Playing goalie my whole life I hated these. When you get to higher levels dudes can hit 90+. And they shoot from 10ft out. Doesn't matter how good your gear is these sting.
You betcha! I played box goalie and one of our guys always managed to leave my wrist a bruised mess. I almost think he did it intentionally. 🤔 He won’t see this, but hey, Dave, 🖕😄
@@Yellowfver783 The easiest way to deke the goalie is to hold the puck on the right (if the player is a rightie) and then when you're close enough to the goalie, turn a bit to the left and move the puck to the left and then normally you have a wide open net to backhand into it.
Having played hockey for 40 years, this still has to be the best shootout strategy, as long as it's not over used. Tenders never expect it. They look for the fake.
As a goalie, I'm not sure what you're supposed to do on these. I mean, in a regular play, a slap shot isn't likely going to come at you from that close, and will have other people in the way. Taking a slapshot from that close is borderline attempt to injure.
I love Rolston's slapper against Osgood he played at lake state university in sault ste. Marie mi. And I watch his hockey career take off after they won the ncca tournament.
You can see it works sometimes. But you have to wonder why if you can take a layup, you would take a jump shot to use a basketball analogy. Which is the higher percentage shot ?
Day 100. This community is the best. I love every single one of you and especially delta. Keep up the uploads. Started watching this channel since 6k subscribers, and it’s amazing to see it grow so much. Keep up the great work delta!
the reason why slap shot works on a shootout (I played goalie) is if you can shoot faster than a goalie can react you can beat them, otherwise with a deke you need to get them moving one way(momentum) so they cant go back the other way
I remember at the time everyone complained that Vanek was “too close” for a slap shot. Shootouts were still new at the time, but now in retrospect he was the farthest one away in this video haha
On n'en voit pas assez des "slapshots" dans les tirs de barrage, pourtant le lancé frappé et le tir du poignet sont 2 armes redoutables. Merci pour la vidéo. 👍
Who had the best slap shot here? Also I made a part 2, but with breakaways and penalty shots! th-cam.com/video/NM6QysO-wJc/w-d-xo.html
I think my favourites are Erik karlsons and giroux
Diddy Davey Desharnais, obviously.
Giroux
I would have been very angry if Vanek was not here, the slapper on the breakaway was his bread and butter.
Chara definitely
Jesus man imagine trying to stop a point blank slapper from prime Chara
Hey at least it's not Shea Weber
@@bmoaw3321 few mph less or more, its brutal either way! Imagine if it hits helmet in that speed, knockout? 😵
@@gollese I don't know but for sure it would be pretty scary to face Chara's powerbomb point blank.
Goldberg would stop it

Don't hassle the Hoss
dude scored slapshot shootout goals on three different teams
I love Hossa
Its a shame that Slovakia dont produce so many talents than befor
Man oh man if the wings would’ve kept Hossa over Franzen 😬 fricken Ken Holland

Seems like a certain Erik Karlsson motivated Delta to make this video 😁
Nightcrawler yea
Not even close

I saw this on Dangles series
Chara’s slap shot is almost lethal

Indeed.
This shouldn’t even be allowed. It seems like such a cheap cop out.
@@delesdog Well there's a reason people prefer to use other methods 1 on 1, it really isn't very good most of the time
Wonder where he got this inspiration? 🧐
Idk
haha, karlson
No clue there was no good hockey on yesterday

This could just be a Marian Hossa and Zdeno Chara compilation
hey that’s my discord pfp
It definitely could

imagine having chara’s 6’9” self ripping one straight at you.
From the fucking hash marks no less
I remember when Thomas Vanek would do this from time to time.
As a sabres fan, now that’s a name I haven’t heard in a long, long time
Tbh his snapshots are underrated

0:13 “He does have some good deking abilities” lmao 😂...Chara takes the Slap shots lol 😂
As a goalie, slapshots are quite literally the bane of my existence
Not a shootout but malkins breakaway slapper will always be so epic, he gets leveled, cherry picks and gets a breakaway. Love it
Hossa with Detroit against Chicago and with Chicago against Detroit. How poetic
Back in his hay day Brian Rolston's slap shot was seldom stopped. Guy could rip it pretty damn good. Best slapper in the league at the time.

Dude, the amount of vids you are uploading lately is awesome! Keep up the good work 👊👍
Needs way more than just one Brian Rolston clip, dude did it A LOT.
I’m pretty sure he only did it in the shootout once, but there’s one in the penalty shot in this video: th-cam.com/video/NM6QysO-wJc/w-d-xo.html
Nice stop by Khabibulin there

Philadelphia Flyers 2010 against Hawks

this is actually so clever. it's about the least routine situation for a goalie to be in lol.
The Hossa Snappers were the most elusive.Quick little windups leave the goalie surprised.

Before the video I thought vanek has to be on here. Glad he made one. He was one of the first guys do this and often. Always seemed to work.
Now that takes skill and proper hip transition!
Sheldon Souray's should have been a bonus one.
Delta Highlights videos are more entertaining than the entire season, and I'm a Knights fan and we're doing quite well.
This intro is 🔥
Playing the NHL series in the mid 90's we used to call that the Al Iafrate.
I remember Adrian Aucoin when he was playing for Phoenix had a nice little run where he kept scoring in the shootout with a slapshot.
2:00 this is the best! Desharnais 35 to 90. So smooth.
yeah, goalie didn't even see it, barely even reacted
Toffoli did this in a preseason game some years back I was there and have it recorded on my phone
Nothing says gutless more than a clapper on a clear break
happy good Friday!

Ryan Hartman tried that on me earlier this week but I saved it like the god I am
