I'm totally committed! I have a book that I'm writing about the lessons I learned from having to go on a healing journey after multiple heartbreaks and how I turned my life around. I am also helping my wife write a book based on her story as a kidnapping survivor.

Glad that you've mentioned the importance of the first draft. I remember I was listening to Jordan Peterson on that and he said: 'Now that you have it you've got something to improve and to build upon. Get that first draft as soon as you can even if it's horrible'. Trying to follow that :)

The advice to 'put the blinders on and just get the first draft' is so important! Just in time learning is so smart, especially with a big project like a book. Too many authors try to understand where they are going distribute their book and even design their cover before they have written a chapter! Awesome stuff Pat. I don't know how you're still doing these livestream every single day. Take care!

Day 95: Book Writing Highlights: “Have the discipline to say no to things you know you don’t need right now, so you can say YES to the one thing [you’re focused on now].” (6:46) ~ Pat Flynn; Pat introduces his books & purpose of each (1:15): Let Go! (2:04), Will It Fly? (2:42), Superfans (3:05) and exam prep (3:53) eBook study guide. (3:38) Focus on getting to the 1st draft; (4:48) Just in time learning. (5:38) Not FOMO, not JOMO, JOOO. Focus on the PURPOSE of book you want to write (6:59):
1.) 1.(7:08) Start from a place of service and what parts to include. Stories are hooks (7:38)
2.) 2.(8:33) Teach a method Will It Fly? Taught method (9:47) audience told me what they needed; (10:20) pre-validate to test the felt need. (Michael Hyatt, Living Forward) (12:38) confirmed interest with a survey. Tagline “So You Don’t Waste Your Time and Money” (13:10) came from survey responses.
3.) 3.(13:35) You have a passion to change people’s behavior & help people get results. (Miracle Morning, find interview with Hal Elrod on SPI podcast)
Purposes to Write a Book for You
1.) (16:35) To build authority for your business
2.) (17:28) To get more exposure; Amazon is a search engine of buyers
3.) (18:12) Help grow your email list; use as a teaser to get leads, and gain clients
4.) (18:57) Make some money, [or boost other income streams & exposure you get] (19:52) “You’re going to struggle writing a book; it’s definitely a struggle.” ~ PF Example: Will It Fly? eBook > free companion course (53% conversion rate) > email list > products and services > build relationship
“Stop focusing on trying to grow the size of your audience; instead focus on serving a few so well that they will tell others.”
(22:59) 3 Step Process from Brain to 1st Draft
1.) (23:08) Mind map using Post It® notes
2.) (26:24) Outline must come AFTER getting ideas and pieces out. Then share the outline & get feedback.
3.) (28:26) Writing: start with section you’re most excited about; you can dictate elaborating on each part using transcription service (www.rev.com)
Tried ghostwriters but didn’t like it. Maybe find a book writing coach like Azul in a way that works for you. www.authorswholead.com
“You’ll be surprised how much harder it is to write a book than to write a blog post.” ~ PF STORYTIME: From ghostwriting service then tried (43:49) NaNoWriMo; How Pat wrote Superfans. Let your tribe know you’re writing. Work in public & get audience involved.

This is a really good channel. For me, it's taking 27 years to write the equalivant of four books. I should try and make a video like yours on how I managed to do it. If you are going to make bold statements in your first book, then it is impotant to follow through with them to the very end.

Hi Pat, I've been using dication like a mad man recently. I'm loving it.
I find that when I am able to pace and walk around the room, the flood gates open up.
I have voice activation set up on my computer, and from 10 feet away, it activates like a gem when I start and stop talking as I'm moving around , no lav mic. My back is also thanking me for it, now that I'm not sitting so much any more. Now I'm trying to fine-tune this method or technique. Is there anything as far as technology is concerned, that changed everything for you as far as the dictation is concerned. And how about some quality software that does a bang-up job on translating your dictation as you speak.

Hello, Mr Pat Flynn, I watched your live video, although I was a bit late, was getting my daily exercise in after undergoing life changing surgery, and yes after my surgery, I have wanted to write a book, and I am planning to start soon, however these tips you have just given in the video, have been valuable. Also, when you mentioned in the live stream, say hello 👋 👋 and comment if you think 🤔 🤔 you are going to start to write a book, I said hello 👋 👋 to you, and you never responded, however I can totally understand it must be extremely difficult to do a video, and notice everyone in that live video, as well as comment on every single person, but I will like to give you a tip, to ensure some people don’t feel left out in future, you could make some sort of chart when making your live videos, so it is large enough for you to see, and then you could have names of regular followers or viewers, and other viewers for example, and say something like this in your video, if I don’t respond to all the comments I haven’t forgotten you, or I am not ignoring you, it is just a little hard to multi task sometimes, or something like this, just a suggestion, but otherwise, very good content, and very inspiring.... thank you for your awesome videos and advice, I really appreciate them, when I can watch them....

    Hi Mister!
I have written my first book. I want to have review from experts that I, could put on the book's cover.
Do you think that I should ask them just to send me the review by email?
If I receive one by email, can I put it on the cover?
    Thank you!

What if someone doesn't have an audience already and wants to write and publish a book. How will that person get the initial feedback?
