    Matthew particularly using lots of "rule book" gamesmanship here as he knew Elias was in form and dangerous. Always a good sign you're doing OK when a higher ranked player needs to resort to it. I'm so glad Elias won the match in the end.

    Nick Matthew is a great champion, but his gamesmanship here suggests it is time to hang up his racket (which I understand he is doing soon). Credit to Diego Elias for showing maturity and not letting Nick's complaining and stalling get to him ... and as far as I know, there is no prohibition in the rules regarding 'pointing' at a suspect shot for a future appeal (as a former referee, I never had a problem with this)

    Completely agree with you regarding watching PSASQUASHTV, I recommend it to all our members and students of the game. I have seen and experienced some remarkable improvements. The monkey see monkey do phenomenon is amusing and beneficial in so many ways. Color commentary is always superb and truly allows this fine game to be understood by the masses. Best regards from LTSquash Canada.

    So Mathew asks for a let because it's unsafe to play around a sweat patch from Diego's palm, but when Diego falls and leaves a whole body-sized sweat patch he keeps on playing... that's because he was losing the first and winning the latter of course. I don't like his ways.

    • @fAtbAstUrd350
      @fAtbAstUrd350 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Those are the rules though, the opponent of the player who put sweat on the floor gets to decide if they want to play on or stop for a let.

      @albertrutter3023 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@fAtbAstUrd350 I agree those are the rules but if you are going off that then Matthew shouldn’t have been able to stop the first time as it was the sweat from Elias’ hand from his lunge that he said was making the court slippy and dangerous not his own sweat

    • @fAtbAstUrd350
      @fAtbAstUrd350 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@albertrutter3023 If this is referring to the point around 17:15 then you're correct, Matthew shouldn't be able to stop as he caused the sweat patch. The only exception is if the ref decides it's unsafe to play. Hard to ref as you don't want to encourage diving to stop play but equally can't let players be in danger, especially in warm conditions where there is excess sweating.

      To clarify; all of you are unfortunately wrong. The "rule," which is a PSA rule and not captured in the WSF Rule book is this: if a wet patch is created on the court surface, play is expected to continue if all shots are good, in fact, the players WANT the play to continue, as it almost always results in a compromised player at a disadvantage and a winning shot situation could be available. The player who created the wet patch is irrelevant. However, if court action forces EITHER player to return to the area/quadrant of the wet patch to play their shot, that player may request stoppage/a let specifically for safety reasons. No one wants an injury to any player. That being said; all the wet patches were created by Nick himself putting his hand down starting several rallies earlier, again, irrelevant, kind of, so, now the question is gamesmanship. You'll have to answer that yourselves; I have my opinion. A wily veteran and an up and comer. School is in session.

    What the hell was 12:39?! Racquet was up, ready to play, realises it's an unorthodox serve and thinks "oh I'm not ready" (for THAT type of serve). He really was a scumbag of a person.

    Nick Matthew is amazing and inspirational. I am sure after the slip he decided to go easy to avoid getting injured in his last season. That is to say if that was his last match he wouldn’t have lost a single game unless he did his best which he didn’t here after the slip
