Now imagine that whenever they have a TV special about your martial art (Pradal Serey or Kun Khmer), everyone laughs and just calls it Cambodian Muay Thai. Then to add salt to the wound, imagine the Thai fabricating a story about Muay Boran, a modern word, to prove to the world that Muay Thai is original and derived from Muay Boran, and with no proof! Now imagine the whole world eats this story up and laughs at you when you say that your people have been practicing the exact same thing since as early as the 8th century AD, possibly earlier. Just because Muay Thai is more famous, doesn't mean there is only Muay Thai martial art in the world. There is also Muay Laos from Laos, Lethwei from Myanmar, Kun Khmer from Cambodia which can be seen similar. I don't understand why so many big news media in Thailand try to spread the fake informations. There is no official information from Cambodia that we change from Muay Thai to Kun Khmer. The thing we do as a host is that we put our own national martial art which is called Kun Khmer to the Seagame2023 and it's the rule of Seagames that all country agree since the first.

The reason Muay Thai doesnt headbutts is because Thai people intentionally removed headbutts as a process of modernizing Muay Thai. Headbutts aint recognized and allowed in most international organizations. Being more brutal doesnt mean a thing if its not accepted.
Head butt is also part of Pradal Serey (free fight or boxing), but for it to become something acceptable in sport competition the head butt was not allow.

This is the reason why the SEA Game prefers to used Muay Thai or Muay as a representative name in the boxing competition event, because it is already officially established and authorized by over 120 countries coming in together. Why would they choose the other that hasn’t even been recognized both on the technical mandate issues and the brand trustee itself - onto their platform. It doesn’t make good sense for any competing athletes as well as the audience’s expectations. Therefore, the unchosen name may be existed but unfortunately until proven, which means at this 32 C game it’s only normal to go by the first perceived based on trust in regards to boxing.

@@onalonanKun Khmer is a broad term. There’s Kbach Kun Boran Khmer (or Bokator), and then there’s Kun Khmer Pradal Serey. One is more like Kung Fu, the latter looks similar to Muay Thai.
Also, the reason SOME Khmer people on the internet tried to claim Tony Jaa and Buakaw is because Cambodians see the Surin people as Khmer. Imagine that your ancestors have been practicing a martial art where you use 8 limbs for centuries. 400 years later, that’s a whole Ancient Rome lifespan later, Tai people come from Southern China into your land and change the spelling of their name to Thai. Your king allows them to stay but a century or so later they fight for independence, taking away most of your land. Fast forward to the 1970s. Your country is poor and as a result was never able to fight overseas, especially because of genocide.
Now imagine that these Thais advertise your martial arts as Muay Thai and effectively made it impossible to preserve your martial art since it’s called Muay THAI. Now imagine that whenever they have a TV special about your martial art (Pradal Serey or Kun Khmer), everyone laughs and just calls it Cambodian Muay Thai.
Then to add salt to the wound, imagine the Thai fabricating a story about Muay Boran, a modern word, to prove to the world that Muay Thai is original and derived from Muay Boran, and with no proof! Now imagine the whole world eats this story up and laughs at you when you say that your people have been practicing the exact same thing since as early as the 8th century AD, possibly earlier. That despite it making logical sense that the Thai were heavily influenced by Ancient Khmer, people still eat the Thai-centric stories up because they love “Thai” culture so much, and that’s the first thing they knew it as, so in a way it’s almost irreversible.
This is why Khmer people are salty. Don’t hate them for it. Maybe try to understand and draw your own conclusions. Just make sure you use logic and stay away from Thai history books!
P.S. I guess I can’t blame the Thais so much. With every generation, they don’t know what occurred in the past generations. Sooner or later it’s lost in history. Just because Muay Thai is more famous, doesn't mean there is only Muay Thai martial art in the world. There is also Muay Laos from Laos, Lethwei from Myanmar, Kun Khmer from Cambodia which can be seen similar. I don't understand why so many big news media in Thailand try to spread the fake informations. There is no official information from Cambodia that we change from Muay Thai to Kun Khmer. The thing we do as a host is that we put our own national martial art which is called Kun Khmer to the Seagame2023 and it's the rule of Seagames that all country agree since the first.
Can tell the differences between Muay thai, Muay Laos, and Kun Khmer? Lethwei itself is different from Muay thai because it has headbutts. So they are different sports. What about the other two? Yes, as a host, Cambodia has every right to put their own martial art, which is Kun Khmer. Problem happens when (i) it is everything Muay thai (ii) It is claimed to be the origin of Muay thai, which is totally false. Then that is called a cultural appropriation. Come up with your Kun Khmer own rules and gears. I dont think any Thai person would have a problem. So now what are the differences between Muay thai and Kun Khmer?

- Cambodian people only say Kun Khmer is original from Cambodia, we have a proof in the wall of Angkor wat thousand years ago. Because of fake news mostly from Thai media.
- about the rule of Kun Khmer, as my personal point of views i see this rule for long times. I agree that the rule is similar and we can see all fighters from both countries can fight each other. So i don't think we only listen to one site. Sport should bring peace and love for all countries not hat or racist.

@@Muay-MMA Sorr, as i mentioned on the first comment. There is no official announcement from any cambodia sites to say Muay thai is from Kun khmer. We only say Kun khmer is original from Cambodia. As i also can understand Thai language, I heard from some Big thai media say this. And about the rule, you say Kun khmer used Muay Thai rule? About this we should look back long times ago. Dont just think Muay Thai is more famous recently than the other countries can’t have their own rule.

The rules have always been similar dating back decades ago, between Muay Thai and Pradal Serey. Thai fighters have been fighting in Cambodia, and Khmer fighters have been fighting in Thailand for decades. Don’t you lie to the internet. There are VHX tapes proving that Khmer and Thai fighters have been competing in each other’s countries dating back 30 years ago under the same rules. So why all of their best fighters have to came to studied Muaythai here in Thailand for decades??? And Cambodian do not even have a good gym and master and trainer overthere even nowaday??? That's why you saw the same techniques all of them and most famous fighters from neighbors countries around Thailand all of them trained in Thailand my friend and when they go back to their countries they just change to their art name. Just search on internet you'll know that 99.99% of them were trained with Thai Master just like all the fighter from the west.

@@raziframli4642 all countries around here in South east asia they came to trained Muaythai here since they are a kid, what you said probably from long long time in the past that people around here have similar fighting style but you couldn't find any good master and gym outside if Thailand nowaday. It's no exist so where people could go to learn those art now??? Even their Master have to come to to trained with Thai master in Thai gyms since they are a kids. Yes all of their best fighters too mist of them trained from Thailand since they are a kid and when they go back to their countries they just changed the name to their art at their home.I know it's weird but just search about neighbors fighters on internet you'll found their life were just like these.
