Fast Growth & Early Death | Startup | Sarthak Ahuja

If you grow too fast, you’ll die much sooner... and this principle of science applies to life, to money, as well as to business...
They once took two groups of fish.
One group was put in abnormally warm water, and the other in abnormally cold water.
The warm water fish grew in size rapidly, while those in cold water had slowed down growth.
Later, both groups were put in normal temperature water, and over a period of time, they all grew to be the same size.
It was later discovered that fish that grew rapidly in the beginning died 15% sooner...
And those with slowed down initial growth, lived 30% longer!
This principle applied equally well to rats... applies to humans... and to money and business.
When something grows rapidly in the beginning, such super charged growth in size comes at the cost of resources being taken away from other aspects which are essential for holistic growth, repair & maintenance.
So later in life, the fast growth beings are more susceptible to failures because of inorganic growth in the beginning, leaving them more prone to risk and failures...
Compared to someone who grew holistically and slowly, taking care of each function of the body.
We’ve seen this apply to businesses as well... You can’t optimize for Sales, while ignoring employee welfare and financial reporting.
You can’t go crazy about wanting high investment returns without hedging your bets and putting just as much thought to risk aversion.
Sustained Growth over a Long Period is better than Super Fast Growth.
