I am still hoping that one day the camera slowly turns around, and there are like 30 people in the room for the live studio audience, and it was never a joke
A hobby store close to me also does a second-hand shelf for Warhammer stuff and donate the money they make from it to local charities. I wish more places did the same!
Buying second hand warhammer was eyeopening to me. The most expensive stuff was beautifully painted armies for half the gw box price. Some people just gave spruises away, and most of the stiff was dirt cheap. Everyone was friendly and said they werent expecting to make any money. Most just needed the space at home and wanted to give their minis a new loving home. I think I may take a page from this and donate the money I sell my armies for to charity as well. Wiuld be a lovely sendoff for an army that isnt getting a lot of play 💜 Its rare to have a bad interraction with the WH community, with the exception of GW where its unheard of to have a good interraction haha.
To answer your question about how long ago the Horus Heresy Age Of Darkness Version 1 tabletop game came out, the original Black Book Volume 1, “Betrayal”, which was the rules/campaign book from Forge World, was released in 2012. Most people assume that it came out much later, but that’s only because it was never quite as popular as regular old 40K. What I am unsure of is when the FW Blight Drone was released, but it is an awesome sculpt, and the fact that it’s not as covered in over-the-top silliness like the newer Bloat Drone is one of the things that makes it so awesome. The rules index for HH that you’re referring to now includes the Kytan, the Greater Brass Scorpion, the Decimator, and some other Chaos goodies , which I believe have only been introduced (for HH, specifically) in the recent “Tredecimmia” campaign/supplement book. In HH V1.0, a lot of players complained about the lack of rules and support for several factions, mainly Renegades/Traitor Guard, Cults/Militia, (which may have been the same as the Traitor Guard, I’m not sure because I don’t play any of the games), The Dark Mechanicum, and specifically, Chaos Daemons and the like. So it’s possible that the Blight Drone was originally included with the Traitor Legions army list, but I don’t have a full set of the books from which to find out. One thing’s for certain, though- the Blight Drone is really cool, and you’re very fortunate to have come across one that you were able to get at a discount, especially since it was not destroyed by a terrible paint job or sub-par conversion work. Unfortunately, models like that, even used, are going to become more and more scarce, and eventually impossible to find. I would have grabbed Karamazov in a heartbeat, as long as he didn’t cost a fortune. He’s one of the most unique and weird sculpts they’ve ever put out, and as such has been one of my personal favorites for years. I’ve yet to see one in person! Thanks for another great video, Jay- I always know that I’m in for a good time when I see a notification from EOB. Have a great weekend! TL/DR- 1.I like 30K. 2.The first Black Book (“Betrayal”) with rules and campaign info came out in 2012. 3.Blight Drone > Bloat Drone. 4.I write comments so long that people ignore them.
The plushies will be about 100$ each (aud) with how their show subscriptions are going and how their last squig plush went I’m certain that GW has realised they are best off outsourcing everything that isn’t a mini, so they are just trying to get as much money as possible for the licensing, hence the netflix continued haggling going on for the tv series
So the biologis isn't really like a normal apothecary, in the book he's basically trying to identify a weakness in the new tyranids which is why you get the huge objective boost when you kill anything to try and represent that.
I just had painter's block as well. I'm in the middle of my Saurus army and have 4 units done but I'm about to start a Troglodon and I was just burnt out on lizards. I painted up some RT space marines as Blood Angel Strike Force Justinian and 10 used Goblin Spider riders and that helped. The store you are talking about is half owned by the old store manager at the GW store, he's a nice guy. I also picked up a full sprue of The Wolfenburg Crypt-stealers for $10 and painted them up in green and gold, the Green Bay Hackers, just as a halloween paint-up to put on my desk at work. I agree with the orks, maybe add some choppas to their waist or back?
Weirdly enough only some of the legends chaos models are in heresy now. Only the Kytan, Brass Scorpion, Blood Slaughter, and Decimator have rules for Horus Heresy thanks to a recent pdf. But not the big blight drone for some reason. I guess you can use the greater blight drone as a proxy for the Vulturax Automata model that Horus Heresy has got, since they both have a similar silhouette and are meant to be similar vehicles. And even then, all of the chaos stuff was just grandfathered into heresy, not specifically made for it. I think that during the Alan Bligh era of the heresy game there were intentions to make dark mechanicum into a faction, and maybe that would have used those chaos models, but that never happened and so we got the weird mish-mash in heresy now
But they aren't HH models, they are model from the Imperial Armour books, the Siege of Vraks, and in the lore they are recent creations of the hellforge worlds, GW put all that units in the HH pdf because they are lazy
I view "grimdark" the same way I view slasher movies. These are not things that should be taken seriously. 40k's setting is a hilariously overdriven hyperviolent galaxy of evil and murder and gore, and I love being able to laugh at how ridiculous it is. It's "wouldn't if be fucked up if..." taken to every extreme possible and it starts to become so abstractly violent that you can't help but laugh at it. That's why I love this setting so much!
If a player is using proxies of any kind they are obligated to remind their opponent what is what at all times. Heck, even if you are playing WYSIWYG it is just good sportsmanship to remind your opponent of what your forces can do, especially in a game like 40k where there are too many rules to reasonably remember. With that in mind, proxies, conversions and kitbashes are always welcome on the tabletop as far as I am concerned.
Totally agree. 20+ years ago there was a store in Sheffield Lake, Ohio called Matrix Games and Diversions. They hosted the North Coast Gamers Guild weekly Sunday meets. The meets were different games. One week was table top. There was a guy there that had all these beautiful 40K miniatures. He had set up 2 armies. Tyranids and Space Marines. I never played, so I had to learn as I went. Took me two game weekends to realize he was playing Tyranids because they had psychic round attack before the range or melee. So on week 3, I asked him if the Space Marines had any psychic round combatants. He reluctantly told me about the Librarian and the Chaplin. He was not very forthcoming with that info. He was less haply that I now knew he was a shitlord. And he was even less thrilled that I almost beat him by game week three.
@mordecaitoth6703 yeah, he was a shitlord. It was fine after that. He just knew I was no longer Cannon fodder. I never got into 40k, but it was fun back then. He was an OK dude. But I'm competitive and had been into it, I probably would have had some crazy arm with all phases combat and smoked him in a month or so of learning all the rules.
If you read everything, Pokemon is grimdark as well. I read a few flavour text where I thought the writer really wasn't okay. And they make cute plushies as well.
I don't want to get too deep into this... But I was reading a book about shamanistic practices in Central America. It said there was a practice of hollowing out dried gourds to use to trap animal spirits and call on them when in need.... I was like...That's just POKEMON!!!
I faced painter's block as well when painting my T'au, especially when arriving to the tedious edge highlights I find Kroots a good way to relieve the pressure. Seems like painting green is my way to alleviate the pressure
E.O.B. E.M.R. episode!! Wizy-wig and just what the card says for some. Example. I kit bashed (not done yet, lol) for space wolves. They have axes and different shields. Thanks gents!! Fantastic as always!!!
- I have a complete Collette gang waiting to get painted - the OLD box set! I only played Malifaux once because the guy who got me into it kinda abandoned the whole hobby. - To illustrate how ridiculous eBay is for Warhammer at the moment: There is an offer for an unpainted squad of five blue sprue Hellblasters from the Conquest magazine (no ammo belts etc) at 30€ when a new box of 10 would cost you 40€ with the usual third-party discount.
Is there a recent video where Jay shares his recipe for black armor? As far as i know it changed quite some times over the years so there are some older videos where he shares his experience. However I enjoy this apothecaries armor style and would be interested if there is a more recent vid that explains that specific style ... Thanks
They gave the weird chaos stuff to Heresy so they could technically keep selling them and actually have a game for it, but they are not heresy units really as they are from Vraks or something. But at least you can do something with them, so they aren't just paperweights. Unless you don't play Heresy and then they ARE paperweights.
I also have 20 Gargoyles to paint. And about 4000 points or so of other Tyranids and Deathwatch. Oh and about 3000 points for the Middle Earth Strategy Battle Game. But it is NOT a pile of shame. Its a stack of development. Everything is assembled, most of it is primed and my Tyranids are probably halfway through the paint process! Have fun with the Gargoyles! Especially in game. Attach the Winged Prime and give him the Chameleonic enhancement in Vanguard Onslaught and look out!
You must have missed the gnashing of teeth from chaos players when they moved stuff to legends. This happened to a lot of models that GW has no interest in keeping up to date for 10th. I'm sure it has more to do with that then whether it makes sense for them to be HH specific.
WYSIWYG can be useful or it can be painful. Honestly I don’t know most armies stuff anyway so I need it all explained regardless. The only thing that would really bother me is “this model here is THIS” and “this identical model but over here is TOTALLY different”.
With units that have two weapon types like all shooter/melee, I will put either the melee or the guns in the hands and the other option on the backs or other hand. Then I use clip on color markers on the base to basically say, "Hey red are melee, Blue are Pew Pew"
Finally a video openly titled what every Chaos player already knew. Chaos is far more interesting than any space marine chapter sans one, the Salamanders. Role play them with just flamers, meltas and multi meltas with a smattering of bolt pistols and they are a hoot. If you want to stay all Chaos go with a Dragon Warriors army which is essentially the Chaos version of the Salamanders.
I always thought the people who complain about GW "ruining Warhammer's grimdark" were missing the point. Warhammer's _settings_ are grimdark, doesn't mean every story or character has to be. 40K is the same universe where an Ork decides he wants a second copy of his favorite gun, goes back in time, and kills himself - this doesn't create a time paradox because nobody thought it would so screw you. Age of Sigmar is the same setting where the legends surrounding Behemat include him drowning an Elf city by accident by belly-flopping into the water, and stops a giant Magmadroth from escaping a volcano by flipping the top of it upside down. Brutal Kunnin' has two Orks, a Grot, and a Squig take down an Imperial Titan with nothing more than a buggy. Warhammer has always been about the BALANCE, too much cute/funny stuff and it loses its Warhammer charm, not enough cute/funny stuff and it goes full GrimDERP and feels needlessly edgy.
I think that was a forge world model, I have one unpainted somewhere. Also, I think the rules might be in the Forge world's siege of Vrak. The giant chaos spawn might be in there as well. I have the model they call jabber Jaw I think. It's been a while since I read the book
The local game store I got to takes in Warhammer models for cash or credit. I go there often to fill in units missing certain models. I find a ton of cool models that are gold but people get rid of because they are outdated. It's a treasure trove of goodies.
Wysiwhg depends for me. I like making models that aren't possible to field by the rules, but are cool looking models. But I rarely field them as it can cause complications.
I never uphold wysiwyg BECAUSE I haven’t been able to play with people who want to get into the game because they hold themselves to it and never get it done. It’s been 3-4 years and one of em messed up on a model and calls it a “scrap model” because it’s not kitted correctly. I wanna have fun and, if anything, i always recommend color coding the base.
Also in some tournaments people dont use certain equipment because it was kitted for 8 or 9th edition and now that some parts are gone they “don’t have the right equipment” and end up not using a portion of their army.😐 not fun for me and it certainly doesnt seem like fun to them
That model and a bunch of chaos engines are now apparently Horus heresy, they released the heresy pdf fairy recently and they weren’t in the heresy at all previously. Such a confusing move by Gw.
Did you miss the big disaster when GW moved most of the forgeworld daemon engines to Legends of the horus heresy? Even though they were sold under the 40k label. And didn't have any rules in the horus heresey?
if someone is running wierd xeno laser space gun ... I cannot tell which is which anyway :D just tell me what is antitank, what is antihorde and I am good
I like WYSIWYG, but it's clearly intended by GW as a mechanism to sell more models. At some point, especially as rules change, it becomes predatory. Magnets and 3D-printed bits can help.
I buy a lot of vintage clothes and, genuinely, I found out that people were selling secondhand Warhammer on the app I use. eBay is dead, long live, uh, Vinted? Apparently?
I don't like WYSIWYG. Sure, it's nice to be able to look down at a model and see what it has but even then you're often asking your opponent what it's equipped with anyway. And with how often rules change I don't wanna be cutting my models up just to change their loadouts or, worse, be buying even more plastic.
wysiwyg depends on the model horde units like boys or gaunts, i dont care at all standard marines and the like, i like the guy with the big gun to have a big gun, but beyond that i dont really care, what types of big gun doesnt matter, and what types of small arms dont matter characters i like wysiwyg, but more on a personal level, if my oponent says "that dude with a sword actually has a powerfist" i dont care so long as you are clear on what everything has and make sure i know, im fine with whatever so long as things are about the right size and shape
"Warhammer should have cute things in it" Me: *Shoved a takodachi into the Ork faction and they call it a "waaagh squig" because they mishear "wah"* Ok
Vast majority of the legends of heresy daemon engines didn't actually exist in horus heresy. Many of them showed up 10k years later when Abbie was going on his black crusades Why they made them heresy units is incomprehensible
Yeah, none of the Chaos units that got chucked into Legends should be in 30k. They did not exist during the Heresy as the traitors hadn't gone beyond the Gal Vorbak or the Possesed Dreadnoughts when it came to Daemonic infusion or Chaos worship. There is also the fact that the lore of those units completely contradict them being in the Heresy as the earliest sightings of Daemon Engines and Chaos Spawn among the forces of the traitors was many millenia after the Heresy had ended. Retcon or not, it was a very stupid decision from GW imo.
I want to like chaos but I have a personal grudge against a buddy that used to beat my ass in Warhammer fantasy as chaos undivided so I’m too salty to get into them. I don’t want him to think I joined his side just to win
I am still hoping that one day the camera slowly turns around, and there are like 30 people in the room for the live studio audience, and it was never a joke
That would make for a great april fools episode
Technically, Nick is a live studio audience. It was never a joke.
Every week I pray for a canned laughter track just at that moment. Still not happened.
He needs a laugh track
I agree. However, the audience is dressed like him, with fake facial hair and wigs modeled after his luscious locks.

You're not wrong. GW did in fact retcon Forge World Chaos Space Marine units to Horus Heresy (and have since released rules for them in Horus Heresy).
I view "grimdark" the same way I view slasher movies. The Apothecary Biologis IS the gravis "lieutenant" there is only the gravis captain which he can join together with aggressors 🙃
this guy can talk about everything and loves everything.... but thats kind of the reason i watch him
Wizzy wig just makes playing 40k so much easier for me. Then when I pull a model I know which weapon I have lost for the unit.
I like that the subtitles say, “Jean Stealers”. Maybe that could inspire a really funny army.
I hope the plushies do well enough to greenlight a second wave. I need a cute fluffy Tyranid!
Surprised with the nid push that they didn't do one in the first wave.

@@purpletigerracing7087 Wow! That is a whole new level of shitlordary haha

@mordecaitoth6703 yeah, he was a shitlord. It was fine after that. He just knew I was no longer Cannon fodder. I never got into 40k, but it was fun back then. He was an OK dude. Jay, are you talking about Warpstorm in Milwaukee!?
He is!
That Gretchin plushie looks exactly like a Magic: The Gathering Goblin
Warhammer is very influential.
Today is my birthday and this video made it today worth it

Im looking for the gryph hound, The second I saw it I said out loud "AWWWWWWW A GRYPH HOUND!!!!!"
What Games Workshop hates is it's playerbase, not Chaos.
Death Guard got shafted so hard at the launch of 10th. Losing greater bloat drones and other datasheets was just the cherry on top

Orks should be ramshackled. I run sluggas and choppas, but I have all kinds of other weapons in the units.
Only one kind of daemon combat patrol told me everything. Same as boarding patrol
Wish there was a plush tyranid. Imagine a lil plush ripper. Would be so cute
will be getting the Squig and the Nurgling :D
That model and a bunch of chaos engines are now apparently Horus heresy, they released the heresy pdf fairy recently and they weren’t in the heresy at all previously. Such a confusing move by Gw.
Think thats a forgeworld blight drone for 40k, but its a strange one rules wise. And the lawnmover one can have Guns in sted
I thought the models in those cases were just for show, y'know to show people what they could do with the models. Had no idea they were for sale.
GW need to do a Little Krueger plushie!!! Would sell them by the spade full!!
Will you make a video about the Legion Imperialis someday?
Yes Inquisitor, that man over there...
Did you miss the big disaster when GW moved most of the forgeworld daemon engines to Legends of the horus heresy? Even though they were sold under the 40k label. And didn't have any rules in the horus heresey?
if someone is running wierd xeno laser space gun ... I cannot tell which is which anyway :D just tell me what is antitank, what is antihorde and I am good
My Apothecary biologis and eradicaters have a kill count of.
2 winged Hive tyrants
1 psycopage
1screamer killer turn 1
3 venomthropes
3 tyranid warriors
2 vonryans leapers
1 mauler fiend
5 chaos Terminators
1 daemon prince
4 khorne bezerkers
2 Knight despoilers
1 drukari raider
Deathleeper in melee
Abbadon the dispolier in melee.
So Apothecary biologis with bolter dicipline and eradicaters is good.
I have a friend who does nurgle and damn GW does him DIRTY
I think the Stabby Monkey and Mr. Crab from Underworlds would make good plushies.
The Gryphound looks like a Pokemon.
Gryphhounds do exist outside of the world of warhammer 40k
Best. How. Yet.
I think mischievous cute is ok 😂
Missed opportunity for a horror plushie. They cute.
Nightlords needs love. also other chaos fadctions.
You leave my gryphhounds alone 😂 they are bestest bois for our golden boys
I like WYSIWYG, but it's clearly intended by GW as a mechanism to sell more models. At some point, especially as rules change, it becomes predatory. Magnets and 3D-printed bits can help.
Is that The Brave Little Toaster behind you?
I was explaining 1984 to a coworker who had never heard of it. She was quite horrified 😂
I buy a lot of vintage clothes and, genuinely, I found out that people were selling secondhand Warhammer on the app I use. eBay is dead, long live, uh, Vinted? Apparently?
when is the webkins focused video since they keep coming up
1:03 -this made me realize Jay is the Seinfeld of 40K models
Dude, a ton of Nurglings are cute. I'll battle someone in 40k over it
I don't like WYSIWYG. Sure, it's nice to be able to look down at a model and see what it has but even then you're often asking your opponent what it's equipped with anyway. And with how often rules change I don't wanna be cutting my models up just to change their loadouts or, worse, be buying even more plastic.
I like wizywig but I don’t make a fuss about it especially if the models are out of stock or just gone
I want to go to whatever land you dwell in. The closest non-hobby lobby hobby store is an hour drive.
was the hobby shop the Source Comics & Games?
He's referring to Warpstorm Games and Lounge!
wysiwyg depends on the model
horde units like boys or gaunts, i dont care at all
standard marines and the like, i like the guy with the big gun to have a big gun, but beyond that i dont really care, what types of big gun doesnt matter, and what types of small arms dont matter
characters i like wysiwyg, but more on a personal level, if my oponent says "that dude with a sword actually has a powerfist" i dont care
so long as you are clear on what everything has and make sure i know, im fine with whatever so long as things are about the right size and shape
"Warhammer should have cute things in it"
Me: *Shoved a takodachi into the Ork faction and they call it a "waaagh squig" because they mishear "wah"* Ok
I think WYSIWYG should be enforced in tournaments (I don't play in tournaments).
But in casual games, who cares, Proxy anything.
You should batrep some Malifaux, get ppl excited about it on your channel.
No way! I also watch Markiplier while I paint!
Best "How?" ever
the legends rules are called heretic astartes im pretty sure
i like wysiwyg because im dumb and forget otherwise
i play ork and have a 50/50 mix of shootas and sluggas. im not very good at this
That's why the CSM faction is hardly about CSM more like a chaos cult
Vast majority of the legends of heresy daemon engines didn't actually exist in horus heresy.
Many of them showed up 10k years later when Abbie was going on his black crusades
Why they made them heresy units is incomprehensible
Apothecary Biologis is not a doctor, he's a Biologist who studies xenos if i recall correctly.
plz bring back eob complete!
Didn't you have some unpainted rhinos in your pile of shame? Maybe you can convert those for your death guard
the world eates only have 1 flying model
4 but nice vid loving it
so many things in 40k are goofy and funny af
So wait you didn't get the inquisitor
Yeah, GW definitely hates Chaos. I really want to collect Nightlords for 40k and they just don't make plastic for that and I hate that fact
