  • In todays Busan Travel vlog, we visited Korea's most breathtaking lantern festival at Samgwangsa 삼광사 and it was EPIC ! I've been to many lantern festivals in the past, but this one BY FAR was THE MOST AMAZING lantern festival that I have ever been to. Experiencing a lantern festival inside of a beautiful and huge temple just felt totally surreal. So if you are visiting Busan and are looking for things to do, then I would 100% recommend coming to check out this lantern festival! I had such an amazing time here!!
    The temple itself, Samgwangsa, was such a beautiful temple and is located really close to Seomyeon! If you visit Busan, even after this lantern festival has finished, I would still recommend visiting Samgwangsa, especially if you're ever close to Seomyeon ( downtown Busan ).
    This lantern festival happens every year during Buddhas birthday! It's completely free to attend, and if you enjoy experiencing Korean culture, then you would have a fantastic time here at the lantern festival. Buddhas birthday follows the lunar calendar, so the date will change from year to year, however it generally happens sometime during the month of May. The lantern festival goes on for around 2 weeks or so, and the lanterns will turn on from 7 PM to 1 AM daily. Samgwangsa temple is open 24 hours a day and 7 days a week.
    This was my first time experiencing this lantern festival and it's now become one of my favorite events to attend. Living in Busan has been amazing, and it continues to keep getting better and better.
    As a foreigner, I can understand the difficulties of getting around in Korea, so I'll continue to share my experiences of living here in Busan, so that you all can better discover this beautiful country.
    I can't wait and I'm already looking forward to next year when we get to experience this lantern festival again at Samgwangsa.

      Hey Elizabeth ! I actually enjoyed it so much. I went back again yesterday haha 😄
      If you go next year, just make sure not to go on exactly Buddha's birthday. It'll be way too crowded on that specific day

      thank you so much :) really appreciate that. Will you still be here around Nov 4th? if so there is an amazing firework festival that I'd 100% recommend. If you'd like I can give you some tips and suggestions. What type of things are you hoping to experience over here? Nature - Shopping - Temples & Historic Cultural places - Food - Saunas etc. Just let me know what you like and I'll tell you the best places to check out

      @SomewhereinKorea thank you for your response. Didn't expect that 😃. I find ur video very informative. Keep up the good work. I'll be leaving 31st Oct. Direct flight to busan, so we will focus just on Busan. I heard that there's a drone show on Sat night?
      Guess we will just cover mostly of the tourist spot that you recommended

    • @SomewhereinKorea
      @SomewhereinKorea  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @chiewevon2663 yep that's right, I'm pretty sure Gwangalli Beach has drone shows every Saturday night. The nightlife there is also really fun as well. Kind of has a younger vibe there than Haeundae beach.
      Hope you have an amazing trip! If you want restaurant or other reccomendations feel free to ask me anytime 😊

      @SomewhereinKorea We prefer to cover busan scenic places or short trail walk so that why we are not getting the Busan pass. Any recommendations other than temple and walking trail behind Westin Hotel that you mentioned in your video?

    • @SomewhereinKorea
      @SomewhereinKorea  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep there are a few other nice walking trails and scenic routes
      1) dalmaji hill - its located on the opposite end of the westin josun hotel, above haeundae blueline park. this one is easy to get to and has plenty of nice cafes and restaurants. If you want to see what this place looks like, try watching my cherry blossom video, it has the directions there with how to get there
      2)taejongdae - this is a costal walking path ( a long one ) on the opposite end of the gwangan bridge, past gwangalli beach. really nice ocean views here, but bring some good shoes, this is a long path, a little more out of the way to get to but its nice here
      3) hwangyeongsan mountain - behind gwangalli beach, you can cab up close to the top of this mountain then hike 15 minutes or so to the top. once you get to the top you'll find the most EPIC view in all of Busan. If you want to see what this looks like, its also from my cherry blossom video and was the 1st stop that we went to.
      4) Jangsan mountain - this mountain is about a 10 minute cab ride away from haeundae beach, nice walking trails, nice views, takes about 1.5 hours to hike to the top.
      if you'd like more suggestions feel free to ask anytime :) @@chiewevon2663

    • @SomewhereinKorea
      @SomewhereinKorea  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep there are clubs like this. I'd say probably more so in Seoul than in Busan. ( but the party scene in Seoul is still way bigger ) I've only ran into this "no foreigners" situation once in Busan, but they still eventually let me in. The age issue I've never encountered though @@RealShakeanbake
