Reality 1: They DID have heat.
Reality 2: Seeing Flair wearing a Hitman shirt made my day.
*So much respect between these guys. It was great to see Undertaker, Bret and Mick Foley sitting ringside at Ric's last match.*
I think the difference between Ric Flair and Bret Hart was simple . Ric is legendary on the mic and worked heal mostly. Bret was face most all of his singles career and it's hard to be on the mic as face . So people cap on Bret because is mic skills suck however when you see him as heal in the hart foundation his mic skills were great .
Well said. Bret even said he wasnt the strongest on the mic but man what a ring technician!!!
1. Bret Hart - greatest technical pro wrestler of all time
2. Shawn Michaels - greatest all around performer of all time
3. Ric Flair - greatest champion of all time (could work with and make anyone look good)
4. Hulk Hogan - greatest babyface champ of all time. (Really blew up wrestling into pop culture bigger than anyone else)
5. Kurt Angle - greatest true wrestler in wrestling of all time (truly learned to be an all around performer)
6. Andre - greatest attraction of all time
1. Steve Austin - Biggest draw of all time
It's debatable that mr perfect is a better technical wrestler than bret. They're very close.
Lou Thesz is the greatest of all time.
My issue with both Flair and HBK is this: I'm in my 50's, grew up in Calgary and went to hundreds of Stampede Wrestling shows. One thing Stu Hart insisted on was believable work. He was old-school and the prime directive for pro wrestling from day one was REALISM. Everything should look like genuine violent combat. Comedy had no place in Stu Hart's rings except for the midget matches. Realism is STILL the prime directive of pro wrestling today so what has always left a black mark on both HBK and Flair is their use of comedic over-selling. HBK would take a big punch by pirouetting around a couple times like a ballerina and I always thought it instantly killed any realism in the match. And Flair had his patented and ridiculous delayed front face bump. He would take a hit to the head, walk several steps, then all of a sudden flop to the canvas on his belly. That is pure slapstick comedy like something you would see in a fight scene in a Three Stooges movie. It was totality unbelievable. HBK and Flair would kill the realism in their matches when they did these sells. Bret Hart - in a million years - would never inject comedic overselling into his matches. He prided himself on realism. So in my opinion Bret Hart did more believable work than HBK and Flair because he NEVER lost sight of pro wrestling's prime directive: realism.
@@misterslats....just found this. And wanted to comment that I've been watching professional wrestling for 60 years and I agree with you allllmost 100%...but, without Flair's interpretation of a professional wrestler (even with the almost slapstick antics) and the almost opposite style of Bret Hart, a technical genius (imo) in the ring, pro wrestling was better for it. Imo 🧐
that was big of flair to say that... just another reason why rick is the greatest heel of all time!!!
The greatest bad guy ever is piper
@shoeplayisbad1 he's up there, hes in my top 2
Id we’re counting Vince then it’s definitely him
Hart cut him a check
I'm just grateful to have seen Flair come in to WWF early 90s as a kid. Great heel champion and loved rumble 92. Bret is my favourite of all time and it's beautiful that it was Flair that passed the torch to Bret and not Hogan. Flair was the REAL world champion after all! 😂
"That really endured him to my heart." The word is endeared.
Grew up watching wrestling in the 80's. I could never go to any wrestlemania's because we didnt have the money. I watched wrestling as much as possible and rented every wrestlemania that came out from the video stores. I loved watching Bret Hart wrestle. One of my favorites. Man, I miss that whole era of wrestling.
Good to see no more conflict btw the 2
Bret hart was probably up there as far as always enjoying to watch him wrestle. As much as he knew he was the wwfs pretty boy, the guy could wrestle and you knew even then he was about the fans and having a good relationship with them. It made me happy to see him taking off his glasses and putting them on a young kid in the crowd. You know it wasn’t about just him but putting on a great show for those that paid to come see him. I am glad he was able to work through the tragedy of his brother which I could never imagine going through the way it happened as well. Thanks for the memories Rick and Bret. Two class acts
When you think of greatest of all time the first 5 always has Flair and hit man
Bret’s not in my top 5. I think he’s one of the greats. At the same time, I think his fans overrate him. But that’s my opinion. Bret was never my cup of tea and during the Bret years was when I stopped watching wrestling when I was a kid.
That being said, Perfect vs Hart at Summerslam 91 has always been one of my all time favorite matches.
Another few that always stuck out to me were Hart Foundation vs Nasty Boys at WM (I think?) and Hart vs DiBiase at Survivor Series 90.
I liked him a lot better as a tag and as IC champ. It didn’t help that his matches with Yoko, Razor, Backlund, Papa Shango, Shawn Michaels (not their Iron Man match), etc., werent that good when he became champion
Yep. I got Flair, Hart, Stone Cold, HBK, Undertaker top 5
1: Hulk Hogan
2: Stone Cold Steve Austin
3: Ric Flair
4: Macho Man Randy Savage
5: Undertaker
That’s my extremely biased top 5.
Shawn and Bret would be right under Taker
lol under Taker
😅😅 😅😅 bret hart is 50 times the wrestler of flair and terry funks the greatest wrestler to put on boots@@andrewsmith3257
For a long time these guys buried each other, maybe it was the competitiveness of them both.
Nice after all these years they respect each other. Two of the all time greats.
They are both top 10 all time unarguably
Uh, No.
@@danielburger1775why not
@@lightyagami8645 Every time either guy was on top, business went DOWN, not up.
@@danielburger1775 not even true for Flair, and two wrestlers can't fix a declinig product, more goes into wrestling booms and high attendance than just the abilities and characters of singular wrestlers. In addition, not like the revenue of billion dollar businesses is a factor in the rating of wrestlers anyway, that's like saying MCU films are the greatest ever made because of the revenue
@lightyagami8645 If it's a business, and your income is directly related to number of tickets sold, then Yes. Those two were both BAD for business, and so bad pro wrestlers.
Get it? Got it? Good.
When Flair was in WCW he shoots bashing Bret were great.
It’s great they get along
Is there a link to this interview or he just talk about Bret for 90 secs?
That's it. Shortly after his last sentence, he gave out a woooo, the tshirt he was wearing disintegrated, and someone off camera brought him a custom ric flair suit.
So glad these two are on good terms...it was pretty thorny for a little while. Bret is my all time favourite, but I think Flair was pretty decent too. 😂 Seriously, one of the few few good things Bret did in WCW were the verbal exchanges and matches with Flair.
I’m glad ric and Bret are friends now
They need to do an Undertaker Root of Fight.
Which one?...
@@elpipiripau7647 The Deadman
Flair is wearing a hitman shirt while putting him over and there’s a video of Bret wearing a flair shirt and putting him over by saying “there’s never been a harder worker and if anyone could blow me up in the ring it’s flair.”
The top 2 have to be Flair and Hogan since they were top dog in various companies. I have Andre 3rd due to his sheer presence and truly being the eighth wonder of the world.
When you’re only a star in one organization then you realize how important someone like Vince McMahon is. Guess Vince should be in the top five.
Woooooo!
We missed out . Bret and Steamboat were in WWF at th😂 same time and to my knowledge never met in the ring .
I don't know if he would do it or if he does, but I would hire him to work with young wrestlers to make them better in the ring.
For many years, Bret Hart and Ric Flair have said vicious things about each other. I am glad that they have buried the hatchet since then.
I have a copy of their 1992 title match , and it's quite a nice match in spite of Ric having an injury that was causing him balance issues at the time.
What's the difference between Naich & Hitman?
Flair is Gold.
As in repeated classics.
As in every Flair match is the same.
Bret made it feel REAL.
By doing the exact same match every night?
@danielburger1775 that's not entirely true. Bret could do a high flying match if he wanted to but his strength was technical wrestling. The point i was making is his selling and ring psychology was so good it made it come off as extremely realistic and this made it feel real. Flair used a lot of comedy and the same spots over and over and couldn't change his style up like Bret and when u would watch a flair match, due to the heavy use of comedy, you would know it's a show and it's not real. Bret was opposite.
Sting was better and never stopped until 2024
💪💪💪
I did not realize that Bret Hart was a dope head?
Heck yeah...Bret Hart is or was a big dope head
Hahaha he does speak a bit about enjoying it in his book but nor does he portray himself as a proper smoker either. Flair’s just like, yeah he’ll smoke it all day 😂
And you'll still have bret haters claim he was overrated 😂😂
Love
It!!!
Watch the video with other wrestlers talk about flair being an actual crybaby. If he he couldn’t get his way he would start crying 😆😅🤣😂
High praise by the nature boy
This comes from a guy that gets kicked out of a bar / restaurant 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Who cares? That restaurant sucks. Ric Flair still the man. WOO!!!!!
I'm glad they're friends now ! Bret is still the best though!
Bret Hart and Ric Flair are two of the greatest of all time. Real recognise real.
Hitman takes the top spot for me, but I can't deny Flair's ring generalship was right up there with him. Probably the two best ever at getting great matches out of mediocre talent.
Bret was a real champion. Flair was just a gimmick.
Other way around buddy
I was never a fan of Flair but to say he was a gimmick shows your ignorance.
@toddrunyon he was known for his gimmick not his in ring ability. He even said that himself.
That’s the biggest load of BS. Brett Hart is a head case that thinks wrestling is real. He is a whiny cry baby!! Gotta be the best in his fairytale world!
Flairs getting paid big bucks to say that about Bret Hart
Flair is overrated
No he isn’t. He’s the finest performer the business has yet produced. Not the best human being, but the best professional wrestling performer of the last century.
@@drewprice8468 Indeed. Nobody is really the greatest. There are wrestlers who have been in more conversations about who is the best pure wrestling talent of all time. Ric Flair is one. Bret Hart is another and so is Bob Backlund.
brett is definitely the #1 cry baby
