Buddy has a 2016 Colorado duramax and the alternator was bad burning the wires into the fuse box. Fixed it’s fine he would hit the brights prior to the repair and it would slam his brakes for a brief second then quit😂.

You are absolutely right. I had a 2006 Duramax, and it was a great truck. Then I got a 2011 Duramax, with it being first year for DEF, and what a nightmare. I gave up on diesels at that point. If you could take all that EPA shit off the motors, they would be just fine.

@@bigman55434 I just a video from Gas Monkey Garage today. They had one if their trucks break down in the way back from a pick. Something to do with a filter for the diesel smog bullshit. He said the early estimate is 6k-10k to repair it.

    • @bigman55434

@@eaglespetty The other problem with these engines is the high pressure injection pumps made by Bosch. The tolerances are ultra tight, and they fail much more often. When that happens, it sends all that debris downstream and destroys the electronic injectors. Huge cost to repair. The 2006 Duramax had none of those issues, always ran great, started in the cold, you could put a tune on it, and was just a great truck. Now they have so many electronic controls on them, that you cannot service them yourself. Even the dealers struggle with them. Enough is enough all right.

I've never worked for GM and I've never necessarily been brand loyal, I've owned them all. The reality is that no single brand is any better than the other. They all have their cycle of issues. To think other wise would be absurd.

@Mansfield Man truck 1 had its first issue at 55k just like I said not at 105k. Crank sensor failed at 105k. And just to be clear and fill in the blanks about truck 2, it was a 2017 GMC Canyon. 3 years old and zero issues during the 65k while I owned it. Mostly the engine wouldn’t start intermittently, 3-4 warning lights come on while driving, codes trip every other day, etc. After two more weeks of tinkering it all comes down to poorly made relays. Over half of the relay’s silver plated contact disk inside were not aligned correctly. Just dumped my 2015 Silverado and got a 21 Tundra.
In all the videos of Fords/ Chevy/ Ram there is tons of people commenting in about how they have problems.
Me personally, my Silverado didn’t have major issues but I only drove it to 37k miles; and it never felt nice and smooth, always felt like it had gear issues, couldn’t figure out what gear it wanted to be in etc.
Then I read comments on the Tundra videos, and most of the comments were like: “I had mine for 300k miles no issues” etc etc very rare did I see a negative comment, or a lemon comment.
So I ditched the Silverado, and I’m putting my faith in Toyota. 21 tundra is the last V8 before they go to twin turbo V6 BS.

I’ve had friends and family with other brands that can tell a story similar to this guy. It happens. You can’t just make a blanket statement like GM sucks.
