When burning pellets, you fill just below the top holes and then use a fire starter on top of the pellets. You don't put a firestarter on the bottom and try adding pellets on top of the fire starter.

How do you get rid of the ashes on the xl just turn it over and shake the ashes out I guess

@@GearChaseTube same way you empty any solo stove, regardless of size. Just tip it over and dump it. I just roll mine through the yard on it's side. Spreads that fine wood ash across the lawn.

No, they do make accessories to cook with on the larger stoves, but not the smaller ones for now.
