Hi, Merry Christmas! Please be very careful with that brush, I am a professional dog groomer, and that is actually a very sharp dematting tool that has a blade on it. You need to be extra careful when using it on the paws, head, tail, and ears. It pulls the undercoat hair out, which is often what causes hair matting. It is very good to remove that undercoat, just be very gentle, as you were in the clip. :) Dude is a real cutie pie!! You are a good mommy to him!
Professional groomer here 🙋🏼♀️🙋🏼♀️ there is no magic way to keep doodles brushed.... daily brushing with a slicker brush and a comb will keep him matt free. Be very careful with the dematt take. Never use that on the face ears or in any other sensitive areas. I’m not sure where you go for grooming but most places will allow you to go in for a professional brush out! Dude is so cute!!
That’s weird that people said not to get dude taller bowls because every vet I’ve ever been to has said that leaving the bowls so low in the grown for a dog that size is not good for them. It forces him to have to lower their neck every time they eat or drink and that can cause some neck and back problems long term. I would consult his vet to see what he says.
MeteoricMarlin it’s a precaution for bloat. People really can’t agree on what causes bloat but some believe that the raises bowls can increase the chances of them developing the condition.
@@ceeIoc I agree, just like wolves in the wild they eat off the ground all their life, their bodies are made that way otherwise how else would they eat. But i havent asked a vet about that so i guess its up to them
I use the safari de matting comb from amazon for my goldendoodle and it works like a charm for getting the matts out that are down to the skin. Our groomers recommended it to us and I fell in love with it.
I use one too for bad matts but you have to be very very careful they are razor sharp on one side. I try to use a comb between the skin and the comb or my hand. Daily brushing will help keep the matts away.
I have never laughed so hard as watching Dude at the pool with his boots. So stinking adorable!!! I have 2 Scottish Terriers with double coats and the best brush I’ve found is actually the Wet & Dry brushes that I’ve purchased at my local TJ Maxx. They are technically for human hair but I tried them after one of my Scottie’s accidentally bit his groomer. It doesn’t pull the hair and gets tons of extra loose fur out. There is a meat market/beef farm in Clio, MI that also makes and sells bully sticks. I get them at a specialty dog food store down in Shelby Twp. With all the scary treats made in China it’s nice to know it’s local. Much more trust worthy!
I have a yellow lab and he hates drinking water from his water bowl and will actually sit in the bathtub when he’s thirsty! We have also tried the pet fountain he liked it at first but then decided he didn’t like it anymore and went back to the tub! I guess they like the nice fresh cold water!

I have two golden-doodles F1B, I strongly suggest getting bowls on a higher stand to match their neckline... Their food and water intake run through their esophagus when drinking/ from a bowl. Low stands are very small dogs. The bowls shown in the video are nice but better suited for a medium dog. If I am guessing right Dude is around 32-42lbs ... golden-doodles have high long legs as a result to the golden & poodle mix. The socks are brilliant. I have similar socks I purchase at a PetValue near me and they're awesome to avoid scratching of floors and allows the getting used to it so they're not in shock when having to wear boots in the rain or snow. Heyy so does Dude have an instagram... my pups share an account. Molly & Noah would love to add Dude.
Also, part the hair and spray the mat or tangle right near the skin with the detangler I post below. Another favorite thing is a coarse poodle comb. ( the prongs are spaced more and the pins are longer) longer pins help reach the skin.

i know it sounds funny but it works better than anything I've found for detangling. we have a long coat gsd and she gets matted easily. i use show sheen its a horse product and you get a lot of your money.

That's really good advice. A good dog food will also keep your dog's teeth in good shape. We fed my American Bulldog Natures Balance, she lived to be 13 a long life and her teeth were in perfect condition. My vet was even impressed. I rescued my current dog Buddy a year and a half ago and we feed him the same food. No people food. His teeth are so white he could do toothpaste commercials LOL :)
Have you been able to sell any of the stuff he doesn’t like, if you’re not able to return it? I think the brush is a knock-off furminator? Heard they actually massage too. That brush looks incredible though / is it still successful? The bully sticks are very $$$$ how long does one last?

I have a 6 month Goldendoodle named Cooper and he absolutely loves the Bully Sticks you recommended. However, how do you get past the awful smell of them? I’m afraid my house will start smelling like a bully stick. 🤣
Instead of the socks, you can clip the hair between his toes and clip his nails (if he is slipping everywhere, and you can hear the click of his nails on the floor, then they are too long), or get a groomer to do it.
Love Dude! I don’t think your crazy about getting him a coat. I have a miniature Dachshund named Molly and we live in Tennessee and the weather gets cold, raining, snow so she has a coat and sweaters. When it snows we have to shovel for her to go out or its to deep for her to walk. I think if you are going to have a pet that you need to take care of them! Hope you had a wonderful Christmas Day.

When dude was a puppy did he step in his poop and eat it? Also was he very active when he was a puppy? What age did he settle down. Dude inspired us to buy a groodle and so we did, but our little fella is a terror. Any advice would be great. Thank you
You really don’t need to have him wear socks in the house, their nails if trimmed shouldn’t touch the floor anyway. If they click when they walk, they’re too long Boots outside on tough terrain are ok to protect his feet though. But wearing them alllllll the time isn’t good for their feet

The dog food is the key to your dog's health. We feed our's Orijen very expensive but worth it.

If your dog finds it hard to drink out of it down on the floor try putting it on a stool where it's a comfortable place for him to drink
