    You almost lost that first one because you didn't break the birth sack as soon as you should have. If the airway is still covered when the puppy presents, rip that sack open so the puppy can breath.

      I honestly dont know how soon is soon. You think I should have ripped it of as soon as the head came out? I am praying hard while I am doing this though, not everything is shown In that part of the video - the pup was already stucked there for around 20 mins even longer i think. Thank you for bringing this up though but do let me know your thoughts.
      People commenting here says I should have not get involved with my dog’s birthing process. FYI we called the vet emergency and we were informed that the waiting line is 4 hrs minimum that night (during pandemic) and told us to assist the mom, so this time we have step up😞. I said to myself, I got to so what I got to do- this is the time to make use all of those other youtube tutorials about dogs giving birth. What you have just watched is the sum of it all.
      I have seen my aunts dog gave birth before and i saw how two pups died because nobody assisted the dog, which I believed could have been prevented. This is why I watched other youtube vids so I could assist my dog just in case, im super grateful for all thise people who shared their experiences. I know I’m not a vet, but I will do all that I can to prevent anything that I witness before with my aunts puppies to also happen to my sheerah’s babies.
      Thank you to those who watched with understanding - all anticipating fur moms. For those who hated this video, thank you for your time watching and even commenting - my dog and her pups are safe and alive, and been rehomes to amazing loving families, thats all that matters most to me.
      Its better to prepare for the worse than not to prepare at all.

      It is obvious from your video and explanation that you are a caring, responsible owner. You did a great job preparing for and helping during your dog's delivery, and the pups were all safe and sound. There may be some things that can be handled better (or even not? who am i to judge when every owner/dog's experience is different!), but you did the best you could with what you have known. So well done, and don't let the negative comments bother you. Hope the mom and pups are doing fine!

      I believe that the puppy was getting what it needed from the umbilical cord. As long as that is attached and pulsing the puppy doesn't need to breathe. You did right. You rubbed it and suctioned it. Good job. Cute puppies.

    People this is what not to do when your dog is having puppies, don't man handle the mother whom surely is in alot of pain and don't force the puppies out thats a natural process and it takes time for a reason, even first time fur moms know exactly what to do. She needs to contract to work them down and dilate just like us humans.

      Agreed. Our dog gave birth to 5 healthy puppies, and she did it all alone, knowing when to push and how to open the sacks and cut the cord and eat the placenta, licking the puppies and guiding them to her nipples . Nursing the ones born while giving birth to the rest…. I was there on the side, ready to help if she needed it.

    Always allow mom to do the work since it's her job momma. She knows what she is doing, I promise you. You can sit with her but allow her to do it by herself because if she has another litter.. she may be a little put off next time. Other than that good job❤p.s don't move her so much when she's in certain positions. She was pushing on the first one when you thought she wasn't.

    No disrespect, I’m sure she meant well.. but I never understand why these pet owners feel the need to assist in the birth of their dogs puppies instead of allowing nature to take it’s course. Even a vet wouldn’t step in during the delivery process unless something was wrong. Sherah’s babies would have come out on their own just fine and she would have known to chew the sack open bc it would have come naturally for her to do so. There was too much handling going on, she should have been allowed to clean those babies on her own as well. Really cute puppies, I’m glad things turned out well but I can assure you that in most cases the only thing your dog needs during the delivery process is to stroke her on the head and let her know you are there for her. 😊

    We helped my toy poodle give birth to four beautiful babies. The last one was huge - we named him Fred Flinstone because he was twice as big as the the smallest one. Mama birthed the first three on her own and cleaned them up by herself. She was tired by the time Fred came around and that was the only one we had to help with by literally pulling while she pushed. Thankfully all babies were healthy and lived past 15 years. The last one to go was almost 18 years old when his heart gave out.

  • @anetakawa6189
    @anetakawa6189 3 ปีที่แล้ว +41

    You manhandled mom so much. That was stressfull for her. Imagine being manhandled by people in small bed by doctors in hospital. During birth mother instinctively get into comfortable possition. And the worst thing I can possible imagine, you pushing her vaginal area instead of waiting for her to push during her contractions when she feels the need for pushing! Ugh I felt terrible for her. You could seriously injured her! And cutting the umbilical cord. Too soon! It needs to stop pumping the blood. Dog mum cleans the nose, activates respiratory and circulatory systems by licking puppy, clean. Duing that by you is less efective and takes away first bonding moments from mother and child. If birth is without any complications in humans child is not bathed first, newborn is given to mother after being checked by nurses and doctors. Those are most presious moments. And afterbirth, as gross as it looks for humans, it is important for many animals to eat. It has many nutrition values for mother after pregnancy.
    For next time let her do it on her own, best in place which she chooses. My dog gave birth in my bedroom, under my bed on her favorite blanket. I wanted her to feel safe so I checked a few times how was she. If anything would be wrong I had my veterinarian informed about situation so he would come. Other than that everybody were in the living room, they were watching tv but we all were trying to be as quiet as possible to not disturb her. She had fresh water and dimmed light of night lamp. She was giving birth at night. So when I was checking on her I didn't want to scare her with sudden light switching every time when I was entering the room. That is why I left that lights on, only to see if she needed me.
    If you want to help her next time, ask your veterinarian how to do it properly, okay?

    Just put her in the box she doesn’t need the doggie bed just put her in the box with some pads underneath her P pads, And you should have a heating pad for the puppies after they’re born you lay them on the heating pad to keep warm while mom has the rest of her puppies, in between puppies you should let the puppies suck on mommy it helps stimulate, helps the contractions! Please get the doggie bed out of the box and let the puppies lay on the mommy and the blankets you got there.

    Mother dogs usually care for their newborns and lick them clean. It may sound gross, but they use the placenta and amniotic sac as an energy source. I know you worried about the first baby, but it was getting blood through the umbilical cord. 20 min may seem like a long time, but a lot of humans take longer to push that baby out.

    I love watching animals birthing. But gee whizz you just keep taking over while the poor Mumma’s trying to give it a go. You’re not letting Mumma bond straight away when she’s birthed them. You can see Mumma’s dragging her Babies out of the towel. The bed is too cramped as well, she should have all her Babies in there with her getting that liquid gold into them. Pretty frustrating…

      Dogs giving birth need small, secure areas otherwise they can get territorial... if a birthing mother or new dog mother had too much space she would move the pups to a smaller, more closed off and more easily defendable area. It’s part of their instinct to protect the pups from threats :)

    hmmmmm I get it....but let nature take its course. The dog need to be the one pushing naturally... not have someone come and pull it out or squeezing the vaginal area...it could be painful for her.

    • @B23457
      @B23457 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Pushing on her own can be waaay more painful, and if she didn’t intervene, that first pup would be dead, since, according to her, it was stuck for around 20 minutes, and no, the umbilical cord wouldn’t keep him alive up to this point since his organism had already shifted to get oxigen by breathing, that is notable by the fact it was purple and not moving for a very long time even when stimulated by both the lady and the mommy doggo.

    I understand that you have never done that before, and there were situations when you really had to get involved, even if that is not obvious from the video, but here are some thoughts from me: please do not grab and drag the pregnant dog around just for the sake of the video, it was really hard to watch. I also agree with some comments saying that dogs usually know what they need to do, and people should be there just for emergency cases. I think you intervened too many times. Hope next time, if you have to assist again, you will learn from this experience. Maybe dogs don't deserve the same treatment as humans according to some people, but I think they do. Think about that, that you also don't want to be grabbed at your head or leg and dragged, especially when you are pregnant and just about giving birth, just so someone could shoot a cool video.

    Please let mamma dog do her job! Only supervise and interrupt if actually needed. She seemed to be doing very well. And no sperate container for the puppies please!

    • @B23457
      @B23457 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe if the separate container wasn’t there the mother’s attention would be too divided, the other puppies would get in the way of their sibling’s birth, so the temporary separation was not harmful, given that, they were only separated when she started giving birth to another pup and reunited right after it was born and nursed.p like all the others.

    First of all my comment is this... .Thank you for sharing your experience with the birthing process of your loving companions whom are members of your household. Congratulations to sherah and barney. 6 healthy puppies. Yeah .what playful beings they are becoming. So happy that you got to experience this in there lifetime .I was so relaxed by just seeing what would happen next . I'm sorry it seems like everyone else is so critical..or opinionated... Obviously sherah and barney are so much loved and cared for and have a good home.. have lots of fun watching these offspring toy and wrastle around. Looking forward to a update on your new additions.. thanks again for sharing this joyous occasion... Well wishes.

    Why in the world did you not let her do her thing? Dogs instincts kick in and they know what to do. This isn't a human baby where you need to assist. And taking the puppy away is the worst thing you could do. Let the mom do it all!!

      Thank you! This was insane! This is nature you let mum do what she is gonna do if she needs help then you assist. You was sqeezing the baby out like a pimple. There was so many things that could have went wrong. I get u love ur dog but the best thing for the dog u love is to have them fixed so then don't get cancer and you don't put more pups out into the world to be mistreated or not wanted.

      They don’t do it because they don’t have the capacity to do so, so we let other humans that can to assist us instead, that way both the mother’s and child’s well being can be more granted. Helping struggling beings to make things easier is not bad when it’s done the way she did, in a caring and inclusive manner.

  • @karendennis8931

    You were too hands on with her birthing her pups. Dogs already have natural instincts at this process. They have contractions just like people. This was sorry scary to start and then very odd to see you interfering after each birth, not allowing her maternal efforts to kick in on their on, even forcing pups to latch, wow! Also, you never gave any water doing the process, dogs need to hydrate sometimes while this goes on and even have a meal. Birth takes a lot of fuel and you should never pull pups out unassisted by medical professionals. If you were that concerned call your Vet!

    Absolutely beautiful family! I too believe that natural and on their own,for dogs and cats,is better, but owner’s know their dogs and they are THEIR dogs, so if they decide to help out this way, that’s their choice. Mom seemed happy to have the extra help and support. I’m no expert, so this is just an opinion. I’ve read that smaller breeds may need assistance, especially if it’s their first litter. Congratulations to the new family! 🐾❤️🐾
