The Guide elaborates on the techniques used on the show. The examples given in the th-cam.com/users/postUgkxECnmSvBSv_NGWx4_ChD73pF3NYZwI2F3 are helpful and some of the techniques suggested very useful. One such technique/tool suggested was the lure stick to encourage a small dog to keep up with the heel command. I have a small dog who lags behind smelling any and everything and find it hard to keep bending over while walking to his level. The lure stick is great also for another dogs focus and sprinting at anything that catches her eye. The stories about different dogs, their different temperaments, have been helpful, especially Lulu's: After reading about Lulu's challenges I felt relief concerning one of my rescues that I have had for 10 years. Over many years I have checked out many training books from the library, watched different shows, DVDS, bought training books, taken lessons and this book is the best by far! Kindness, patience and perseverance works.

    1. Make crate Disneyland
    - play in/around crate (hide food under bowls)
    - normalise crate (5 times a day, 5-10 mins)
    - open and close
    - feed in crate with slow feeder, door open then slowly close over days
    - food and groov

I am newly obsessed with your videos!! I am picking up our new puppy tomorrow (6/17/22) and I have learned so much over the last couple weeks! I even got a used Diggs crate to prepare for crate training. I also went and purchased raw/freeze dried dog food to transition my older dog and new puppy to. I am learning so much. Thank you for sharing all of your knowledge. Emily doesn’t have an issue with her crate at bedtime only when I go out. Today I put treats in her crate after breakfast. I put her inside & sat on the floor with the crate door open. She was suspicious at first but then relaxed. I later had to step out. I put her in the crate with treats & walked away. She whimpered a little bit but didn’t frantically bark. I called my son & he said she was calm downstairs in her crate & never cried. I know there’s more practice to do but I’m incredibly impressed how well your advise works. More comments to come in your other videos. Can we send pics? Would love to show off my baby girl. She’s a Maltese/Havanese mix.

What are you recommendations for those of us who work from home to start leaving the dog home alone in the crate? she's fine in the crate when we are around, and even when she's napping, but we've had her for 3 weeks now and haven't left her home alone yet! I loved watching your videos and tips. Before I ordering the Diggs Crate, should I need to get my female Bichon puppy a Revol Crate cover? Also, our bedrooms are upstairs, it’s ok to have her crate in our bed room or outside in the loft?

Go onto Facebook marketplace, craigslist, or even your local thrift shops but I would call them To see if they have them before going all over town.

I want to say that I think sometimes with some dogs you can’t just starts train them right away “hour 1” because when I first got my dog he had separation anxiety from his mom and his litter siblings so he was depressed and couldn’t just train home right away

This video was by far the best that I’ve seen. I watched 3 before this video. My dog is barley liking his crate. Do I put him in his crate at night? I don’t want scare him if he is barley getting use to it.

These are great! Will they work if your pup already has some negative feelings towards the crate?

Great video thank you. Our puppy still cries and howls in his crate if he’s done eating and/or we leave the room. We’ve worked up slowly and used all these tools. We are prisoners in our own home and need some encouragement as to how slow/long this process will be. It’s been over 3 weeks now of working on this.

Sadly no - we take turns doing errands or send him to daycare or get someone to watch him if we need to go out. It’s frustrating and depressing but he’s so darn cute!

    • @katebruno9255
      @katebruno9255 ปีที่แล้ว

@@laurenhudson1194 no, he’s a mutt. He was the 1st one to leave his litter/mom so perhaps related to that? I don’t know for sure but he’s super attached. We have also been experiencing a major crisis in the family so maybe he’s responding to that. For now we use a combo of daycare or grandparent sitting with him if we need to leave. If we try the crate for even 10mins without us here and then try again then next day he’ll run and hide so it’s impossible to be consistent. He is fine in there if we are home with him

Hey Rachel! We are looking at this one dog we want to adopt and she is a yorkie that was rescued from a hoarding situation so she is very shy and kind of scared of new things. Also, even though she is an adult, she isn't potty trained because again of the hoarding situation. Any tips on things to do? Especially on potty training an adult dog

Love this video - we got a 5.5 month old pup from a rescue 2 days ago and they said she is crate trained and slept in it at night with no issues - both nights we've had her she cries for an hour. Two questions, 1. what are we doing wrong? 2. if they get up to go potty in middle of night do we just put her right back in? when we do she cries again :(

Dogs are situational, which means being comfortable in a crate in one place may not translate to the same thing in your home
Start at step one, make the crate Disney land and go slow. You got this!
