Infernal Machine is my favorite game from my childhood and I'm so grateful that I was able to record the longplay for it. I originally played the PC version, played through it many times and also started speedrunning it 4 years ago. I wasn't aware of the Nintendo 64 port until two years ago. Once I did, I just had to get a real Nintendo 64 to be able to experience it on real hardware! :D Looking at the N64 version critically, it represents some of the best and at the same time worst on the system. Developers Factor 5 did an amazing job, being able to fit in all the content from the PC original's 2 CDs to a single 32 MB cartridge, including the full voice acting, plus adding beautiful new menus and a few new pieces of music. Graphically, it is one of the most impressive games on the system with huge, detailed levels without a render distance limited by fog and an upgraded lighting system compared to the PC version. The N64 port also massively improved the game's controls going from a Tomb Raider-like tank controls system to a Zelda-inspired stick centered control scheme. Unfortunately, it is also probably the least polished game on the N64 because its development was rushed as the manpower dedicated to the project was shifted in favor of Star Wars Episode 1 - Battle for Naboo (also released in December 2000). As a result, Indiana Jones on N64 is plagued by many bugs and is one of the few games that can freeze even on original hardware which caused occasional troubles when recording this longplay. The framerate also isn't great, taking a nosedive in most levels of the second half of the game. Ultimately, the game is definitely a flawed masterpiece but I still love playing it and speedrunning it. I firmly believe that, whether on PC or N64, it is the best Indiana Jones videogame to date.
Since kovic is too humble about it.. you can also head over too his channel to find speedruns of the game. That's how I originally found him for this recording ^^
Fun fact. The original script involved aliens but G. Lucas said that something along the lines that it was a bad idea and aliens don't belong in the Indiana Jones universe. So he later proceeds to make > Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull 😅
Thanks for the walkthrough just started playing the game on Nintendo 64 man this game is so dark it's hard to see certain areas where you're supposed to jump up that's why I'm following your walkthrough when I get stuck :)
Thanks. I was playing the new one, pretty fun so far, and I always remembered this one from going over to my friends house to play and I wanted to see if someone had posted any footage of it
I remember playing this on the N64, could never beat the final boss. Did you have issues with recording on Meroë and King Solomon's Mine level? I only ask because I see a weird jump in footage.
I mean ngl I had a prediction when Dial of Destiny comes out that we're gonna hear people say things like "wow Dial of Destiny was so bad it makes Kingdom of the Crystal Skull look like a masterpiece in comparison" like how I've seen that with the SW Sequels recently
I’m waiting for him to write a comment, but I basically invited him to record this considering he’s a professional speedrunner for this game and he was able to supply the best footage
Please please please tell me how you made it look anything close to this on the N64. Half of the levels (when you go inside or are in dark shade) shows up so dark on my TV, it’s almost impossible to play. And yes, my brightness is turned up to full blast. What are you doing to make your picture so completely different from mine?
Some other games are like that too and I believe it’s due to the backlight that CRT’s used to have. See if you can adjust any other settings on your TV
Die spiele von Factor 5 würden mir noch einfallen: Rouge Squadron und Indiana Jones. Factor 5 hat auch die Sound Kompression zu Resi 2 beigesteuert. Ziemlich smarte Spitzbuben damals!
@@ripewatermelonlol Factor 5 made the game so they should know they said it wouldn't have been possible on a disc based system as they needed cartridges due to the large levels and amount of stuff in them that simply couldn't have been stored in the ram of PS1 or neo geo cd so the cartridge saved the day.
I still can't figure out how to swim up, loll. There's a button to dive which becomes the swim button but I just swim in circles trying to go up. No matter what buttons I hit, just stuck
@@longplayarchive it's all cool. I only played it because someone was curious how it ran on the retroid pocket 3+. Perfect besides not being able to swim up 😆

The PC version is a lot better than the N64 version even though on PC there no mods to alter the game experience after beating the game for the very first time.

same. and i love it, started to play it yesterday :D
it's so satisfying to hear that fanfare that plays when you collect all the treasures in a level.

Happy to hear!
LucasArts and Factor 5 should have just been subsidiaries of each other, seeing as though they collaborated quite a lot
Thanks so much I love this game and I still have my n64 copy too
The first I ever heard of this game was of how utterly broken it is. It'll be interesting seeing a normal playthrough.
Like the waterwheel at 50:35?
This game is essentially Tomb Raider for the N64 but with the Indiana Jones license slapped on it.
With a dash of Ocarina of Time.
@@Acmecaboosehaha yeah the item placement at the top right is identical lol
Damn... The gameplay seems way more fluid than the PC version.

A fantastic game for Nintendo64
I remember this game being jank af as a kid, but loving it lol. Recently picked up a good condition copy off ebay for my collection.

Im trying to play this on an emulator and it wont let me climb ladders. Is there a button you have to push?
Yeah, A. The issue I'm having with it on emulator is I can't swim up so the second I'm in water, I'm fucked, loll

I can imagine lol, it’s even hard now
