    I'm an Australian working remote here in Guadalajara... Was trying to work out why everything was so quiet today and then I found out it was a public holiday in Juarez's honour.... So now hanging out with a glass of wine listening to this in the evening. Cheers mate! 🍷

    Having lived in mexico for a year, literally every city, has a colonia and a street named after him. It is crazy how much is honored throughout the country.

    I like that you named the video "Benito Juárez" in his honour!

    I would love to watch a video about Getúlio Vargas in Brazil! I feel like african, south american and south east asian history are neglected by education channels.

      Definitely agree, there's a lot of parts of the world that aren't as well covered. Vargas is an interesting figure as well.

    not sure if you still take requests or suggestions or anything considering how your latest video blew up;
    regardless I’d like to request coverage of the Mesoamerican nations of Mexico, particularly the Tlaxcalteca and their crucial role in ancient, Spanish, and modern Mexico.
    Also I am partially Tlaxcalteca and can speak a little bit of Nahuatl, so perhaps I’ve got a bit of bias in this sense haha
    Congrats on your latest video, and thanks for covering Benito Juárez!

      I don't "take requests" as such but sometimes I do look to comments for inspiration. Since this is a topic close to you, I encourage you to try making a video on it yourself since you'd probably do a better job than an outsider like me.

      @@SignoreGalilei This is a good idea, I might try if I can figure out how to edit a video properly. Thank you!

      There's more in the sources that I used - at least the "profiles in power" one is available on the Internet archive for borrowing.

      Juárez's statue is at 1200 Conti St, but I do not know exactly where he lived or worked. If you can find one of the books referenced in the description, there might be more information there. There may also be more information in Spanish language sources than English ones.

    • @SignoreGalilei
      @SignoreGalilei  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Because he's such a short guy? ;) Seriously though, I mention some books in the video's description that might have more of what you're looking for - the "Profiles In Power" book in particular is available to borrow as an ebook from Internet Archive.

      @SignoreGalilei because Maximilian was trying to adopt the American system. He was giving land to the Americans so they can colonize the north. Bonito Juarez was a free Mason who sold mexico. He started the war and gave so much land to the USA and mexico was never able to adopt the economic system of the Americans. The free masons did not want a power house next door especially not a catholic one. The free masons are the ones who started the Civil War also. They have been pushing the central bank agenda for a thousand years. Bonito Juarez is a tyrant that ruined mexico.
