- Everybody's heard of Santa Anna, but do you actually know what he did? Mexico's most frequent president has more to his story than just the Alamo.

I tried a lot of new things in this video. I'm still experimenting and looking for ways to improve, so I'd love your feedback! I mostly am trying this is differentiate my videos from the other animated history videos out there. Nice new video Connor, been a long time since we last saw you
Truth be told I found the face cam a bit disruptive to the flow of the video.
Fun fact, Santa Anna pulled a Caligula and gave an official title to his horse.
I didn’t know that actually

No no no, thats TEXAS. In mexico they say "¡Hola Gringo!"
Gouvernment: exists
Santa Anna: So anyways, I started blasting!
Loool
Video didn’t explain that a Mexican government was led by President who was declared an Emperor, so a civil war broke out to have him (Iturbide) removed.
Santa Anna is the most Mexican Mexican to ever Mexican.
Nope he is definitely not.
Thats actually a good way to put. Even though he was ethnically Spanish.

Born in Spain yes!
As a Mexican i can confirm that sepia colour, cinematic black bands and guitar solos are part of our daily life
It’s just something you have to deal with
As a guy living right next to the border, I can confirm that the moment I step into Mexico to get my fucking groceries (Nogales am I right) a disembodied guitar follows me around constantly playing norteño

He’s the Mexican equivalent of Ivan the Terrible.
No, not really. He's just an idiotic playboy which got waaay too much power for some reason.
@@mshaqed2538 that reason is because he was a decent military leader who could quickly rally large armies together, which meant the mexican government was willing to use him in desperate times, but soon forced him out after, over and over.
@@cageybee7221 also he kept quoting his job over and over.
@@elmascapo6588 that's like saying you can't call caesar a decent military leader because he lost over 300 battles, both still took power repeatedly and lead major offensives and defenses of their home country where massive armies few other leaders could muster were involved.

“Six people died at your party.” That to me sounds like rookie numbers.
At least triple digits or your party sucks!
FUN FACT: in the last battle of the Texan revolution, the battle of San Jacinto, the Mexicans had 1,360 soldiers with a single cannon and the Texan troops had 910 soldiers with 2 cannons. the Mexican casualties consisted of 608 soldiers while the Texans had some enormous casualties of 11 troops. (only counting deaths)
That was not a battle but a coward massacre

To give you a taste of how Mexicans feel about Santa Ana, i was visiting my wife's family in mexico city and looking up things we could visit i mentioned driving to Santa Ana ranch. She responded with "I'm surprised that it hasn't been burned down"
He has a complicated legacy for sure

Pog. New Video.
Ive watched you for a long time, and this new style was genuinely a breath of fresh air. Definitely different from the other animated history channels, and definitely authentic. Well done, and please make more!
Thanks for the feedback! There seem to be people on both sides of the aisle in regard to the new style, so I’ll have to figure out a way to bridge the gap

This new style isn't bad! I think it suits your persona. Well done man 👏

Jimmy is in the trash compactor
I just love how this guy won a few small battles against the spanish in the independence war (after serving spain for most of it) and built an entire political career based solely on those victories (because he didn't really have any other real victories).
Also, could you do a video on Ataturk next? The guy had some serious personal issues and yet still proved himself as one of the best generals that ever lived.
Ataturk is definitely an interesting dude
I've just stumbled across your channel recently and have watched a number of videos. I so enjoy the history lessons and the humourous way you write and deliver. Nice job! A +

Im related to Santa Anna. Always great to learn about your ancestors lmao
There’s an episode of King of The Hill where The USA gives Santa Anna’s leg back to Mexico. Did that really happen or was it just made up?
I don’t think so hahaha
"a sexually defeated Santa Ana was then ambushed while taking a nap and kidnapped by the Texans"
I suggest making a video about the Spanish-American war and how the US became a big imperialist country
Could you do a video on Miguel Hidalgo? He has a longer name, a more succesful militar carrier and sexual history, was an intelectual and a priest, and it's also the Father of the Country
How many rebellions you wanna launch?
Santa Anna: Yes
Honestly this was a very informative and absolutely hilarious video
What you did does work but it is a bit distracting. You do a great job treating characters and world building the history and then your face pops up and kinda takes us out of it. It was still a great view and worked well but maybe do it a tiny bit less and only at major transitions. Love you and glad to see you trying new things and gaining support.
You have my sword
Just my 2 cents on the change, your face breaks the animation flow. Now if you only made a few appearances for effect it might be a lot better and actually add to the charm. That said I seem to be in the minority it seems so up to you.
Actually, the majority of comments I’ve seen seem to agree with you. Thank you for the feedback!
12:27 oh, THIS is when things get weird? Not before?

This is like oversimplified in a alternate universe
I google his full name. I thought you were joking but evidently his name really is that ridiculously long. Huh you learn something everyday.
Dude you're videos are dope
You really just blew over the Alamo and the battle of San Jacinto that ruined Santa Anna’s military career (kinda). He got his cheeks slapped at San Jacinto, it’s a funny and cool story
You need to do move videos on epic historical figures like this!
Wow, your animation skills have really improved. You almost look lifelike! Hehehe...
