I’m trying a Masc horizontal one for my new revolver. They’re not overly expensive but still seem solid and well-made, and they were one of the very few makers listing holsters specifically for my gun, a S&W 629 Performance Center 2.625” barrel.
I don’t really care if it’s made in Turkey. Erdogan isn’t exactly the nicest man, but that doesn’t have anything to do with the quality of Turkish products.
I’ve had several guns from Turkey and they’ve all been quite nice.

thx for the thorough review. I realize this was 3 years ago and dk if you go back & look at the comments. but if you,or anyone else could help,i’d appreciate it. i have just now begun to think of getting a shoulder holster. I f you could picture/imagine the way I am thinking about using it i’d like any input anyone might have.#1…I have not ever had a chance to put any shoulder holster on. just to feel how it feels. that would give me an idea of if it’s something i even want to pursue at all. Assuming I try one on with no gun or mags & decide to proceed.. I have in mind, using it to comfortably & easily use for mostly outdoor activities. I enjoy canoe camping. i don’t see needing to do much quick drawing or anything along those lines. I just want to be able to slip it on & wear it around camp, walking through the woods, ducking underneath low branches, maybe jumping accross the occasional small creek ect. so in my mind,i’m thinking that vertical would be the better way to go & as far as the magazines go. I am thinking about possibly having them riding right side up rather than the conventional unsnap and pulling down.If that makes sense to whomever MIGHT see this inquiry..There’s always the chance that I wind up in the water & have to auquardly climb back into the boat.unlikely but it is possible in a worst case scenario. I’m thinking of all the bending over, squatting down ,carrying arms full of stuff ,paddling, ext ect & everything else associated with being in those out doors types activities. also, I think leaving the excess length for adjustment might be a good thing.for weight fluctuations, bulking up muscle, ect. that might not be the case but in any event,a few additional chicago screws seem like a possible necessity.unless they become a comfort issue.some times there is a good chance that i might get up in the morning and take the rig off of the short cut off branch on a tree that i might have it hanging on or whatever the case may be & just slipping it on. again, since i have never even tried one on,I have not a clue how it will feel. & the loops connected to the belt. I’m picturing possibly getting the fit somewhere in the middle where i don’t use them. but then again i might love the stability of that aspect of a holster like this. lastly, leather and chicago screws & snaps, possibly even pull the dot snaps may come into play with the unconventional setup i’ve got in mind. i maybe overthinking this whole thing + fixing something that isn’t broken to begin with. IDK. any thoughts? thx
PS. i believe leather is the way to go.but is there any chance that some material like a codura may be a possible good idea?or not. these are expensive to buy & i’ve even considered making my own. The gun i’m thinking about carrying in this type of holster is a grand power Mk 12 Excalibur .The earlier version with the bull barrel. & 2 mags seem standard. just a good evenly weighted setup is the goal i suppose..thx

Overall it's a good holster after several adjustments. My only complaint is my thumb gets slightly trapped between my body and the grip when I go to draw the weapon. Also getting my thumb on top of the safety during the draw is more challenging. I carry a Sig P226 Legion SAO.

When asked what I want for "right hand draw and left hand draw" for a right handed person. Do I want the holster under the "right hand draw"? An mag under the "left hand draw"? Or is it asking what I want under my right arm, which being right handed would not be the holster since I obviously want it under my left arm. ... I prefer shoulder holsters most of the time .. but having troubles getting one made to fit my CZ P10 ... seems that the leathercrafters use a Glock 19 ..which fits fine ,to form the holster but the CZ thumb strap is about 1" longer and they obviously don't have a firearm or dummy gun to fit... so far have 3 makers do the same thing ,, and Either I have to fix it myself ,, find a local leather shop to extend the thumb strap or return them ,,which is a hassle in itself ... 2 of the makers you showed here ... seems that it's all about mass production ,,not fit and finish ..

Why would you cut a holster? (I’m very ignorant when it comes to knots, straps, etc.)

      @FirearmsofAmerica  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

So that you do not have unnecessary extra material hanging around. You can also tape it if you don't want to cut it.

can the craft be worn without the belt attachment? I don't wear a belt?

Unfortunately not. The attachments are permanently mounted. I would not recommend a vertical shoulder holster without belt attachments anyway though.

How about with a back strap? I want roto vertical carry without the belt loops. @@FirearmsofAmerica

I stand 5'8" at 205 lbs ..... I am right in the the middle of the weight and height of the average American male.
Took 8 months for Alien Gear to send the correct part for the shoulder holster... then I had to call back 6 times to correct their error.
The gun shell sent did not fit my Sig 229.
The gun canters out away from the chest towards the arm, so much so that
it is impossible to draw the weapon.
That was the first canter problem.
The second is that once the holster is on ... the weapon also naturally falls so far behind the side of
the ribcage that it is not possible to draw the weapon as it it is out of reach of the right hand ....
and adjusting the belt clip forward does nothing to effect the position of the gun under the armpit.
I can't wait to get rid of this piece of crap! I wish I'd never heard of this company.
Their products at crap and because of poor design it put lives in danger!
Don't waste your money on this crap!

Horizontal...Point the barrel at the person behind you, lovely. This is the first gun safety rule, always point your gun at other people.

DeSantis I usually wear a bit relaxed, but my Aker sits pretty high and depending on a type of gun you carry, it might be a bit fatiguing if you wear it that high... The higher you wear it though, the better support in my experience.
