I've said it before and I'll say it again, I hate that they have made the Penance form Monet's go-to move. Especially since it was a separate body that was used to punish her. It was a prison but now it's being written like it's a part of her power set. She doesn't even need it with all of her other abilities.
I don't know, man... I'm tired of every Black Panther story being... he's somehow deposed as King of Wakanda... AGAIN. And must fight his way back to the throne. While The Most Dangerous Man Alive and Intergalactic Empire of Wakanda were fine (much more so in the case of "Dangerous" than "Intergalactic"), I would just like Black Panther to be awesome as Black Panther; gear, herb (the heart-shaped one, duh!), Dora Milaje and all. His Secret Invasion story was freaking jaw-dropping . Nearly the entirety of Hudlin's and Priest's runs were great. His battle with Namor during the Incursions was shocking. THAT's the BP I want to see! Not always as the failed king. Not a good look for the brother to always be portrayed as someone who is untrustworthy, unable to lead and an embarrassment to his nation.
It's the superman complex. Taking his power away (in this case, his right to rule) is the only way they know how to create conflict for T'Challa while also letting him do Black Panther stuff. I think it's more of a result of uncreative writing, because there's so much more you can do with a Warrior-King archetype.
@adrianrussell7769 This is exactly the reason why I wouldn't consider it an agenda; I honestly just think writers don't know what else to do with him. Even Black writers somehow fail to make Black Panther interesting without having to strip his power. But at least in the Hudlin and Priest runs, he was so larger-than-life and awesome that the trope didn't feel malicious. With other writers, it's just, "this, again?!". I honestly don't know why writers can't write BP as a benevolent Doom. Their academic and physical prowess is pretty much equal, and they already respect each other enough to admit it. Maybe Wakanda could invade Latveria, where Panther and co. (he'll have some help in the form of Daredevil, Storm, and She-Hulk) would face Victorious and Doom's mutant group. Maybe BP destabilizes the U.S. economy by buying all the gold, as a show of force after America threatens Wakanda to join NATO (of course, he would restore the economy after). Or stopping the U.S. from sending Super-Soldiers to a foreign nation to establish a puppet regime. Or having to fight the Winter Soldier (aka Revolution). Or going after Frank Castle for executing a Wakandan criminal. Or infiltrating the Sanctum Sanctorum because he realizes that in order to face Doom, he's going to need a rudimentary knowledge of sorcery. Or teaming up with Blade to fight Dracula and a vampire horde who plans to set up shop in Wakanda. Or the return of Klaw. Or the return of Moses Magnum, who creates earthquakes in Wakanda to mine vibranium. How about a story where Iron Man and BP come into conflict, and BP battles Iron Man, and wins WITHOUT having to build a new armor to counter Tony's; just using his wits, skills and whichever version of the Panther costume the writer chooses. Or a story arc where M'Baku protects his clan from a new super-powered Wakandan threat. So many story possibilities...
Honestly T’Challa has been running away from his throne since joining the Avengers in the 60s or 70s. I felt Coates dealt with that by reconciling him as a reluctant king devoted to duty more so than title (I think?) but at this point leave him free of being king indefinitely or have him be king without back and forth because it’s boring, tired, we don’t like it, and that’s why this is being cancelled.
Ghost rider/Wolverine, Hulk, Thor and Spiderman all dealing with Demons,Old One's or God's and now Black Panther curious if this is all to do with the "GODS" comic plus the new hierarchy marvel has been setting up past few year's: One Below All, Enigma/Dominion, WhiteKings/Beyonders+Black kings/The Eventually
I think these stories are disservice to the Black Panther mytho first of all, we got plenty of white superheroes that are kings or rulers of their perspective lands, and none of them ever lose their throne. Yeah it's like every time they come out for Black Panther comic it's about him losing his throne. I mean come on they gotta start coming up with better stories. It's like you can't tell a story of this character without actually taking away the thing that makes this character interesting it's service to the readers. It's really a slap in the face to Black people because we don't only ones written like this and it's becoming old and boring. We just had to lose powers in fact 4×6 times was named already and this one video let's just keep it 100 Marvel don't know how to write black characters to the point that even the Black people rwriting the characters don't know how to write the characters.
