Kistigris született! / Baby tiger born at Debrecen Zoo & Amusement Park!

A világon mindössze 3600 tigris él, ebből fele állatkertekben, rezervátumokban. Európában évente 10-15 szibériai tigris születik. A Debreceni Állatkert és Vidámpark 1973 óta mutat be tigriseket.
Több, mint 6 év előkészítő munkájának eredményeként végre egészséges utóddal gyarapodott az Európai Fajmegmentő Program (EAZA EEP).
A 8 hetes szibériai hím kistigris szülei, Miska és Róza 2014-ben érkeztek meg Debrecenbe és a Nagyerdő fái alatt hamar egymásra is találtak. Debrecen első kistigrise április 21-én született. Anyjának azonban sajnos nem volt teje, így a kézből való nevelés mellett döntöttünk. Kollégáink nagy titokban és odaadással nevelték az elmúlt hetekben és eljött a pillanat, hogy felfedezze a Nagyvilágot!

There are only 3600 tigers in the world, half of them are living in Zoos and Wildlife sanctuaries. Debrecen Zoo & Amusement Park has been keeping the largest cat species of the World, the Amur tiger subspecies since 1973.
This subspecies along with the Sumatran tiger ssp. are involved in the European Association of Zoos and Aquaria’s (EAZA) European Endangered Species Programme (EEP).
The parents of the baby tiger, Mishka (Zoo African Safari) and Rose (Port Lympne Reserve) arrived in 2014 within this programme and they quickly fell in love.
A forty year old dream has come true with the birth of the first tiger cub of Debrecen who is now more than 8 weeks old. He remained in healthy condition, despite first-time mom Rose’s maternal instincts did not kick in so we decided to hand-raise him to save his life. It’s not uncommon for first-time tiger moms not to know what to do. Our colleagues are doing their best to help him grow strong and healthy. Watch him starting to explore the Whole New World!
