Yeah you'd be amazed at how unbelievably anal metalheads can be over bands like Bring Me The Horizon and BABYMETAL. But over time I think that they've warmed up to them to where now they're pretty much one of the flagship bands for metal. However, I do not think Uzi is a talented enough artist to where he can flesh out those ideas, to the point where it just feels like that whole "rocker" aesthetic that Uzi sports was never meant to be anything more than just that. And that's not to say that he can't express his love for rock in his own unique way, but I just don't think he did enough. The metal cuts feel like he just got official songs from both bands and put them on his album without much contribution. That and that Chop Suey! cover was absolute doo doo water. This album felt like a bunch of pretty cool ideas that Uzi didn't flesh out.
Bring me the horizon isnt metal most of the time, you literally look it up and it says rock band on google. Saying “one of the flagship bands for metal”, is just wrongand ignorant. People who really like metal will probably not like this very much, not that some will, but most wont.

He didn’t say Travis had a good verse he said it was at least better than Uzi’s and even then he said that was an extremely low bar to pass. Listen next time
I feel like these are the kind of people that listen to a song and say that it’s the best thing ever. Then they play it until they are tired of hearing it. It’s not good music, but they hype it up like it is
uzi stans in general are trying so hard to convince themselves its a misunderstood masterpiece. they want it to be wlr 2.0 so bad. but what they dont realize is that 80% of pink tape is basic leftovers from the Eternal Atake era
Oddly enough, I can tell this album is heavily intended to be performed live at concerts. We'll see what the REAL value of Pink Tape is once he starts the tour in October and videos from the concerts start coming out
its gonna grow on him promise. Ngl there has not been a single album except for maybe wlr and some of uzis old albums where i can see i liked first listen. I liked every single song on this album first listen and the rock shit didn't catch me off guard cuz its uzi. Also, because i was into rock and metal for a good moment of my life so i didn't have to adjust to it. From the chop suey cover and bring me horizon feature as well as the babymetal feat i loved it all.
Issue is im not going to give an extremely bloated album that I found annoying another listen. I mean its 26 tracks for gods sake its just far far too long
@@Calebe428 nah fax I don’t like long ass albums but I gave it a chance and it worked out for me so moving forward if it’s an artist that I fw I’ll give it a chance.
That's how it sounds the first few listens but after a while u get how it flows. It starts out with hype rager songs then goes to singing emotional songs then metal then classic uzi. The album does have a flow
The strategy is to put out a variety as some people will like other songs that other people don't like. It's like a shotgun approach. I only found like 2 songs I liked. But other liked more
Everything Shawn said on this review was true. This album someone with Uzis caliber & the resources he has/could get is very generic to me. Album feels like he made this in a week. Alot of the songs play out far too long making them boring. Beats are generic with a few exceptions. On the werewolf & the end track (my favourites btw) feels like uzi should've been the feature. And lets not talk about the CS (Chop Suey) cover.. why does that even exist I get hes tryna be experimental & shit but its on the final cut of the album?? really?
Felt the EXACT same way. An insane amount of bloat I remember looking down on “spin again” and thinking holy hell how am I barely halfway through. On top of this a lot of samples and sounds are all just curated terribly on more experimental tracks with uzi notably lacking in contribution.
This album was pretty bad imo, if he wanted to make rock music then he should drop a rock album fully embracing the sound and not rap but this rock/rap shit is ass, I think songs will grow on me tbh but first listen I didn’t fw it
Shawn is actually one of the biggest haters like every album has to be near perfect for him to say it’s good. He ain’t even a rap fan tbh he always is complaining that it’s so bad.
I am mixed about it. Because pretty much all of these songs are really good to work out to or listen to live and the sampling and beats is insane on this album. But uzi doesn’t have no variety on the album. It doesn’t sound like a rock album to me it sounds like a hard modern rap album. And there’s nothing wrong with that. But I’m only going to be listening to this while I’m hooping or working out 5/10 for me EDIT: Werewolf is fire
I just wanted to say that in the track “Fire Alarm” Uzi is sampling “Stress” by Justice, is not about the classic creepy violin they use in scary movies
Album was a cluster fu*k, no direction . Music been so ass this year bro, but anyway I can’t defend this album and I’m a Uzi fan. It’s crazy how the last 4 tracks was probably the light side of the album. “Days come and go” is my favorite song.
I haven't heard it yet. But idk if it's worth it. But he said it out of his mouth, it sounds like Whole Lotta Red. I been telling these delusional ass Carti fans that he sounds like Uzi and lo and behold.
I personally fw most of the album, but I understand all of your criticism for it 😂 shit sounds like a rough draft of something that could’ve been great, but it’s just kinda all over the place. I like weird ass music, so this was decent to me lol Also that Chop Suey cover was straight Dookie butter. Uzi should be ashamed of himself😢
this is so crazy, this album and wlr have the same effect. you love it so much or you only like a few songs or hate it. no in between. this shit a 9/10 for me that might sound crazy but i fuck with it heavy
Pink Tape review Not aoty but it’s above average tho 6/10 first listen it’s lots of reasons why a lot people that like “highly anticipated albums” first listen automatically say it’s aoty cause on the hype from it & the artist who made it it was just a decent tape that was highly anticipated. The album sequence is terrible & it has a lot lack of depth Luv is rage 2 is better 14/26 actually Edit: patience is the best song 🎵
@@michaelmaguire4374I think he means in the long term. It has no replay value. Even his meat riders such as yourself will barely listen to this again. It's sad how many yes men there are supporting these artists. That's why they never evolve or do better
For everyone saying it’s going to grow on people like WLR, you’re just wrong. If you like it of course you are perfectly justified but I’ve heard this about every Uzi project since LUV is Rage 2. Let’s be real Uzi bit Carti for most of the first half of the album with nothing unique outside of a few adlibs. The reason why WLR wasn’t praised until later is the same reason as Yeezus MOTM 808’s and so many more albums weren’t because they were experimental mainstream albums that are completely unconventional that it took a while for people to get behind. WLR introduced a type of trap punk that hadn’t been promoted before on a mainstream scale and look at the influence it’s had already. This album won’t have any influence and there’s nothing innovative about what Uzis doing at all other than the track “Just wanna rock” which was unique beat and performance wise and this was something I was hoping to hear more of here but there wasn’t anything. Y’all said the same shit with Eternal Attake and people don’t seem to be listening to that now or have changed their opinions on it. If you like it fair enough but the “you don’t understand it” “everyone’s going to change their mind” comments are so annoying.
I completely agree. The “experimental” aspects of the album were literally just covers of songs that were already made. With uzi adlibs. Not creative at all or experimental.
It’s crazy cause all the snippets and build up towards this album was advertising a completely different vibe. Remember demon high and the psycho leak like what happened to all that??
Its not even the fact that some of these have rock vibes, but some of these are remixes and covers. Dudes creativity is declining. Bro his adblibs are not even hitting the same, which is crazy to say, then that groan shit it just wasnt working for me. To me it felt like a Trippie vibe.
Or maybe the game is changing. Trap ain’t all that anymore and ppl aren’t realizing it, rappers and trap fans themselves. Ppl like trap less than they think they do rn. The game’s gonna change a lot in like 3 years.
They always say that shit tho. You ever been in the comment section of an NBA YB album after it drops? 3 albums could come out in the same year and somehow they’ll all be AOTY. It’s a meaningless phrase now

Best way of putting it
Yeah you'd be amazed at how unbelievably anal metalheads can be over bands like Bring Me The Horizon and BABYMETAL.

Should’ve made it a double album and had the first side as his typical hip hop stuff and had the second side as the rock stuff

The album does have a flow
We need to get back to the point of albums not being over 16 songs long…all this just to get more streams

Everything Shawn said on this review was true. This album someone with Uzis caliber & the resources he has/could get is very generic to me. Album feels like he made this in a week. I am mixed about it. Because pretty much all of these songs are really good to work out to or listen to live and the sampling and beats is insane on this album.
“Just Wanna Rock” was a single…? It’s barely an interlude

It’s crazy cause all the snippets and build up towards this album was advertising a completely different vibe. Remember demon high and the psycho leak like what happened to all that??
