    Very helpful ideas on how to store paintings.

      Hi Kathy, thank you for watching. I use all of these methods depending what stage I'm at when exhibiting. I particularly use my make shift shelf when I'm undecided as to how I want to frame my art pieces. So glad this video was helpful.

      @@Xrissart I have quite a few unframed pastel paintings that I've stored in a large gift box with glasseine sheets between the paintings. But I'd like to be able to sell some without frames, and maybe with matt board, so customers could take to a framer to complete.
      I sold one of my larger works a couple of years ago, and ended up getting it framed and then shipped because I couldn't find a satisfactory way to post the painting. Even though the customer was happy to pay the postage. The insurance I decided to take out, in case the glass broke on the way there, deminished most of my profits.
      So thanks for your helpful demonstration.

    I would like to see more about the matt framing I will try to look in your video library too, as this is an older video! maybe you already answered the question! It did not pop right up in my search, do you use a hidden pocket to catch debris? or? Thanks for the video! Have a lovely day.

    Xrissart, what about using regular frame
    and apply UV film on the glass to protect
    the art work?
    We use the UV film on ours windows.
    Thank you for sharing.

    I work on larger sheets of sanded paper (18x24) and they are suseptible to curling in humid conditions. I mount them to foam core stock before I paint on them, making them a little easier to handle. But storing them is an issue. Once completed, I usually apply a finish layer of fixative and then cover the piece with sheets of tracing paper and carefully stack them until I frame the work. This seems to work for me.
    Do you use a final fixative? I am curious if other pastel artists do the same.

      Mono thank you so much for watching and your question. I dont use fixative at all. I've had too many negative results and I find the surface has a lot to do with it. The make shift shelving out of the foam core has been terrific as I feel that my work is safe until I decide how I want frame my work. The Glassine pouches are such God send too. Every artist is different and we all have different ways doing things, but I think we're all heading in the same direction. Again thank you for your question.👍🎨

    Oh, where do you get your glassine and foam board? I'm in Qld.

    • @Xrissart
      @Xrissart  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      G'Day Lindy, I think most art supply shops have Foam Board, not sure about Glassine paper. I get these from Eckersley's (I checked, Eckersley's are also in QLD, Brisbane, Goldcoast, Milton & Lutwyche).

    For how much does the framing cost?

    • @Xrissart
      @Xrissart  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Reaberilla, thank you for your enquiry. Sometimes framing can be expensive and inexpensive. I couldn't tell you exactly how much framing costs, It all depends on your budget and what you want to do with your paintings/drawings. When I put my paintings in shows or exhibitions they have to be framed with D ring hooks and/or strong hanging string on the back. I also mostly use UV resistant glass this helps to protect the painting from light and fading in time (this process is expensive). I sometimes matt frame my work also (this process in inexpensive). In a nutshell I suppose it depends on your budget.:)
