UPDATE: The ps5/ps4 cross gen update now works due to a recent ps5 patch update released 11/17/2020. So as of today the game seems to playable now for users that were unable able to play.

Today, over 1 year later i have EXACTLY the same Problem. I have only the ps5 version and am spending hours of my free time trying to fix a problem, players are having for more than a year. Guess i have to re Download that 300 GB - Just wow!
Go to Ps5 settings, turn off your internet connection. This is temporary. Reboot and the game will lunch just fine. Then go back to settings and turn on your internet connection.
With mine, I get to the menu and it says multiplayer is installed but Zombies and Campaign isn’t. But it’s not showing if it is installing or not. This is on ps5 btw
So I can play warzone/mw all good but not Cold War and I’m on Xbox one series S and I just got a similar problem where my game starts after 5 second countdown but it won’t play the Cold War

you know what now that i think about it... i did have my call of duty connected via LAN and once i switched it to wifi only and also updated my game and system to the latest update it started working again.
I'm having similar issues except when I get to that same screen, instead of getting that lobby error, my game crashes and gives me a system/app error. Only on the PS5 version though... the PS4 version works like normal... Idk if it's a PlayStation issue or a Cold War issues at this point...
@@robertjackson3498 I totally understand man... I’m feeling the frustration as well. The mentality of having a brand new PS5 system and being forced to play a PS4 game on it feels like a slap in the face. Whoever’s issue it is, they need to fix it soon!

thats what mines used to do.. but ever since the update its works now... what i can recommend is the following in order 1.) factory reset ps5 2.) download the latest update for the system 3.) DOWNLOAD THE PS5 VERSION ONLY 4.) make sure that is the ps5 version only that you are loading up. 5.) wait until all parts of game is finish downloading then hopefully it loads up fine
maybe reset your ps5 and try downloading the game via wifi instead of using lan cable and also make sure your using the ps5 version other then that can't really think if anything else

are you sure its downloaded all the way?? go to where your about yo start the game and press option button and click on where it says something like game content to make sure you have the campaign installed but also make sure ur on the ps5 version
@@robertjackson3498 yeah, it’s fully downloaded and updated, i got the ps5 blueray, i even had to delete it from storage and reinstall and download. Still having the same issue where when i want to install the campaign i get the message “Content not found”
well so far since the recent system patch update it has been working for me now, so all i can say is check for th3 latest update and power ur console completely off and try again

I was able to solve the problem. Apparently there's is an issue with Motorola modems blocking COD. I changed the modem and worked immediately
