Traditionally, the bark,fruits and leaves are used for a drink against stomach ailments, syphilis, ulcers, sores and reumathism. But it is a heavy medicine, and a purgative. It even might induce abortion. So, it is not recommended for pregnant women.

to drink it like that? i think not. But you probably can eat it witrh shea butter though. Like with any herb: check it out by beginning with a very low dose for safety reasons.

The seeds are used to chew upon, at least in Kenya where I saw them at the market. They give a sour taste, like a sour candy.

poisonous? no the fruit is not, but it is hard to eat for humans. Monkeys have better teeth.

@@jeannenoume3915 They grow use, maybe 10 meters radius, so they need 25 meters spacing. But I am not aware of any commercial production. They grow a lot throughout the whole of Africa beneath the Sahara. The fruits are coming from wild trees.
