Love the commentary. Ive been surfing for 30 years and really find myself missing the camaraderie and "cheering on" that was more prominent back when I started. That being said I still carry the torch, even if Im the only one out vocalizing my stoke for others.
Being a surfer for 50 years it’s very refreshing to hear your “positive vibe” perspective. I especially like your “construct” verbiage. With all the current negativity and fear mongering attitudes pervasive in our culture today your positivity is a welcome respite. With positive energy anything and everything is possible!
Truly! It's a horrible wave clogged by stand-ups, old guys on logs and midlengths, and now apparently motorized boards. It's not even JUST a mushy wave... I've surfed many fun mushy waves... this spot is basically a NON-wave. It's an "almost-surf-spot" and any agressive "local" should be punched in the mouth on sight
Sitting underneath the Golden Gate Bridge is basically the highlight of this mush Burger of a wave...... there's no one on this planet that would love more than to say it's a great wave! But unfortunately it's not really a wave when you're out there it's like a washing machine you can't really get into the right spot and even if you can the wave sucks

The changes in the sport and its culture over the years is staggering, but we must accept things as they are, or let resentment destroy our inner peace… Subscribed!
“We build lots of constructs …” and we construct lots of buildings. Big red bridges too. Surfers are (can be) the WORST when it comes to attitude, entitlement, aggression, so it’s refreshing to hear the vibe was palpably aloha on the city by the bay. I actually surfed there the day before my wedding in Belvedere and caught the only chest high wave that rolled through on my 6-0 Vernor Mini Simmons. The surreal and 100% one-of-a-kind setting made it very memorable.
As far as more than one person on a wave its fun when u share the occasional wave in the right situation. Its horrible when someone kooks out and blatantly drops in and its down right dangerous when they have no idea whats going on. Foil boards r extremely dangerous and pointless in a lineup when you could ride open swell anywhere. Especially if u have a boat.

Can I bring my sailboard out there if it’s windy? It’s only 8’ long, and has a 15 foot long mast. Still plenty of room for everyone else, right? And I’m surfing the wave so I should be accepted with brotherly love and keeping it groovy. Party on!
Man. That giant school bus protruding straight out of the surface is (I gotta say) rather intimidating (along with the 9400 others) at this beautiful spot is so mesmerizing

It gives you one tiny taste and lets you down. It’s the nitrous oxide of waves. You know it would be cool is if somebody like Patagonia created an artificial reef to make the wave a bit better! They did this before in Southern California.

Yeah no one likes the guys on SUPs. Spot I go is out of the way but SUPs regularly show up, & always paddle for the best waves of every set, because they can. No matter if you been patiently waiting to be courteous. Half the time they don't even catch the wave but mess it up for anyone else. Super annoying
That thing that you said, that who live there has more priority are things that we invent and i agree. I think we invent that “rules”and we think that they are already rules.
Multiple people on a wave in dangerous people get hurt. If everyone is on Foam the party waves are good! Curious to how far into the bay smaller waves might be rideable? There is a wave the skim board I wanted to see that wave on this day!
Party waves worked better 100 years ago when people weren't typically carving waves to pieces in every direction at a high velocity (including going in the air). I think that's the big factor here.

Yes. The outside break, not shown in this video, absolutely goes off. Starts just outside the bridge, difficult to connect to the inside, but a classic point break left, sometimes to double overhead. This mid-tide Fort Point only showing the inside is, well, not showing the Fort at its best.
This place is a great spectacle but there are to many dudes that might accidentally kill you. Completely out of control and dangerous. Everyone that's learning how to surf z when they finally can actually stand up first thing they do is go surf fort point. Your pretty serious about this dude.

It's hard to imagine a place that's such a novelty mushburger would have people take it so seriously that a hostile vibe would result.
