Let's not forget when China was coming out of their 'dark ages' they tried to follow the US model/way but instead we exploited them and pillaged them along with the rest of the European forces. Then we sorta ask ourselves why don't trust or want to follow our ways.

China isn't unwilling to listen to lectures. The US sells weapons to Taiwan or sanctions Chinese companies leading up to talks as a negotiating chip.
Engaging in dialog is to china arithmatcally equivalent to engaging in military and diplomatic hostility against itself.

Ro has never replied to any of my emails and I'm a constituent in his district. I'm pissed because I've written to him about 10 times and I only receive invites to his town hall meetings. I expected at least a message saying I agree or not. I've also tried asking him questions on X (Twitter). I get that on X he has no way of verifying that I'm his constituent. How ironic the theme of his talk is lack of communication (with China) BTW, I sometimes agree with his policies. Anyway, few constituents engage. As a result of his lack of communication, I despise him and never will vote for him again.

Hearing Ro talk about building up the middle class and holding the business class responsible was a hilarious juxtaposition with the many conversations the besties have had on the all in podcast. The besties, especially Chamath, have tended to resist any notion of the business class or the wealthy being responsible for the hollowing out of our middle class. No one should be surprised when Chamath’s main point in this discussion was that regulations caused the middle class to shrink and push out industry… blame anything and anyone else besides the greed of the business class.

I am firmly a believer in building myself and the people around me up and not waiting for a handout, but the goal shouldn’t be to constantly keep carrot and sticking the public. First off I'll say, yes, I'm 75 and receive over $2200/mo from SS and a small retirement ($180/mo) so maybe more than some but I paid into SS all my life and for 8 yrs after I started receiving SS due to a small business i ran until 2020. I have actually heard of cutting back on SS by means testing. Mr Khanna suggests we dump the cap on paying into SS to make it solvent. I think that's a great idea since most will have someone in their family who will benefit by SS. On top of that let's means test all who would receive SS. If I have an income of $400K I certainly don't need to receive SS yet wouldn't hurt to support it. Maybe we drop the employer side so as not to affect business too much. It's the same reasoning behind tax brackets. With a large salary I would have more disposable income than many, So I'm in a 21%, 28%, 35% tax bracket. What do I care, i have the income to create tax shelters etc. Now if we move to a flat tax and I spend a lot of my disposable income on luxury items, guess what? Now i'm paying some real taxes. I've paid property taxes many more years than I had children in schools and was happy to do it. Now I have grand-kids and great grand-kids enjoying the benefits of my property taxes. Enough said here and i love all of you..,,.bobby.,.,..BTW defense spending/ definitely should have audits and the extra goes to the men and women serving us. C'mon people

Nice discussion! The fact that Ro Khanna says things he knows are going to be unpoplular with the audiance just reinforces my impression of him as an honest politician.

Good guest, the real politician. Speaking soo smoothly for any type of the audience. But heck, the last one got me: "the sense that we have monopoly on the truth we got to have more humillity to be able to have conversations with empathy, not just judgement". Damn, just recall JCal fighting Sacks every time when he's bringing about the Ukraine situation. empathy? humility? no monopoly on the truth? please.

Except for the China part, which was restrained by the anti-Chinese atmosphere, the subsequent calls for political reform were very admirable.

Finally someone who had courage to speak to the record low unemployment levels and what that looks like on the ground. Love the All-In-Guys. I’m a weekly subscriber but they tend to miss the point on this one.
