    I must admit, as the owner of a 2014 Escape Titanium, this is a great step forward for the CRV! The previous ones were so hideous and I didn't even want to consider getting one! It looks great!

    Have you noticed that Honda is very competent in every segment it's involved in, from the Fit to the Odyssey, they're the best of the bunch!

    at first I want a big fan of the rear end but it grew on me as I see them more and more on the road. Now I own one lol

    I thought your wife brought up some good points. The back end is the first thing that I don't like and never have. It is how the tail lights are mounted. I realize this is for safety, but I just don't like the looks of it. On the next redesign, if Honda made the back end look like the 2016 Pilot, I think that would look a lot better.
    The display is the other thing that I don't like. Not having knobs to control the volume and the flip display reminds me of a old Pioneer stereo I had. It just looks old.
    I like the husband/wife or male/female review. You get two different perspectives into one.

    Would I drive one? No. Now as a second vehicle for my wife for example definitely. As always good review Steve.

    2015 Honda CR-V- Does the adaptive cruise control feature work from 0 mph to 120 mph? Any limitations? Does it brake completely automatically and start driving automatically after braking completely? does it have the “Active Cruise Control with Stop&Go function”?

    Steve -- don't forget this edition's CR-V is the 2015 Motor Trend Sport Utility of the Year.

      Right. I can see why. A lot of positive changes for a midcycle refresh.

    For 33k I personally would go with the Forester XT touring. You get a turbocharged engine, HID lights, and a much better AWD system. The only downside would the slight hit in fuel economy.

    This Touring trim along with the refresh transformed this from being a more boring & ugly CUV to a more handsome & elegant one

    I used to hate the back end of the CR-V, but somehow it looks better in the 2015 refresh.

    Honda should do a similar refresh to the Crosstour. This front facia will do wonders to the "kitchen appliance" grille you mentioned way back when. As for more ladies owning CRVs, yeah my wife thinks it's "small and cute", basically the only SUV she'd want, aside from a luxury brand one. I guess she likes the rounded, bulging body with the baby bird-like beak.

    The second generation Honda civic hybrid, or current gen civic hf, rims would look pretty neat on these imo

    Seriously... that new main screen on the dash looks like such an after thought. If anyone but Honda would have made something looking like that the automotive press would have flipped out.

      Different animals in a number of areas; the Hyundai is bigger, heavier, more powerful and thirstier with an available turbo and greater towing. The CR-V is lighter, more fuel efficient and packaged smaller. I like both but assess your needs.

    Thank you sir. How about the 2015 crv vs 2016 cx5 which one do you think is superior?

  • @TheWinLlen
    @TheWinLlen 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    since you have also reviewed the 2015 nissan rouge. between this crv and the rouge which one your prefer and why?

    • @stevehammes
      @stevehammes  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      The CR-V is clearly superior in its drivability and everyday ease of use. I believe the Rogue took a small step backwards after the redesign.

  • @dustinmorris13

    Maybe Honda will eventually give us the real Euro equipped vehicles. The CRV over in Europe has the same info system but has real buttons where we get that awful touchscreen. It also has HID headlamps with LED cornering lamps and rear LED lamps. Power needs to be increased and they need to redo that back end.

    Great review, you make a cute couple. Does this version have rear seat HVAC vents? Living in AZ, making people sit in the 2nd row without dedicated AC vents is a punishable crime. Otherwise, it looks like a solid CUV.

    I agree with your wife in that I don't like the back end. It just doesn't fit quite rite. My wife and I disagree on the looks of most cars. The only exception is the Dodge Challenger. I'm pretty sure she doesn't share with me that she hates the look of my Honda Element. Probably because I haul her stuff around.

    It still isn't attractive, they should do an all new design.

    • @stevehammes
      @stevehammes  9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Really? It's much better looking than the RAV4 and is now on par with Escape IMHO.

    • @DJEddieXZ
      @DJEddieXZ 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      This does not look better than the new Rav 4 Steve, This looks like an evolution of the last model (which looks dopey to me) and very unflattering especially from the rear end, I think they are more focused on selling these things than the design but for most people, it all starts with the design.

    • @stevehammes
      @stevehammes  9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      DJEddieXZ Personally, I can't stand the current RAV-4 design (or nearly any of Toyota's current models, really.)

    Most of the CR-V owners are women, so it's more of a woman's SUV. Men tend to go for larger vehicles with higher HP, torque, and more room.

  • @pinoyproductions206
    @pinoyproductions206 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    I purchased a 2015 ex model and my dissatisfaction😰 is with actual avg mpg and no heated mirrors. I have 800 miles of Eco mode conservative driving and only achieving 22-24 mpg. 😰

    • @cadsux
      @cadsux 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately, most SUVs' combined mpg is at or below the city mpg number, due to weight and lousy aerodynamics. It doesn't matter what class, size or engine. Hills and non-freeway driving will worsen that mpg. Even merging up a freeway onramp. A base CRV weighs as much as some loaded mid-size sedans like the Mazda6. Eco Mode seems to make the engine work harder to get you going, so you might try leaving it in normal mode. I found that the old speed limit of "55 mph" is optimal, and for every 10 mph over that, you lose about 10% mpg.

    • @johnsonl3656
      @johnsonl3656 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I knew an owner of the CR-V. He said that when he bought the car, the mpg was awful. But when it passed few thousand miles, the fuel economy increased significantly. He managed to get 28 mpg combined 50/50 city/highway driving.
      I like this car. It is on top of my shopping list for the next CUV along with the 2016 CX-5. The problem is people who bought these cars usually complain about their low mpgs. Maybe because the engine is small, thus requires it to work harder. I would love to have a v6 option on these CUVs (I hate turbo).

    • @pinoyproductions206
      @pinoyproductions206 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      I just passed 1k miles, and my last 3 trips (full-almost empty tank) avg 22.8mpg. This time I filled up and turned off Eco mode to compare the mpg.

    • @cadsux
      @cadsux 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      As loveyouforver91 indicated, you're car is still in the "breaking-in" period, so hopefully your mpg will improve later. 4 cylinder engines are usually more fuel efficient than 6 cylinder engines. More power and speed usually results in less mpg. The CRV's luxurious cousin, the Acura RDX, has the V6 engine and gets 20/28 mpg versus the CRV's 27/34 mpg. I rarely see luxury cars driven modestly, so imagine how much lower the mpg could be, especially after spending up to 10 grand more!

  • @pinoyproductions206
    @pinoyproductions206 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    What were your test vehicle achieving in mpg? USA Today had lower numbers as well. Check out this video www.usatoday.com/videos/money/cars/2014/11/07/18655111/

    Great review as always. I became concerned with the crv when I came across this video on TH-cam about its awd system. The Ford Kuga is basically the US Ford Escape, what a difference.
