just gotta say to all you devs who get up on stage, bravo! it's not easy, it's actually a skill to do it well, (i work behind the camera) so totally appreciate seeing people who makes games and are not the natural sort of person to do that, get up on stage in front of that many people and be able to conduct yourselves so well! amazing effort.

And one could add that, as a community-based project, community events are actually necessary to "make the game". But I get what you meant - we all want the game sooner rather than later, the devs maybe even more than players actually. These events that bring both together are nice to remember that as well.

If these events prove to be necessary for development and promotion then only time will tell, but they've done these events every year, they advertise events as if theres dozens of ships on screen with smooth framerates, but when new backers jump in they feel duped. I feel like these events are money and effort spent on disapppointing new and old backers alike. I'm speaking as a backer since 2015 who have got 4 other friends to play, and we all feel duped.

And I fully admit i'd rather have more details on technicalities, why things are longer, more difficult, and how they progress, than too much celebration of future tech when actual tech feel unstable. Explaining why this unstability is "normal" in their process and what they do to tackle it is not central enough in their communication. So I'd say I stand in between. I'm glad they do these sort of events, but I'd like it to cater more to player's issues and doubts, then to only bet on hype. Been there sine 2012, still hoping for the best, and really hoping server meshing will help bring the stability we badly need - among other optimization. If it works out, these will only have been the darkest times of the storm, before finally having some clear skies - I hope you and your friends will get to enjoy it in the end !
Wife and I had a lot of fun at our first CitCon. We got to meet a lot of awesome people in the community. Good job and great work CIG and citizens at the conference. One of the best and most organized gaming conferences I've been to.
I remember how Star Trek fans started having conventions back in the day. I really think Chris Roberts has tapped into the void where we sci-fi fans have been desperately waiting for a game to fulfill the needs of the science fiction community.
I can't be the only one constantly scanning the video to try and find myself there, right? Cause I finally did! It was a pleasure being there and I can't wait to try and come back again.
Citcon was an absolute blast, and those engine tests literally shook you to your core and was amazing to see in person. Thank you both CIG and Mangostone for an amazing experience seeing one of my favourite ships come to life.
it was an awesome trip visiting the UK for CitizenCon, and the event itself was amazing. i also liked the bar citizen events, amazing how many people we actually ended up being.. I could definitely see myself showing up for the next one.
This didn’t top last year. Last year you told us what we were getting over the next 12 months and even if you didn’t make it in everything that was exciting. This year you told us Squadron is two years out for the 8th time. Woo…

Couldn't make it so watched it at home me and my mate and a big TV and big PMC studio monitors and a barrel of Stella. Perfect. One bit of constructive criticism, the audience was not Mic'd up properly, during the presentations we couldnt hear the whoops and cheers (on Twitch anyway) this made the audience sound really quiet/unimpressed when this video shows it was not quiet at all and everyone was cheering and impressed. Have a word with the sound guys and work on that for the next one!! I'll make the next UK one no matter what :D

What do I think about the most important announcement for Star Citizen 1.0? - you cheaped out on us, but you couldn't do it during the CitizenCon announcement, you had to do it in the comments section of Spectrum. A game of ships and exploration with no NPC crew is not what was always discussed by anyone, let alone Chris.
No one expected NPC crew, they always talked about ai blades. NPC crew doesn't even make sense in a MMO, if you want a single player Star Citizen, then go play X4.

What I thought of the presentation on the second day, everything was fine, except for the construction of ships, it will remove the symbolism that a Ferrari causes in real life, apart from the implications in relation to various things, like: - why should a manufacturer like aegis have to spend millions on its own shipyards to build an idris, if i can do it at my base and 5x better. - what's the manufacturer going to live on if the home-built ships are built from various npcs or guilds at random? - where is the lore of these ships, why was the cutlass red being sold in a store at the time that 36 of them were used for a large scale rescue if everyone can make it at home. - and if the 600i made in the backyard was made with second-rate materials, and the ship disintegrated on take-off, what about the morale of the origin? If the ship has their logo on it and it's a 600i model, that's exactly why ferrari doesn't allow you to tamper with their cars - it ends up more cartoonish than NMS, because they build vehicles and ships there, but they're bluprint's own, not just any ships you see flying around in the sky.
I learned my hard earned money, given to CIG for the development of their UNSHIPPED product was used to build a full size model of a Mk2 Hornet... and not towards finishing the game. My wallet is now CLOSED to you CIG. Enjoy your model.
So um, Citizencon is a thank you to the backers from CIG. It is also a big piece of promotional material. They have to promote the product because you playing it alone in your basement doesn't sell anything beyond your personal spare budget. Your hard earned money spent was a choice you made, and it's also just a tiny drop in the bucket. Do you enjoy playing Star Citizen, or not?
I was sitting in row 4 for most of this, and watching it all again almost made me emotional. The show was great, but meeting in real life the people I have known for years as voices and nicknames only, was better.
I hope you will keep your promises. It would be a bummer if you end up like CDPR, building up only Hype, and then delivered nothing of what was expected (they still pretend they did a good job, even after all those years of failure, with an audience that is nothing but fools). Star Citizen is truly the game I see that will change the video game industry, if you guys manage to deliver your promises. We will be patient and we will remember.

Not a good look to give us the only ISC before it's just commercials for ships during IAE to be Citizencon again. Should have dived into some info that just wasn't addressed at all during the show...like what Nyx even is, why no planets were shown, or why nothing about it has been expounded upon now that we've had Pyro in testing for months. We need a clear next goal, not 1.0 where it could be 1 year or 5 from now...what is NEXT. Pyro was NEXT for 4 years, and we need something else to look forward to now that Pyro is in the game and it's...well...a handful of new building assets scattered around some planets and some copypasta space station, including the only LZ. Would really like to see an ISC soon on planettech Genesis and what we can expect with Nyx...is it in this new framework? Or are we having to wait till Castra to get anything from this but hopefully weather? Is ArcCorp getting redone or are we just getting some interiors?
You know, I think another source of revenue for you guys could be star citizen, cinematic universe you could make movies or a TV show about squadron 42 and I guarantee there would be millions of people that would watch it because the demo of squadron 42 was that amazing
I agree, CITCON was exactly as we'd hoped it would be... making a comeback. ISC, however is a separate weekly event. Please don't just make it a 6 month long recap of CITCON. Let's go beyond and show new content.
I wouldn’t mind them going a little more in depth on things. What else new can they show? They gave us a roadmap for essentially the next 5 years. New stuff would just be more feature creep

What I learned is that the attachment of the weapons on the hornet are WAY too flimsy to really support them during combat
The terminals at the convention center worked better than the ones in-game.
Same for the elevators.
They were running on a really time-tested game engine.

NPC Crew is still a thing. Just after 1.0 Release. With 1.0 we will have AI Blades to automate some Functions. That's what they sayd.
