Towing an Abandoned Mazda RX-8, With a Missing Wheel!

- Hey guys!
In this video we’re doing a private property tow, on an abandoned Mazda RX-8. The car had been sitting longer than the property owners allowed them to have the car there, and with a missing wheel it was not only an eye sore, but a safety concern a well.
The car was lowered, making the clearances even worse along with the missing wheel.

Enjoyed the different camera angle showing the "walking" of the truck.
I’m glad you enjoyed it. I was hoping it would come out decent.
I hope the young men watch and learn from you. You are a excellent instructor.
I appreciate that!
You treated that car very well, especially considering that the owner doesn't seem to care much about it.
Nice one Dustin. Good job!! In my State of Victoria, Australia, we have to try and locate the owner and then give them a certain amount of time to collect the vehicle. If the owner can't be located we have to wait a specified time until we can salvage the vehicle then try to get rid of it.
We do the same thing here. We have to send out multiple certified letters to the registered owner. If it doesn’t get picked up in 45 days, then we can get the title, and auction it off.
Professor Dustin, anothe very cool lesson.
And i could tell that after market tire must be afacing tire because it looks like thread on out side and a slick on the inside, LOL.
It definitely had some camber lol
A good work from you 👍👍👍
Thank you!
Good Morning Dustin great job today Towing that Mazda today 😁👍🇺🇲
Good morning!!
@@Towtruck_Dustin Good Morning
Another awesome video Dustin! Job well done. Just a personal preference of mine, especially during the day I love when you upload at 60 FPS but either way I’m always watching all your videos and I learned a lot from you! Thanks so much and keep up the great work my friend!
Unfortunately GoPros don’t do well filming at high frame rates, for long periods of time. Otherwise they overheat after a few minutes of filming.
@@Towtruck_Dustin yeah my GoPro hero 8 black doesn’t like that too especially if I’m out in the sun so totally understand bro!
The rx7 was one of my favorite cars from hot wheels
I love your vids!
Thank you!
Great job brother!
I appreciate it!
@@Towtruck_Dustin 🤜🤛
Great work.
Thanks!
Very nice job
Thank you!
I like that New Yorker that New Yorker is actually nice tuna boat car
Awesome job. It looked like that car had been somewhat abused.😊
Thank you!
Lol amazing job lmao he can't even tow right there tow hook right in front of the car
I’m going to take a wild guess and say you’ve never worked in the towing and recovery industry, and definitely didn’t watch the video.
I explained multiple reasons why I didn’t load it from the front, or use the screw in hook.
I wonder if it's been used in street racing?
The bad thing about that type of car was the Rotty engine
You can manually close the sunroof.. all sunroofs are like that, so you can close them in emergencies
Yeah, but it’s in a private property tow, you’re not supposed to do anything inside of the vehicle. Notice how I never physically checked to see if it was in neutral or release the parking brake?
Nice trick to prevent the exhaust from scraping! I think im gonna steal that! Doesnt walking bend the frame and the hydraulic cylinders of the bed or can you do it because your truck is so light?
As far as the frame goes, it’s really no different than towing it from the rear with frame forks, and I’m sure there’s a little bit of stress on the cylinders, but probably no more than doing anything else. The rear end of the truck, is the light end.
@@Towtruck_Dustin here nobody lifts a vehicle on the frame unless its already a total anyway
Pick that grey Camaro up for me and bring it to me 🤣🤣🤣
😂😂😂
WOW!!!😮That was awesome!!! 👍 I thought for sure you were going to need help! Nope, proven me wrong😂👍you are Badass All by yourself! 👍❤️ stay safe out there. God bless 🙏
Thank You!
I prefer to work alone. No one to get in my way, and I can do things how I want. Things go a lot smoother that way.
@@Towtruck_Dustin Absolutely! I agree 💯👍🏼 and this way no one gets hurt!😉 💪👊🤜🤛🤕🤭😂 Stay awesome 👍🏼😎
Is very nice job
Thank You!
Looks like the white truck with the utility trailer was keeping an eye on you while you were loading the RX8.
Does walking the truck not put a lot of stress on the cylinders long term wise?
No more than doing anything else. Most of the load would be on the ground at that point. With the bed being down and the rear end of the truck being the light end.
I like this channel because it reminds me Texas has normal people. Keeps me centered, despite wicked "news media" and "Texas politicians".
That's the way to do it. It looks as if the right rear axle and hub are also separated anyway
Doing a great job really like your videos here in tenn .do you ever drive the big tow trucks
I don’t have my CDL. I go help on the heavy duty accidents when I can, but I don’t run the heavy duty trucks.
Probably left it there from to many problems🤔
Dustin next you get a call for a car like when go to tow it use the wheel lift and some chains and use the wheel lift to haul it away
That’s terrible on the bed locks. You’re never supposed to wheel lift anything without the bed loaded.
I believe NRC is the only bed you can wheel lift unloaded.
@@Towtruck_Dustin what you do is slide the wheel lift under then strap it down with chains to the wheel lift . It's just like using a sling .
I don’t think you’re understanding what I’m saying.
Putting something on the wheel lift, without a load on the bed, is bad on the bed locks.
The only bed you can do that with, is an NRC.
it wasn't to bad..
Yeah definitely not fun lifting up a wheel and all the hub assembly of a Chevy 3500 that hit a barrier at 2am. Good thing I had a buddy with me that night..
I had a similar accident last year. It was a 35” tire with a huge American Force Wheel, with the hub, and brake assembly still bolted on. Wished I’d have had my Channel back then. Would have made a good video.
@@Towtruck_Dustin Oh dang I could imagine that was a tough one to lift up there. Yeah that would of been good content indeed!
I know I can look back at a rollover but do y’all use little jays or big jays to roll a car?
It really depends on the situation.
I have a 5/16 chain with gran hooks on both ends, and I generally go around the control arms and dog the chain off to itself. Then I have a pear link with grab hooks that I put in the middle to hook the winch to, which lets me adjust the length of each leg to get the angles right
Dose your company cover up windows to keep the rain out or leave it as it is
You have to, by law.
I'm actually surprised that you don't leave the bed at a slight angle until you have at least one rear strap on it, just to keep it from accidentally rolling forward when the bed is flat.
On this truck, the bags air down pretty low, so it stays at an angle. If I leave the bed up slightly it sits super high and is uncomfortable to work around.
That is true Dustin and I would do the same thing
Dustin why didn't you put under the area the wheel dolley it probably would helped big time
Not quite sure I understand what you’re asking
My dad also does recovery and he Owns his business and we have the same truck but white and red lettering and I can run one without even having to be talked through it I know how to use a snatch block and flip and load and shake it off
That’s awesome man. Sounds like you’re gunna be a great operator.
@@Towtruck_Dustin thank you I love your videos and you inspire me and teach me things that I diddnt already know
I have never seen anyone walking the bed before you. Genius move. I presume you have spring suspension and you couldn't do this with air ride suspension?
No his rear end has air ride as you notice when he comes up to accidents he’s dropping the airbags and putting his idle up so the winch and the bed run a little bit faster
No, this truck has air.
Cool deal. I drove trucks 42 years before retiring. I drove vans, reefers, flats and heavy haul. My first job was a tow truck back in 1977. A lot has changed since then. We didn't have air ride or tilt beds back then. I now watch several tow channels and you are my favorite tilt bed driver. I would recommend your channel to anyone wanting to learn the right way of operating a tilt bed tow truck. Your ability and attitude I believe are top notch. Never stop learning! Larry
Thank you! Glad you’re enjoying the videos!
Did you ever find out ho own truck with missing tire?
Yes. They picked it up the same day.
Why didn’t u load the car from the rear
Because the sunroof was back, and would have caught wind going down the highway. Likely ripping it off.
Why was it covered up
Likely to keep the elements out if they can’t roll the windows up.
🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Honestly I figured you'd fix it and drive it up on the 🛌 bed.😂
I mean, I did the best with what I had lol
Was that car kinda pretty?
It wasn’t too bad
If it's abandoned then just drag the thing on the bed😂😂 You don't have to worry about scratching the exhaust or anything😂
Can tell you’re not an operator.
You’re liable for any and all damages you cause while loading it. Just because someone left it there, doesn’t mean they’re never coming back for it.
just buff it out
Have you ever and upset car owner show up on this type of tow.
On several occasions. Kinda comes with the territory
The owner left it that way so whatever happens happens so just be it
Wrong. Any damage I cause, I’m liable for. That’s why I take a bunch of pictures and take care not to damage anything.
@@Towtruck_Dustin I also want you to know u love your videos you inspire
And teach me thing that I diddnt know already and I’m sure if we met in real life your a great guy
That’s awesome. I’m glad my videos have helped you!
Can I have that car I am 14 lol
I was hoping he would leave it in impound so I could have it lol
No just bring it to my house lol
😂😂
And can u tow it to my house lol
Can we talk
