Fair point, but dual enrollment trumps all. Depending on your school maybe it is different, but mine offered it and its free of cost. If all goes well, I'm looking at getting all As without breaking a sweat, versus originally having a ~3.0gpa overall from the last few years destroying myself over the few APs I took. AP workload is unreasonably harder than the OG class itself, last one semester instead of one year, and are generally regarded the same by colleges.
Couple of people have mentioned it but yeah, don’t do AP classes, take dual enrollment classes if you can. It’s free, it’s a typical class structure with typical testing, and gives you 3 credits per each class you pass. Also counts for high school transcript.
No, if your school offers dual enrollment community college courses, you should take those over AP, since AP doesn’t always cover your undergraduate classes
To be competitive for T-20 universities, you’d ideally aim to take 10 AP classes. Each AP class costs $100 to enroll, so that's $1,000 upfront. Then, you have to pay for the AP exams, which are $105 each, plus a registration fee that brings the total to $120 per exam. For 10 exams, that’s $1,200, bringing your total to $2,200 so far. But it doesn’t stop there-you also need test prep to do well on these exams. Let’s estimate $500 of test prep per course, which adds $5,000. Now you’re at $7,200. Next, you need to prepare for the SAT. SAT prep costs a minimum of $500, plus $100 to register for the test. That’s another $600, bringing your total to $7,800. Once you’ve taken your tests, you need to send these scores to colleges, which costs $15 per AP score and SAT score. Sending scores for 10 APs and the SAT adds $165, making it $7,965. Beyond testing, you need extracurriculars (ECs) to boost your resume, which often include activities like internships, shadowing, retaking exams to improve scores, and test prep for any retakes. You’ll also need essay coaches to polish your applications. Let’s conservatively estimate $5,000 for all of this, taking your total to $12,965. And all this? Just to apply to schools with a 3% acceptance rate, many of which prioritize their rankings over the human cost of their application process. This is how the system looks from the perspective of students: a series of overwhelming expenses and hoops to jump through.
$500 per test prep course? $5,000 for retaking exams and free/paid internships? Essay coaches should not be that much. Don't just apply to 3% acceptance rate schools, they don't have much to offer, and you can apply more than once in your lifetime. This is quite exaggerated and misleading.

As someone who benefited greatly from the college board exams (got more than a semester’s worth of credits) I can confirm that no one likes the college board
Last week I had to submit test scores… it cost $14 per school. Yes it can cost companies money to digitally send things through email, but no way it costs more than a few cents maybe a dollar.
I tutor for the SAT all the time, and I recently had a student actually get in a car accident about two weeks before the test. She was having constant migraines. She obviously didn't take it, she was in no condition to do so right then. You can sure bet CollegeBoard didn't give two cents. It gets really old.

What about the misconception students have that the AP exams help them get college credits but many colleges don’t accept the scores for class credits or even if they do they give unit credits which don’t count towards your major requirements.
The new digital SAT is the worst test I have ever taken. I always knew the SAT was bs for truly only testing students test-taking skills, but now it's not even standardized anymore. Might as well change the name too. Never take the SAT, either take the ACT or just boycott the whole big test scam all together.

The College Board app on school laptops was how students were bypassing the filtering on school wifi to access adult content at the middle school where I worked several years ago. Despite this, it took a month to convince the school board to approve restricting the app to only AP students.
I actually hate the security for the exams. I accidentally opened the plastic wrapping on one of the packets but not fully. After my break, they called me through the loud speaker and started grilling me to death and they had to call a HIGH RANK from my schools county or college board (idrk who but I just know it was somebody higher than the principal and administrators) and I had to wait for 20 minutes till they realized they were stupid and they decided to let me go before grilling me for 6 MINUTES about why I shouldn’t make a mistake like that ever again. @@gertrude1585 omg yes it's annoying for everyone adhd or not. In my exam there was this guy that left for about 30 mins and the proctor talked to him at the door, didn't let him in, but then let him in a lil bit later??? I couldn't hear the conversation they had. He then preceded to make noise with candy wrappers bc the proctor thought it be a amazing idea to let everyone get candy at any point in the test.
Mechanical keyboards and bringing a mouse with a laptop should be banned. Bc the trackpads are relatively pretty quiet but when 20+ people have a mouse going click click click click loudly, and they have a perfectly good trackpad to use makes me go insane. Like its one thing if its a computer lab but we all had to bring laptops.
@ idk what he did to the trackpad but he used it a few time and it was even worse XD
In December 2023, some guy decided that my SAT test date was a perfect time to mow their lawn.
As a student who never took a AP class I see this as an absolute nightmare because it does prepare you for college somewhat with all the essays.

As someone who benefited greatly from the college board exams (got more than a semester’s worth of credits) I can confirm that no one likes the college board
december sat was ok until the last 4 questions on math module 2....

I actually love your channel man pls don’t stop making content
thank you bro, means the world
Last week I had to submit test scores… it cost $14 per school. Yes it can cost companies money to digitally send things through email, but no way it costs more than a few cents maybe a dollar.
i would say it costs like a hundredth. of apenny per
0:15 The 787 is the Dreamliner, not the 74
I know lol
Damn, the algorithm found me a gem
Not to mention it’s a monopoly by definition
I tutor for the SAT all the time, and I recently had a student actually get in a car accident about two weeks before the test. She was having constant migraines. She obviously didn't take it, she was in no condition to do so right then. You can sure bet CollegeBoard didn't give two cents. It gets really old.
"Adversity index" sounds so dystopian
Our school pays for our SATs and AP exams thank the lord 😭🙏
The way this year itself collegeboard has gotten $600 from my parents.. diabolical asl 😭
2:55 I thought this was going to be a sponsorship thing
this is one of the few examples of a modern monopoly. also, why are tests going digital yet still retain the same price? something to also consider.
The fact that you have to pay to send the tests that the colleges require you to take to even apply is insane
I’m in middle school and there used to be a glitch where you could get anything unblocked through college board
december sat was .....good but the second module was....TRICKY BUT DOABLE.
You know what you can do with 1.1B dollar… Pay college tuition.
im taking my first ap exam in may. i applied for my accommodation and got accepted, but the acceptance that came in the mail said "emily" instead of "emery". me and my mom double checked all my forms for the application and i spelt it right, but everything that was mailed to us wasn't 😭. we had to contact them to make sure i had my accommodation for PSAT. i also know people with far more learning difficulties than me who got rejected for their accommodations
Wait until you hear about this thing called insurance
They charge more for international students even though it is cheaper to proctor in foreign countries..
my friend is a collegeboard glazer but that’s bc he got a 1600 & 12 5s 😭

Tf??? What typa friend u have??

@@dollguts9801 i swear he’s not real, bro literally refused to take the ap spanish 5 test bc “he wasn’t 100% sure he would get a 5” 💀
The crazy thing is that they're not not done. This year they chsnged the AP exam fees from 100 to 104 dollars
2:14 literally me with the ACTs last week (wish I was joking)
not to mention they genuinely make you PAY 15$ PER COLLEGE to apply for FINANCIAL AID w the css profile
In all fairness, AP exams save you thousands of dollars (each) that you’d otherwise have to spend for a university course
Assuming you pass, and that your college will accept your scores.
@@deadalkabob It’s a lot easier to pass an AP exam than a college course. And very few schools don’t accept any scores.
3:15 The privacy policy allows them to track mouse movements
Just was accepted to go to USNA next year, the process is so much more involved, but so much better for that reason
Congratulations! My father was a West Point man, but his best friend got to go to Annapolis. Take care out there
What about the misconception students have that the AP exams help them get college credits but many colleges don’t accept the scores for class credits or even if they do they give unit credits which don’t count towards your major requirements.
aamc: "ok, now ready to do it all again in 4 years?"
I was wondering why tf they asked for all that personal information when my teacher made me sign up 😭
me too tbh
Can you also make a video on the IB program, because its more intense than AP because of the EE, CAS, TOK, and IAs
that CEO better chill
I've given them thousands of dollars just to not pass 4 ap exams and several SAT attempts that weren't enough for a scholarship
The new digital SAT is the worst test I have ever taken. I always knew the SAT was bs for truly only testing students test-taking skills, but now it's not even standardized anymore. Might as well change the name too. Never take the SAT, either take the ACT or just boycott the whole big test scam all together.
I managed to get into one of the best engineering schools in the country without needing to take any SATs. Solely because my extra-curricular was outstanding
I did the opposite.
“747 Dreamliners” is crazy bro
I’m not sure even in high school and this was a good watch
I love college board because if we go on it on our school chromebooks we are able to go through the support menu until we can manage to get to google where we can play games that aren’t blocked 😂
They denied my accommodations for time ( i have asd and dysgraphia) abd i was only told half way through their exam
How did you not know if it was grant or not before the test?
@ A teacher told me half through the exam. College board didn't tell me till two weeks after. Continuing their decades long streak of being assholes to people with disabilities ig
Bro, this channel is criminally underrated
I'm an international student, but I still love your videos! I actually gave the December SAT the dat before. It wasn't that bad. English M-2 was maybe a bit tricky. All in all, it was much easier than the October SAT at least.
I hate college board
i just took the dec sat it was horrible and the thing with the sat where i live is that it is REALLY expensive, like a months worth of salary, not only do i live in a third world country which more than DOUBLES the price due to international fees
Before the SAT, ever college had their own emission exam. I'm not sure that was better than our status quo.
CollegeBoard was me and the boys' biggest opp back in High School. Went through 5 AP Classes: AP World History Modern, APUSH (Hell on Earth), AP Spanish Language (Pretty easy if you already speak Spanish or have a grasp of it), AP US Government, and AP Psychology.
I only passed 3 of those 5 tests but passed all the classes grade wise. APUSH and AP World were the ones I failed (got a 2 on both)
Ill never forget having CSP, Lang, and both Physics C on the same day. I didnt even have time to eat lunch and i had to stay after school, waiting another hour on the steps for my mom to pick me up
wowie so my school effectively forced me to give out more of my personal info by making an account for this thing and now i too have people messaging me through my phone number about college stuff yippeeeee i’m so happy about that
3:20 Ok, that’s just straight up power abuse and creepy/disturbing!!! 😤😤😤
In my AP classes in high school everyone had an extremely deep hatred for CollegeBoard to the point where my senior year AP English teacher let us do an extra credit writing assignment just ranting about everything we hate about CollegeBoard
December SAT taker, it's been a week and I'm still contemplating why it didn't feel really hard; studying for this stupid test made my trust issues go up by like 30x
I wrote a whole ass essay about collegeboard's questionable fiscal practices last year in an AP class using their tax returns as my main source lmao
I actually had no idea College Board was a non-profit until you called it one
the fact we need 'another luigi' over this situation shows how much this shit is CHOPPED.
As a international student, we have to prove that we are broke by sending 16$ per school lol.
I think the CEO David Coleman… he needs a little “visit” from Luigi
This entire video should get you into college. Purely by writing alone you made a beautiful video. Continue pursuing your passion and desire rather than what these big pocketed companies want from you.
The saddest part of all of this is that you’re gonna spend those big bucks to get into an Ivy and then come out working at Mc Donald’s.
I thought this was Storytime with Jeff for a moment. Close enough, you're cool too.
can’t relate I got fee waivers for everything 😃
Pretty much everyone I know got them too (free sat score send, free sat tests, free AP exams) because low income.
So CB has been pretty good to me (besides their website throwing me into an infinite loop trying to get to a page)
they lost my audio file last year for AP Spanish and had to retake it ☠️ they wanted to refuse but my AP Coordinator spent 8hours arguing with them
When i was in high school they gave us free waivers for the SAT for poor students
I'm glad I got an engineering apprenticeship in high school instead of dealing with college board
Bro, I actually took the December SAT and got a 1450 , dunno if its good enough tho im not from America
He’s so real for this one
for the december sat module 1 of reading and math was easy, but module 2 for both sections was harder, esp reading for me but thats cuz i suck at reading
Old Chinese school exams were easier than the modern college hustle.
The average family is so broke that my district pays for the SAT and ap exams. Cannot imagine taking 5-8 AP courses if my mom had to pay for them 😭
the only good thing that came out of college board was that you could abuse the sign in page to get past the chromebook restrictions
The similarities between this video and Story time with Jeff’s video on College board are crazy.
I took SAT 2 days ago and it cost 109$ in Ukraine, and for some reason I couldn't even use a mechanical pencil. CollegeBoard thinks I would kill someone with it during the exam.
We can’t use mechanical pencils here, either. Only No. 2 or a blue/black ink pen.
I quickly found that any brand other than Dixon Ticonderoga would disappoint me lol
Lmao, we took the PSAT earlier this year and when we were filling out the email for the results to be sent to, the teachers monitoring the exam told us only to put our actual email if we’re ok getting spammed 😂
I love getting my SAT fee waiver denied despite qualifying
Took 2 SATs and will finish high school having taken 12 AP tests. I am nothing more than their dog.
