After a long Transalp weekend in the mud I can finally watch your latest episode, Del. Great Monday night show. Very enjoyable to see an expert craftsman do his work, there's always something to be learned. The Gixxer will run perfectly after all your service jobs. Have a great season, Günter/Nürnberg
Any reason for going with a disposable paper filter compared to washable one. With the scrambler you went the opposite way and its what you have done with all your other bikes.
Yes indeed mate, I love a washable filter, and always buy one for my bikes, but this OEM style filter came included in the 'service kit' and it saved me a lot of money for now... on the next service, I will replace it with a washable one, but on a budget for now and just needed it clean!
Good advice on cleaning out the spark plug holes. When I changed my Fazers, there was big bits of stones and everything down there. Can’t bare to think in the damage that would have caused!
Another great maintenance video Del and perfectly captured by Penny. I don't know why but I still think of fuel injection on a bike as something new. It was really scary when it was new but it sure has made life easier once I learned not to fear it. 😁 Many thanks to you both. Peace and good health friends.❤👍👍
Sure thing Rick, it will always be a new fangled invention to us old blokes, but when you realise it was on bikes in the 1970's, it's not actually that new lol ... but it is a darn sight easier to maintain than faffing about with carbs! Have a great weekend there buddy, ride safe, D&Px
Owning a suzuki bandit the plugs can be a faff sometimes to get out of the spark plug well when loosened, i use a flexible magnet pen to remove them, so easy 👍 keep up the good work love your videos
Nice video Del & Penny. Another few service jobs out of the way, jobs well done mate and it will out others out as well. Penny and you have a relaxing weekend and hope your weather is getting better. Over this side of the pond winter is coming, it's starting to get wet and cold. Take care, Cheers
Thanks mate👍, glad you enjoyed it, and yes, slowly, very slowly, we're starting to see some warmer weather, but still pretty wet.. im sure it's not cold there by our standards, lol. sometimes here is think we have two seasons here, June, and Winter ..!! Have a great Sunday mate, and take care. D&Pxx
Hi guys, that clip that you undid on the fuel tank looks the same as the one on the oil return line on the Softail when you do a ' purge oil change--- that incidentally was a great tip on the Softail series videos you did, getting 28 oz of residual oil out. Have a great weekend, & hi to. Lady Penelope, x👍👍👍
A great start on a Saturday morning to watch another of your videos del, and looking forward to your next one as you are going to use the vacuum bleeder, I purchased one myself a few weeks ago but have not used it yet so very interested in your next video. Hope yourself and Penny have a great weekend, all the best Don.
Hi Don, Thank you for your kind words mate.. Glad you enjoyed the video.. and check out the brake bleeder video next up on Tuesday, it's so easy to use you'll find it a breeze !

Del, I am just recently starting to do my own servicing, thanks to you. I know your a man of few words, but adding a few more here and there, explaining some of your actions and eg. some advice on the best type of spark plugs would be good! Thanks again.
Thank you for your kind words, in our earlier videos we covered most jobs in explanatory detail, Check out the play lists for any specific tasks, and always feel free to ask individual things if you're not sure, ill always try to help. !
HI penny and Del - nice video. Simple skills done just right - and thanks for sharing. Take care, be well and ride safe! We are having a brief spate of good weather here in Ottawa, so the bikes and the old car have come out!
That's great news, it's been a long winter so good to hear you can get out and enjoy the sunshine! Wish it was the same here, very rainy and chilly, but we're promised from sunshine next week! Have fun and thank you for all your kind words of support, we truly appreciate it! D&Px
funny story... Tilly bike - aka Bike #2 - I did similar service on her, not long after I bought her. Air filter had date installed written on it in nail polish... remembering I bought her in December 2021.... date on air filter was may 2001. Not changed in 20 years. I kid you not!!! So. Always well worth it to do a service on a new, to you, bike! Learnt that from you.
Blimey, that's a long time, I've seen a few 10yr old ones, but never 20! And it's a great bear out of what I've always said, roll through any new bike to you if you can't otherwise prove it's been serviced! Hope your plans are going well!

Morning mate, Is there a water shield above the air intake/inlet funnel? I know how rain runs down the tank and onto the groin area. The most funnest part of any dry clothing ride!!!!! It’d have to be the same for that intake??
It is possible but unlikely if you're careful. The golden rule I work to is don't force it, they should screw down easily. If it feels a bit tight at the start, unscrew and start again. You should be able to spin the plug down, until it bottoms out, with 2 fingers on the extension bar only, introducing the torque or socket wrench to nip the plug up at the final stage. I hope this helps you 👍
Everything that Michael said, plus it helps to use a proper plug socket with the rubber insert that grips the plug safely so you can lower it carefully, taking care not to bump the electrode and risk closing the gap up, then you can orientate the plug perfectly over the hole and like Michael said, spin it down with your fingers on the extension bar!
@@Moonfleet41 thanks Del, I forgot to mention that bit, I always put a light smear of copper slip on the plug thread too, probably unnecessary though. I apologize if I trod on your toes by responding to the question without thinking?
@@wobblysauce thanks, I will check that out, I haven't bought plugs for many years as I'm using up bulk stock I bought years ago from a dealer closing down for a silly price 👍

Hi Del That is some Bike!! Had a 82 GS 1100 that I wish I never let go ]: what is the Identification of these NGK plugs? Ride No faster than your angels can fly!
They're fuel injection, but balancing the throttle bodies is a service task and can be done, by the look of those plugs mine are well within tolerance.
Hmm, yon plugs suggest the poor beast's been nursed into a state of torpid acceptance, & needs a good wholesome gargle with injectorater-squirty-thing cleaner & some exercise.
