Hey, thanks for your review on our device. We're sorry you weren't pleased with the results. We went through ALOT of testing and disabling the 0-cylinder mode at 0% throttle input had some negative driving results we weren't happy with. Disabling that 0-cylinder mode removes the vehicles built in engine braking and caused a massive dropped in fuel economy (2-3mpg) so we opted to leave the 0-cylinder on decel active. After feedback from some users, such as yourself, we are working on implementing the ability to choose whether you keep 0-cylinder or not. We'll be sure to keep our social media channels updated on that progress.
Boy, I'm I glad I saw your video before ordering it. Thank God my direct deposit from my military pension was delayed or else I would have ordered it for my 22.5 ZR 6.2L Silverado. I'll just wait like you until they make the change in the software. My friend has a 6.6L gasser and I think he doesn't have the DFM or autostop on his truck, maybe I'm wrong but I think I read somewhere the 6.6L doesn't have DFM/Autostop.
I just notice they added a few more lines to the disclaimer: NOTE: Some vehicles may still engage 0-cylinder mode while coasting with this product installed. During extensive testing, it was found that completely disabling this function led to undesirable driving conditions and safety concerns. Disabling 0-cylinder mode while coasting resulted in a notable decrease in fuel efficiency, with a loss of 2-3 MPG, as the engine continues to fuel and fire the injectors even during coasting. This fueling also creates an unsettling sensation during deceleration, as it feels like the vehicle is still accelerating slightly, despite 0% throttle input. This requires harder braking, especially in scenarios like towing or descending a long grade, leading to undesirable driving conditions.
My other vehicle is a 2017 AMG E43 4matic, and the response on the foot feed is immediate and fun. I just bought a 2023 Silverado RST and I noticed that when going around a corner and slightly decelerating and then pushing the foot feed down again it acted like I was still an a higher gear. It seemed like it would hesitate and then catch up. It was a little rough until I increased the pressure on the foot feed. I believe it had dropped to the four cylinder mode and was hurrying to change to 8 cylinders. I have a Range module ordered and I hope this will correct that, so it’s in 8 cylinder mode constantly. We’ll see!
Just installed this on my 2021 Yukon 5.3 today. I'm pleased with it. I guess with aftermarket exhaust you're going to hear the nuance of the engine note more than the stock exhaust. But I guess if you really want to lost AFM/DFM for good...get the mechanical delete kit, swap cams, swap lifters, block the oil passages....
Correct me if I'm wrong but as I understand it cylinder deactivation doesn't occur during 0% coasting. The ECU just cut the fuel (and maybe some more stuff) but it doesn't use the lifters so the RA007 will still work for those who are afraid of stuck lifters right?
when I removed it to send back I left the fender liner on but removed it for the video for easier filming :) it's a very good install maybe the updated versions in the works will work
Just ordered this for a ‘22 Escalade. Wish I would have seen this video first…trying to cancel order before it ships. Thank you for saving me time and headache. Anyone try the BOOST ODB module that claims to do the same?
I think it is only a problem when you pair it with an aggressive exhaust system. Meaning you can't hear it with the stock system when 0 cylinder is activated.
they commented on this video about working on a 0% throttle input option to eliminate this from happening altogether so once they do that I will be reordering and hopefully living in bliss like yourself lol
2021 yukon denali... I've been waiting for this device for a year plus as well. It's tedious going into L9 and killing the stolp start every time you drive but really ot takes 5 seconds and will continue to do so if this does not work
So I own a 22 Silverado 1500 zr2 6.2l and have the same product . I was told by range that the DFM does NOT kick in when zero percent throttle input situations....coasting...braking..etc. BUT rather it just shut the engine off completely! No fuel input, no extra oil pumping to the head...just shuts the engine down completely. Its not damaging ,but at the same time if you have an exhaust....you can hear the silence. I agree its's kind of annoying , but better than the 72 different DFM configurations....
yeah the DFM is a problem lol they replied here saying they are doing a 0% throttle to stop all of this as an option so I'll be waiting for that and reordering :) I know Range makes some amazing products and will figure this out it just wasn't the solution for me at the moment so I just keep doing the L9 thing to avoid ever having DFM on until there's a solution
@@HonestlyOCD yeah I asked about it and they said once they can catch up with production then they'll start working on firmware updates and maybe figure it out then. The tech did say they are swamped and can barely keep up sending them out.
they did reply to this video that they are working on a 0% throttle input option so I would look out for that :) once it drops I'll order it immediately lol I didn't buy this thing for the gas mileage so I don't mind the decrease lol
yessir every time (unfortunately) you turn the car on you can put it into L9 and drive totally normal in city or highway without any issues .. im at 9400 miles driving with this method and its the only way until there is a for certain fix with range
I have a 22 1/2 Silverado WT and put this device on underneath the fender myself and with the aftermarket exhaust I have on this truck it's very annoying and as you say when you're coasting you can't hear the exhaust but right before you come to a complete stop it's almost like somebody kicks the exhaust back on and flutters and sounds like crap so it's doing that at coasting speeds it's gotta still be doing that on the highway shutting down to four cylinders I called Range the day after I installed this and explained what was going on and spoke to a lady who told me that it was working correctly that if the truck isn't under acceleration then it shuts all eight cylinders down and I'm like what is the reason for that your device is supposed to disable all that and leave me in eight cylinder mode the whole time and she pretty much told me it don't work that way it's either eight cylinders or no cylinders with this device and if I'm unhappy with the product I can always send it back so up until now I have been driving my Silverado in L7 but then I lose the last gear on the highway unless I shifted up to L8 manually complete waste of time for me and money Very disappointed
Thanks for sharing. I thought it was just easier to go to the dealership and they could delete it. I may be wrong with your Escalade. Very interesting.
I believe the only way to delete it is to tune it out or go through a very extensive and expensive ordeal replacing the internals that make the DFM what it is :(
@@HonestlyOCD exactly true ...about a 5k engine rebuild. they basically have to take the top 1/2 of the engine off and remove all the DFM/AS components
I bought the chip style AFM delete chip , it didn’t do anything , matter of fact truck blew engine 2 weeks later 80k miles , not sure if had anything to do with it but the 6.2 blowing at 80k ,always maintained , just seemed odd …
they are working on a 0% throttle option for folks like me that don't like the 2-3MPG drop and are not seeing a full DFM disable :) hopefully once that comes out I'll reorder and be able to enjoy your bliss lol
if you put the vehicle in the L modes and run through the paddle shifters you can get it into "L9" which essentially allows the vehicle to run through 1-9th gear but not 10 so the overdrive is not hit and it just stays in a normal V8 setup as it should be from factory
So glad I stumbled across your video. I personally can’t stand all this fuel mgmt bullshit. I used a Diablo tuner on my 2015 GMC and it worked flawlessly. I now have 2024 Sierra and I “was” going the Range route but not now.
I'm so disappointed that it didn't work maybe they are going to have that Pulsar thing coming for these silly 21+ refresh disasters but in the mean time I'm sticking to the L9 "fix" lol
@@kenny7253Put the transmission into "L" and then use the "+" to go to 9th gear. It stops the transmission from shifting into 10th gear and activating the DFM.
just the reply saying that someone from Holley would reach out with 2 days and they did lol gave me an RMA number and I boxed it up to send back .. only time will tell if they try to take money off the return or do restocking nonsense but hopefully it's just a smooth return :X

Get the Carbyte one. I tried this range as well and sent it back. Got the carbyte and it plugs in the port under the dash and actually works!
Any update, and what is the highest speed you drive in 9?
So is it fixed or is it choosy by models to get lucky if it works fully I got a 2024 6.2 so idk yet
