    Great video 👍🏼 How much will this repair cost?

    • @CrazyCarMods
      @CrazyCarMods  3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      If you go to your local dealer roughly $1000 (way too much)
      And local auto shop will charge around $600 (which I think is still to much)
      If the issue of the oil leak is because of the gasket. Then the gasket is about $30
      If your valve cover is cracked, then the valve cover price is any where from $200 to $500 depending on the quality you wanna go with.
      I heard some guy put jb welded the valve cover crack and it actually stopped the oil leak.
      The best bet is trying to do the diy yourself, but if don't feel comfortable tackling the job I can do it for you for $300 plus whichever parts you need. (I am in South Florida, Broward County area)
      Hope that helps.

      I've heard some differing opinions on the vacuum lines, that you can actually go a bit wider than the ones that are on there. What inner diameter do you use for vacuum lines? Just wondering.

    • @CrazyCarMods
      @CrazyCarMods  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh man I still haven't replaced them.
      Oem size is 3.5mm
      And you can go a little bit bigger to 4mm as far as the inner diameter.
      I truly don't know if there is an actual benefit or running slightly bigger vacuum lines. Most of the guys running 4mm vacuum lines is because they are in Europe, Australia ect..
      And they can't seem to find 3.5mm over there. Shipping cost twice as much than the vacuum lines. So far I haven't heard any issues going to 4mm. And Some other guys just prefer to stick to 3.5mm to be sure they won't come lose under vacuum.
      Once you do replace them though, make sure they are high quality so the lines don't kink or suction together under vacuum.
      For instance windshield washer hoses are not good for vacuum lines.
      I would have to look further to see whats the benefit (if any) on going 4mm.
      Hope that helps.

      @@CrazyCarMods it went pretty good. I struggled because I didn’t have the deep socket, so I had to wait for the from Amazon. Then the cover was super stuck, used a rubber hammer and hit it pretty hard a few times to knock it lose. Lastly I did snap one of the bolts, but luckily it was in the front on the top, not a big deal. Back and running strong!

    • @CrazyCarMods
      @CrazyCarMods  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh man, sounds like a little mission, but Im glad it all worked out. How did you get that snap bolt out?
      And did that bolt broke when you where taking the bolt out? Or when you where torquing the bolts?

    • @azdannyboi
      @azdannyboi 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@CrazyCarMods it’s still there! Lol. But I’ll just use a tap or drill. It was when I was torquing it, something happened with my wrench it didn’t click right and I over tighten. I need a digital one like yours!

    • @CrazyCarMods
      @CrazyCarMods  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Damn that sucks. I have 2 other torque wrenches, so I decided to test the accuracy with a random bolt since the torque is so low. Kt turns out those other 2 torque wrenches where crap, good for nothing. Every torque wrench was reading something different. So I decided to go with that digital one. Im thinking about buying me a good good quality one.
      Bolt extracting bits seem to work fine. Hopefully you don't need to remove the valve cover to take that bolt out, cross fingers 🤞

    Is it mandatory to replace the gaskets if leaking can you still drive the car?

    • @CrazyCarMods
      @CrazyCarMods  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, you could still drive the car. But obviously, you will still have the leak. What is definitely not good is to add additives to seal the leaks. This type of valve covers, since being plastic are more prone to crack and prone for the gasket to crystallize and become brittle due to the prolonged excessive heat. If the actual fix is just the gasket, then its pretty cheap $30. If the issue its the valve cover then we talking about $300 to $500. Aluminum onces are over $1000 😬

    Hey, would oil in the little holes near the injectors cause my car to leak and smoke up, mine are filled to the top with old oil 25:26

    • @CrazyCarMods
      @CrazyCarMods  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you have oil in those little holes yeah, it can cause it to smoke since that part gets really hot. If you see oil there, that can only be 3 main things.
      1- when filling up the oil, someone slip and dropped oil there.
      2- You either have a cracked valve cover or a bad valve cover gasket.
      3- your pcv valve o-ring may be bad or pcv valve piece is not on or aligned correctly.
      (To see what I'm referring to, look for the video I made "*Warning* Do Not Replace your N54 Valve Cover Gasket B4 Watching This!"
      Note: to eliminate any errors, clean that oil and surrounding area. Then keep an eye on it and see if you see any new oil.
