Some more tips are: -if a player beats you in close on the net on their backhand side, use spread eagle because they can’t raise it fast enough unless they have beauty backhand. -if a shot comes at you on the blocker side while you are standing hold left trigger and move toward the blocker because your blocker is much better closer to your body. -when a puck is behind the net butterfly in the middle of your net and by ready to hold left bumper to move to the shooter -if you are caught out of position and they are on the other side of the net, do not dive. Hold your hug post while in the butterfly and you will cut off the angle very quickly hopefully in time to stop the shot. For some reason hug post is the fastest way to cross your crease. -when the puck is on the blue line move towards the puck as it comes at you, the chance of a glove save or just gobbling it up in your body is heavily increased. -when someone is performing a wrap around poke check them, if they make it around you are screwed. -If you know there is a cross crease chance back off from the shot, if they shoot quickly move towards the shooter as they make the shot or hopefully cut off the angle, if they pass you can move towards that shooter and try to use the right stick slide as it makes your lower hit box much larger so unless they roof it with one tee or make it snappy they won’t be able to get it through as long as you are square enough to the shooter. -On breakaway challenge the shooter, and cheat to their forehand. If they beat you backhand a spread eagle will normally beat them, or fake cheating forehand side and fly at them. -if there is a puck battle in front of you don’t just way for the puck to come out, flying poke check the pile or try to cover it, try to do both. When the puck is in the corner sit back in your net a little bit centered. Watch for a player sneaking up to the net, and if they shoot it from the corners quickly hug the post. -you can easily stop the Datsyuk flip if you stay centered on the players forehand semi aggressively. That way if they shoot it goes right in to you, and if they chip you can be in position to move towards it. Don’t wait for the chip to hit you since it’s very buggy right now and will usually beat you, so just put your body into it
Great video, but from what I have found from playing a few games of goalie, is that you can be in perfect position and the puck will still somehow go in. Idk if that’s just because my perks are bad. But from what I have noticed is the goalie is definitely better then 21, but it’s not a giant difference. I really wanted to get back into goalie this year, since the last time I really really got into it was in NHL 15 which I played over 2000 games. But I just felt the goalie has gotten worse each year sadly.
@@greathoonta3461 agreed you can be in position and it still goes in and on the replay the AI won’t even move his glove/blocker and it just slips right by him
Another great video from between the pipes and make sure you join between the pipes discord. Alot of help from the community, other goalies and the Goalie Guild players. Very helpful lots of great tips.
My buddy suggested this page after I tried learning goalie and I guess doing everything wrong from from hugging the post to playing too patient at wrong times
Hope they make the puck a bit bigger or atleast better highlighted. As a goalie in 6's I lose it atleast a few times per game, didn't struggle in NHL 21.
Have a question for you. I thoroughly enjoy your videos, they are great. As a novice player, when playing goalie, I have a hard time seeing the puck when it is shot. Let me explain. I can not tell if its a high or low shot.. I play with the goalie grid on, to help with this put it doesn't. I try to cover what is blue, without giving to much of what I have covered. Still get scored on a lot. Also, my save percentage is crap. They don't get a lot of shots on me, but I am giving up a goal almost every six shots. Is there Game settings to correct all this?
I forgot about you I'm so sorry! I usedvto watch in back in 17 and maybe even 14 I believe. Haven't played goalie in years but I used to be pretty good because of you!
I wish ea would make a goalie training camp like in NHL 19 when there was a training camp for the basics like shooting body checking faces offs and deking I wish they would do something like that but for the goalies.
They gotta buff goalies next year I feel like they kind of didn’t care about goalie users this year the only good goalies are the cpu goalies you can be the best goalie in the world and you’re still gonna allow 1-3 goals per game
Never played goalie in my life and obviously you make it seem so easy. Been playing eashl as a player. Not competitively tho. Was wondering is be a pro the best way to start learning rather than going straight to online games?
I go into training mode and just do rush I'll start of 1 attack 0 defender 2 attackers 0 defenders then move on to 3 attackers 1 defender and practice making saves and managing rebounds
Like I say in the video, your just using it to train your thumbs and your eyes to track the puck properly. We’re going to move to the other cameras in the next video
@@betweenthepipes I've been watching this channel since NHL 18 & I trust you enough to listen and try whatever you say. You've helped my game so much. Many Thanks and Much Love to you bud.
7:35 that would of gone in if he didn’t whiff on that. You can say butterfly slides aren’t worth it but they’re the only thing saving one timers and quick passes. Speed boost doesn’t do shit against a team that knows how to set up one timers.
Absolutely Fantastic video on this position I’m coming from FIFA VFL goalkeeping so this so much helpful I can happily understand my position now and errors I have great connection to the USA servers due too my VPN and internet speeds 1000 Download -500 Upload so it’s sitting at 30 ping in a drop in match so I’m very excited and looking forward to seeing how far I can go since NHL has more to offer then FIFA
Being good at goalie these days is so much harder than before. let me explain, in nhl 12 you could just move the direction of the puck and you would be pretty much 100% save change now days ypu actual need to read the play and make sure that the move you make is the right one if you do even one thing wrong in your movement you can loose the game for one stupid mistake so peapol don't get mad if you're goalie can't save every shot at net you nees to remember too that the enemies team need get true five of you guys first.
I didn’t think it could get worse from nhl21. The play got worse for goalie. The pads and everything haven’t changed. That annoying woman always talking. Same dum bags you unlock that nobody cares about 7nless they’re 10 years old or impaired somehow. If winning in drop in, the other team quits. You don’t get credit and goes back to main menu

No, it’s just bad animations. I can’t even count the amount of times I’m in perfect position and the puck still goes right by my goalies side.

I wish more people knew about him all goalies I tell about him love him keep up the videos bro
I’ve hit a pretty nice limit of my goalie audience! I’m sure there’s some more out there

I can’t see shit lmao. The puck highlight is irregular and actually way darker. They should fix that
Increase puck size and highlight size in settings
I've increased it all and it is still harder to see than last year
Are you on next gen or current because I wonder if the new lighting makes it better or worse
EA took out the blue arrow to show puck from center of the net.. that blue line was huge for goalies
What camera is he using at 9:10 ? I really like it and I know it’s not low
Wait so what did you map it to on Xbox?
Great stuff. Do you play use manual control at all
What camera angle you use
Gonna re watch it later to make sure I got it all, lmao. Good vid :)
Lots to unpack!
Your tips made me
so good I'm ready to be an all star
How did you turn off the X factor traits above everyone’s head on the ice ? I can’t get that to come off
You have to do it in the main menu settings. The WoC setting only turns off the stamina bar traits
Love the vid Jon! Cant wait for the 2nd part!
Soon!

U can make the puck bigger in settings and u can make it highlighted to
I’m new to EASHL how do I find a team that plays consistently

Just curious why do you have your guy at 6’4” instead of 6’5”
how do I prepare myself for being flamed by the winger in drop ins who can't shoot on net and gives up 7 PPs lol.
what goalie stance is that
Do you ever get that glitch when the puck slides behind the goalie and you cant do anything about it ???
How do u turn off x factor being above people head
Another great video between the pipes buddy
being a goalie in this game feels so odd. it just feels like goals happen where they shouldn't, even if it's an obvious save
Agreed. I’ll be in the right position and the shoot a week backhand that somehow beats me glove side low. Frustrating

Trying to choose the butterfly effect xfactor/trait but it is greyed out and does not allow me to add it into my build? anyone know what to do here?
There are certain requirements. Read what’s required to apply it the bottom right
Low Camera is gonna feel so wierd, but I'm down to give it a try.

Pretty sick t shirt! When I can, I'll get one for sure.
Could we get a video for good goalie builds?
There’s a good one in this video
But once I have everything unlocked there will be a video for making builds

The game is made by the same company, you’re gonna have to lower your expectations 😂
Great video buddy
I got better from this but my teamates keeps telling me i suck and i should just go player
Impressive video, sir!
Thanks buddy!
Great video. You forgot the most important tho. Patience. Lots of it. Haha
100% less is more
very good video thank you keep up the work
I use a butterfly set up
Playing against some solid competition there #239

Appreciate it man! Good to see you around here
U always say players at the highest level , where are they?
Leaguegaming in North America (Xbox) NHL Gamer in Europe. They run esports events sponsored by NHL teams
You can play PlayStation as well. Good competition
I'm just going to stick with 21 that's the last one that I actually enjoyed 22 is too much EA wants way too much money for it
I like this a lot better than 21 for goaltending but I don’t blame ya
I'm a better goalie already!
You’re on PEDs tho 😂

They don’t
Do you think goalie is better or worse
Bout the same. Defense got boosted and passing is way tougher so it allows you to focus more on the puck
