Yeah that is definitely the hard part. Also if one is going from north to south instead of south to North the shooting mechanism is changed from pushing the right analog stick up to pushing it down (unless the settings are changed in gameplay). I believe this is only for two player mode as each player switches sides after the period. Thanks.
Just try to get in the habit of not pulling the right analog stick back and it should be fine. Unless of course, there is open space then it would be preferable to take a slap shot. Maybe try practice mode versus the goalie or perhaps 2v2 or something like that in order to get a better feel for the controls. Thanks and good luck!
@@garydevries5961 All shots that are and the forehand and aren't slap shots are not true wrist shots. In the skill stick settings, to do a true "wrist shot" have to be in glide, then you roll (for a LH shooter) the R stick from the 8:30 o'clock position to about the 6:30 position before moving the R stick to 12 o'clock to shoot. This is mentioned in the Training Camp feature and the in-game hints) This R stick mechanic is supposed to simulate what most pro's do with their sticks a half a second before releasing; doing a quarter rotation with their hands and a mini "toe drag" using the toe to pull the puck into the deepest part of their blade's curve and position the puck relative to their feet (usually just near the heel of the closest foot) so the can get maximum flexion. (there's actually a new trend among "sniper type players like auston mathews of using sticks with "toe curve" blades and pulling the shot slightly closer to their body with the mini toe drag before shooting only off the the toe of the blade. This allows quicker loading of the blade and slightly changes the angle the goalie and would-be shot blockers are reading- I don't know if this has been worked into EA NHL games tho). Just like in real life, the "true wrister" is more powerful and accurate than snap shots, but less quick release- it is better at medium range (especially getting shots to corners pass a screened goalie). Just pressing up on the R stick is a on the forehand "snap shot" which are the quickest release but slightly less accurate, flutter and slow down medium to long range. Pulling up after having the puck on the backhand is the backhand shot, the least powerful and accurate shot (but since it is coming off the convex side of the blade goalies in real life and in the game have a much harder time judging its trajectory)
If you're referring to instant replay I believe the triangle button gives one three different options. Two of the options show the skill stick or write and left analog sticks while the third option just shows the straight replay. Thanks and good luck!

you're calling ever type of shot a wrist shot. backhand and one-timer are not wrist shots. wrist shot is when you pull the puck back first, or forehand deke, then roll the right stick down to 6 o'clock, then fire
@@milesgolden2314 yeah it takes a while to get used to. Another option is to go into the control settings and change it to where the aim is automatic (hybrid instead of skill stick). Thanks and good luck!
Very Helpful, thank you! I'm new to Hockey and really struggling with remembering to aim the shot before I fire.

Not sure, but I've noticed that my PS4 had done that for a lot of different games as well.
