    I'm super new into the world of synth playing and just brought a Deepmind 12. The thing I'm confused about is, how do you not have a million subscribers? You have made such an impact on my enthusiasm to learn while just looking through your videos tonight. The Patch packs you've made are a great gift to the synth world dude. Thank you. Would be amazing if you made a retro movies theme patch pack!

    The amount of work that it probably took to emulate EVERY last one of the presets on the JUNO 106, JX3P, and the PolySix, and to do it 100% for free???? It just blows my mind that you could be this hardworking, so competent, and yet this generous.
    On this day 07.08.2023, I traded a bunch of gear I had and traded in for a deepmind12d and I tell you, you were one of the biggest reasons I did so! I hope your patches color most of mine (and other people's songs) from now on. Even though you advertise these as free presets, it doesn't feel right to download them without at least paying a couple dozen doubloons.
    Thanks again for the effort! I just wanted to comment and say that you really are one of a kind youtuber. I really do wish you success and happiness in all your endeavors.

    Holy shit. I've owned the JX-3P since 2008, and these sounds are 95- if not 100% there in my ears. The only tiny difference I can hear in a couple of the sounds only have to do with the amount of de-tuning or filter-cutoff, but the sounds themselves are there! Definitely gonna load these into my DM12.

    Yeah. Awesome work, Jorb! Thanks for doing this. When I bought the DM12 I was disappointed that there weren't more *normal* sounding presets--in the lower patch banks at a minimum. The effects are cool, but they kind of overwhelm many of the sounds. Anyhow, I really appreciate you've taken the time to create these as they are incredibly close to the original and provide a solid foundation to work from without having to figure everything out. Hi Jord, you keep on hitting it out of the park with these packs sir. I have the Roland Boutique JX3P and these sound easily as good as Roland's own digital recreations, if not better as of course they are now being played on real world analogue hardware rather than software, although I do love my little Boutique JX3P I know I could never afford a real world one, but being able to have these patches on my DeepMind 12 now and crucially with more than the just 4 note polyphony of the Boutique is fantastic. Thanks again for all your work on these great patches, much appreciated.

    DM12 is so great covering the old synth field. Only thing missing that is limiting my sound design adventures, is the fact that you cannot pan individual voices. That would open up the synth to absolutely next level.

    • @umusic6
      @umusic6 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There's the pan spread. And you can use the unison voice in the mod matrix to mod the panning of the voices.

      @@umusic6 exactly!

    • @SynthesizerSauce
      @SynthesizerSauce 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@umusic6 yeah of course, but you cannot just put one voice to the left and other to the right? Is it possible to make it stay put with mod wheel, or is there always some other element modulating pan?

    • @umusic6
      @umusic6 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@SynthesizerSauce So, do you want every odd voice panned right an every even voice left ? With Poly mode ? I think you need to use the following trick: The secret weapon is that there's LFOs per voice and an option in the LFOs to spread the phase over the 12 Voices, so:
      - Set LFO1 to Square
      - Set LFO1 rate to zero
      - Set LFO1 to reset by key trigger
      - Set LFO1 spread phase to 180 degrees
      This will let the LFO1 be high on every odd voice and low on every even voice, it will stay there for a long time cause the very low LFO rate.
      Now in the mod matrix:
      Map LFO1 to VCA Pan +127
      Btw, this was also the only way to get two detuned saws in unison-2 before the unison voice was introduced in the firmware.

    Many thanks! Looking forward to trying these out. I've wanted a JX10 since they came out and prices are just silly at this point, so I hoped the DM12 would scratch that itch. If you want another synth to emulate, the Oberheim sound would be nice, if you can pull it off. I'm hoping for a rackmountable UBxa!

    • @JorbLovesGear
      @JorbLovesGear  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thinking of the ObXa, we've got no impossible wave shapes, 12db filter is available on the dm, splits aren't possible but you can cheat your way to layers, albeit in a limited capacity.
      Much more plausible than I would've initially thought!

      Beside the EQ trick, there is another interesting way, however it eats up the mod matrix slots. Using audio rate key-tracked LFO(uni) modulation of the PW , you can achieve a more organic unstable raw oscillator sound, combined with osc drift and slight voice panning, it resembles a tone something between an Oberheim and a J8. For the SEM style notch filtering you can use another EQ modulated by an envelope.

    Don't "hate the pitch". It's a good one. You don't fit the "huckster" profile. Just your tone & way of expressing yourself sends the message that you're actually giving something of value when promoting your talents. Anyone that is bothered by your "pitch" are people that would be more comfortable elsewhere.

    I tested the Juno presets as well as the JX3P preset. I used to have a Juno so the feeling was like coming home.
    Not sure if you'd like to show how to make 80s style funk chord, clav, bass, string instruments with DM? The presets of course already have them in a basic form.
    Anyway, thanks for sharing.

    very cool, once again excellent patches. what are those songs you play with elec piano 1 and 2.. sound so familiar but just can't put my finger on it.. (could be any lounge album, jamrioquai or even George Michael)
    Ive tried the juno 106 ones on a borrowed deepmind rack and sounded excellent. Just don't know if I like the deepmind as much as the real deal.. They didn't make me want to play like on the 106. Maybe it was because I was using a cheap arturia controller.

    Hi Jorb. I picked up the JX-3, Juno 106 & Poly Six sound bank sets from you. I honestly was not a fan of the stock presets in my Deep Mind 6. Your sound banks have made a huge difference on my feelings toward this instrument. New subscriber now due to your amazing content. Any possibility of seeing a set of JX-8P sounds?

    • @JorbLovesGear

    I know you mentioned that you moved on from the deepmind, but i have a question. Can you tell me why my vcf envelope. Wait first off im a noob so excuse the noob jargin. Im expecting to get the same results from vcf attack and release as the vca asdr .. but when i move the attack or decay or sustain definitely the release doesn't do anything to the sound. I have the envelope up all the way and the frequency. What should i expect to get from the vcf ? Is it working right or should i bring my unit back to sweetwater? HELP

    • @JorbLovesGear
      @JorbLovesGear  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The filter envelope will add a value to the position of your cutoff fader.
      So put the cut off fader low or at minimum, filter envelope contribution way up.
      I have a good beginer synthesis tutorial in my minilogue video, and the deepmind vids where I do a full sound design may be helpful
