    Thank you so much Jeremy. The screen’s resolution is higher than Korg’s, and user interface is considerably more intuitive. That’s why I’ll get one next week. I have a Modx8 for the quality sounds. Hopefully Korg will next year update their top arranger.

    Hi Jeremy, of course I'm still committed to the PSR SX900, but I've really been impressed with this review. I'm not particularly desirous of having to do a lot of work to access such features as the Korg. As you said "If you want something you can take right out of the box and be ready to play. This is the one." Have you had opportunity to work with the SX900? except for the weight, and necessity of having accessories for roadies to aid you with setup, I might take your thought about getting a Tyros 5. But seeing as I'm 79 years old and recovering from a very recent heart attack, I don't want to make life more difficult for me. Anyway, thank you so much. You've pointed out very real strengths for the SX700, and weaknesses without compromise. I'm just waiting till a local store has it in stock, and I'm able to have it in hand. By the way, I've not needed to use the metronome very much for years. Will use TH-cam to call up the original brain.Will use that to learn the songs, then tweak the song to my personal tastes.

    I have been trying to decide between the SX600, 700 and 900. This video has made me settle on the SX700 in preference to the SX600 and to dismiss the SX900 as well beyond my needs. The difference are now very clear. Many thanks.

      I go for sx900 because lot of people said the different is huge compare to sx700
      Unlike previous generation of s975 Vs s775, the Sx900 is tyros5 level while sx700 is only psr level.

    Thank you for your videos. You rattle off those Yamaha and a Casio model numbers like no one else. I especially appreciate your playing of arranger keyboards as their own type of instrument… you use minimal chords and playing, allowing the tech to accompany you… and you put feeling into your melody. Well done playing and reviewing!

    Hi Jeremy, good review. I agree, you are not biased toward Korg, but some of your comments stem from your general comparative preference for Korg, and "preference" is quite a different animal to "bias". This preference exists as you have a use for the pertinent features you correctly say don't exist here. But I believe for the market to which the 700/900 models are aimed, those features would just get in the way, complicating the learning process (a factor not relevant to you as you are already well-familiar with Korg structures as well as Yamaha). So while it's totally valid to point out these "omissions" to help a potential buyer choose the instrument best-suited suited to her/his needs, to a typical buyer of these two instruments, those differences don't register as flaws. But on other negatives you mention, having purchased a 900 (I've yet to find time to really explore!) I almost entirely agree, although a 900 may have additional offerings that go toward compensating (which brings up the query you raised in a previous video ─ can the price difference between the 700 and 900 be justified?). However there are two general observations on which I will comment: (i) A second-hand Tyros, IF at a similar price, will offer more, but at a sacrifice of portability, which could be significant, and (ii) as for thinking about potential use as a controller, the typical customer for these models probably isn't looking for this, and if a controller is wanted it is very much better to buy a separate dedicated controller anyway (a basic controller is not expensive). For me, and this will apply to other viewers (most certainly, far from all) while I accept all of your comments, I'm happy I made the right (personal) choice. Jeremy, sorry about yet another lengthy comment!

    • @milagrosrodriguez8169
      @milagrosrodriguez8169 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Totally agreed with you Bryan. I have played both brands and specially Pa series, Oh well.. some. the are impressive but you can get lost. As I am a piano formed I play pianos, synths and a workstation. To tell the truth, I am not an "arranger keyboardist" but It is always interesting to learn and reading experiences from other musicians. Have to say that whenever I visit a frind of mine and offers me his Pa500 I usually pick a patch and little twicking for sustain and delay and that is! some times layering no more than 2 o 3 instruments... I get lost in the scrolled menu from the "Touch View" screen from his Korg. So, I find this video and your comment very useful. I personally.. if comes to my mind to "produce" some arrangement including sound work and style... I'd defenitely go straight to a workstation.. in the Lab. As "Live" performer I use a Kurzweil sp4-8 where fx and split or layers can be done "on the fly" more than that.. I work on my Yamaha WS v50 (Yeah, kind of too traditional, but suits for my needs) Sending greetings from Lima Perú, this is Miguel Rejas. pd: Using my wife's lap till get mine repaired. TXS for sharing.

    I cannot believe Yamaha and Korg have been so slow to bring out a 76 key version. I would rather have the extra octave than a lot of the other features. These keyboards are catching on but the whole world and his mother knows that we would die for that extra octave or at least have the option of paying for it. The convenience of the inbuilt speakers and extra octave would definitely create a 'must have' instrument. Are they dense or what?

    Jeremy, I love your videos. Let me tell you what I recently did, even though you might think I'm a little crazy. I actually owned a Korg Pa700. I used it for a couple projects, and it's of course a fine board. But you know what? I sold it to buy two other keyboards in its place -- a PSR-S670 and a Casio CT-X3000! You might be thinking, why? Why? Well, I've always been a Yamaha fanboy. I decided that the Pa700 was a little overkill, and I was *extremely* curious to see what Yamaha was offering in its PSR-S range of keyboards. (The last PSR I ever had was a PSR-640 in the early '2000s.) Since the PSR-S670 was the easiest one to get into based on price, I went with that. And the Casio was only $300, but at that price, I couldn't believe the technology that they were packing into it! Plus it sounds great! I mainly plan on using these boards as romplers, but I also like to play around with the accompaniments and just jam. So instead of one big giant expensive arranger (the Korg), I now have two that are, yes, less advanced, but I'm having lots of fun anyways.

    Your videos much appreciated
    One feature of the S975 was I could plug a TV into the VGA ports for karaoke fun nights with lyrics scrolling on a big screen. I was told before I bought the SX900 a similar featured was builtin to the SX900 but I would need a USB to HDMI adapter. Before I lash out and spend $108 can you confirm that the new model does offer this feature to extend the screen. I have so far plugged my laptop USB to USB but that doesnt work.
    Your advice would be much appreciated.

      I have a Roland Juno-DS61, and that has a pattern sequencer, also. I am not really a big fan of it. It's fun and cool to generate ideas with, but just not terribly usable in the long run. I'd rather have a regular 16 track sequencer on it instead. Korg Kross 2, I believe, has a 16 track sequencer, and it is such a light and portable keyboard. It's a workstation and not an arranger, however. Yamaha MODX seems like such an amazing instrument, but it's disappointing to read about its (lack of) sequencing abilities :(.

    Korg PA series actually a DAW builtin keyboard that you can do almost everything from composing to sound editing to live performance no need for expensive DAW pc system, a thing it lacks is video output with touch support on the bigger screen. The professional musical would love it
    Yamaha PSR series is for home hobby people that styles and sound are tunes to most pleasant and inspiring while playing and create your own with minimal learning time, a professional musician will need a Yamaha friendly DAW software like Cube, Sonar. The similarity to the Yamaha PSR series would be the Suzuki Audya keyboard, the Pegasus keyboard, the Roland arranger keyboard or more editing and tweaking Casio MZ-X500.
    I hope this helps you to choose the best keyboard that suite your!

    • @Ahmad-Mounir44
      @Ahmad-Mounir44 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Of course, you're wrong. PC DAWs will never be replaced by any arranger or workstation keyboard anytime soon. What are you talking about? Editing on keyboards vs Editing on a PC DAW loaded with tons of samples libraries and infinite number of settings, soft knobs/faders, buttons, tons of layering, tons of articulations, ..etc. is like comparing small fish with a giant WHALE.
      You have no idea what the PC DAW editing looks like so better comment according to your limited knowledge only instead of misleading people.

    Hi Jeremy. Took your advice, I am a home only player and decided that your video made a great deal of sense. So purchased the PSR-SX700. I am so happy with this Yamaha keyboard. As you say the sounds are so sweet and perfect. There seems to be discussions on the internet regarding the sound produced by the amplifiers and speakers between the 700 and 900 models. Well I can assure anyone considering purchasing the PSR-SX700 has a very high power output from the speakers. All sounds are developed in both the bass, midrange and high frequencies, so no need to pay a further £650.00 for the sound.
    I have attached a short cut to a piece of music I made recently. Hope you all enjoy it. Yamaha PSR-SX700 Movie Magic (Built in Speakers Sound only). If the shortcut didn’t work head on over to my u-tube channel.

    Do you miss the aftertouch in psr sx?korg pa900 and 1000 they have afertouch like Tyros and Genos and semi weighted keys.is this important missing on PSR?do you miss expression without it?Can you explain what Yamaha means by (FSB), Initial Touch in specs?is it better for beginners?why yamaha don't use it in Tyros or Genos?I really like the sound and styles of sx900 but I need to clear out that before I will buy it.i don't want to spend 1800 euros for a beginner keybed.

    Hi Jeremy. Are you familiar with Yamaha PSR-3000 keyboard? That’s the keyboard what I’m used to and I’m seriously considering buying the SX700. Do you think it will be easy for me to transition from the PSR3000 to SX700?

    • @ciberiada01
      @ciberiada01 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends a lot. What do you mean by "easy"? It really depends on what you are using and what kind of music you're playing.
      Although people (and Jeremy too) say the screen is intuitive, there still will be a learning curve.
      If I'm allowed to give you an advice, that would be: when you decide to buy it, take 1 week vacation. That will give you time to go through every detail you will work with. For me that would be:
      1. Record at least one multi track and *edit* it.
      2. Create at least one new style and edit it.

    • @markcogley1962
      @markcogley1962 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have a sx900 and the sound recording is excellent, and of course direct using the shortest path so no interference or sound loss going through other devices, you can then process the sound on pc still if you wish and can record in wav or mp3 on sx900
      Ive also found you can record bluetooth devices playing into the keyboard along with the on board stuff, so if you want a karaoke backing track and play the main melody on the keyboard and record you can do all that as well.
      I used to hook up a multi-track recorder but find I no longer need it much now.

I used to play the Korg and the keys were pretty firm.. I’m not sure if what I have is common or I need to seek support...
