Really well made video with lots of good information. So many mechanics on youTube drain the oil then put the sump plug back, and then undo the oil filter. Not clever, as there is always some oil in the filter that flows back into the sump. I can just see that pick going straight through me finger getting that seal off .LOL.
the alternative should not be more than 1 litre, it says it in the manual. it's only as a measure of emergency if you can't find the recommended one and you need to top up.
Hi, a very informative video. I have a fiesta 1.6 ti-vct and I'm have some stutter issues when I tap on the gas. I have already replaced the sparkplugs, sparkplug wires, air filter, oil & oil filter. I have also used some fuel additives with unfortunately no effect. After having all that done to the car, the problem is still there. My "last hope" is the fuel filter but I can't find it on the car. Maybe you can help me with my problem?
Thank you for this great video. I have a Ford Mondeo 1.6 Ti vct petrol unit 2009.car had 5w30 I'm thinking next oil change will be 5w20 car got 175 thousand km
Listen to what he said about those spark plugs, don't over thight them. Someone before I took ownership of my 1.4 Fiesta over torqued spark plug number 3 and 4, resulting in #3 breaking in half and #4 completely melting the thread in the head. Long story short we had to pull off the head, drill out #4, re-thread the hole, smooth out the head for the new head gasket and then reinstall everything. A massive job and double the amount of money I would've spent for a complete service + brake discs and brake pads just because of a stupid spark plug. Moral of the story is: don't over torque your fucking spark plugs.
Pleased i came across this vid, my fiesta is coming up for a service soon but im buying the oil my self so needed to see which i need and am going for the ford castrol 5w 20 my car is a 1.6 auto 2013, just as an after thought how often should i be changing automatic trans, oil any thoughts please would be very welcome.
Hi. Thanks for this great video, I have exactly the same car 2009 1.6 My issue is different, I understand the major service as a whole. May you please help me to understand a fuel filter for this particular car. I tried to search but no straight answer, I get a fuel pump under the rear seat instead.
Thanks for the comment, it may not have a fuel filter.. some have a lifetime sealed u it in the tank.. if it has got one it will be an inline cylinder type filter near the fuel tank
Hi, thanks for the video. Just a question on the airbox. I have a mk7 2009 1.4 fiesta but noticed that the air intake pipe within the actual airbox is missing. What is that pipe called and is it a big issue if I don’t have it ? Thanks
@@diydaly thanks for your reply. Sorry for not being clear. I meant inside the actual box housing at the bottom on your video I can see a pipe coming out. That’s the one I meant
I did found some oil in the spark plugs therfore my gasket blown. I'm curious I try to diagnose a rough idle during cold start is a blown gasket can explain something like this? after running the car for a while 5~10 minutes the noise changes and you don't feel vibration in the car. I did change the sparkplug just in case since I saw a miss fire on the cylinder 1 (the longest cable) but the behavior remains.
Hi Erik , the rocker cover gasket will be leaking around the centre, not a serious issue but need a replacement rubber gasket fitting this all. That engine suffers badly with the coil packs, If your fitting the plugs id replace the coil pack & ignition leads. also check for any oil breather pipes split, this will also cause rough idle .. thanks
Just a decent brand really tbh , they are quite cheap filters so you can go oe ford if you want the best , they are quite cheap on eBay , I should have listed the oil spec in my description , again there are a lot of brands out there but if you want something decent go for Castrol
how do you tell the difference between engine sizes. mine is registered as 1.4 but from the diagram in the maintenance handbook it looks exactly like the 1.6 and not the 1.4.
Thanks for the easy to follow guidelines for a basic service. I was wondering if 'Big Ben' on your wrist caused problems when you work on cars? Like sitting in the front seat? 🤣🤣😉👍🏻👏🏼
It really depends on the garage but typically an interim service involves oil & filter chance , inspection and diagnostic check .. full service includes all filters and spark plugs changed , inspection , diagnostic check and brakes stripped and cleaned
If it’s got one it’ll be inline near the fuel tank , more than likely it won’t have one though.. a lot of modern petrols just have one built into the tank which doesn’t have an interval
@@natureblogs7925 mine didnt have one , if it has just follow the fuel line coming out the tank .. if its not within a metre of the tank then it hasn't got one mate

I think so but best to check with you local parts supplier
Air conditioning filter replacement is more troublesome😂
Is there a fuel filter in these 1.4 models?
Most are life time (in the tank)
how do you tell the difference between engine sizes. mine is registered as 1.4 but from the diagram in the maintenance handbook it looks exactly like the 1.6 and not the 1.4.
There will be an engine number on the engine itself to confirm 100% but they do all look very similar
Hi, what gap for the plugs ? And are the 1.25/1.6 the same ? Thanks
Hi rob , yeah im fairly sure they are the same plugs mate, I couldn't find the gap, most plugs come preset now so its not often I check
1.3mm for future readers.
Hi, how do I figure out what size I need for the sump plug washer?
They are listed specificly for that engine mate
It says on the video 13mm
Does fiesta 1.25 petrol 2009 have fuel filter?
Should just be lifetime filter in the tank
