I guess the lamb symbolizes her innocence, which gets slowly chipped away by war after war and battle after battle. Until it reshapes into the heart of a wolf, creating the battle hardened warrior and conqueror we know today as Ambessa.
Imo, it's also the noxian version of Kindred : Lamb (acceptance of death) and Wolf (fighting death no matter the cost). But opposite to other cultures, where Wolf represents death chasing you, Noxus celebrate the Wolf and the strength to face death. There's also a good chance that the 4 characters around her represents the noxians warriors blessed by war (Pantheon) and death (Wolf) : Ambessa, Swain, and maybe Katarina ?

well in the most regions it is the wolf and the lamb. in ionia in special it is the spririt blossom kindred. in some parts of ionia it is also thought to be a frog and a raven (first and last wave) and on mount targon its a fox, thata all that is known to it for now

The fact that Kindred, once again, is portrait as the guidance for the dieing is just so great! In Awaken the battle against tryndamere who refused to die and now Ambessa at the edge of dieing. I just love the storytelling.
I really love that combined with the way they gave the Noxian version of Kindred a red right hand, showing that in Noxus the "peaceful" death is wrathful or even vengeful
So much to unpack here: She's on an Ionian beach fighting in the Noxian war on Ionia; when she is on the brink of death her soul gets pulled into what appears to be 3 different afterlifes: The domain of the kindred (testing her worthiness for the lamb's respite), Mordekaiser's Death realm (another potential member of the army of the damned - her home of noxus), and a shuriman xerath cultist afterlife (pulled by her lineage - blood connection). (Fairly certain these are xerath cultists due to A). environment, B). their attire (They very closely resemble xerath cultists from LoR cards), and C). corrupting the lamb's gift (inducing a pregnancy towards some eventual end goal). This isn't even a fourth of all the pieces I hope Necrit unpacks!
I have a theory that the black character at the end is 1) the wolf personified which would be the first time us seeing this OR which is even crazier it's just The greyman... Sort of how wolf and lamb look when they are actually one entity... Cause when you look at the mask it has 2 parts at them bottom which kinda resembles the open mouth of a wolf that you can see at the stone it's giving to Ambessa but on the other hand it also has the curly fur in the back of its head and the skinny physique which resembles The lamb more... The CGI of live action doesn't serve the fantasy elements of the world. Powers, monsters, space, magic can look really terrible in cgi. That's why I prefer animation when it comes to fictional fantasy stories.

Something to note here is that among the Noxian champions, it's Pantheon who seems to test everyone. If Noxus ever believed in the Targonian aspects, it would make sense that they would worship Pantheon, the Aspect of War, the man who struggled every minute to eventually become a god. EDIT: It has come to my attention that this is not actually Atreus, but another chosen of the wolf that just happens to look like Pantheon. Though I wish to apologize for my error in judgement, I still stand by my statement above.
Or possible Ambessa's cultural heritage is a Targonian tribe assimilated by Noxian conquest. They don't require you to abandon religious ideology or cultural practice, so long as you tribute the empire. Sometimes that means installing a local governor, sometimes if the local leader can "see reason" they can keep their holdings, provided they swear and march under the Noxian banner when the time comes.

When she appeared in Arcane s1, the power she commands was obvious right from the start. But respect for her might not have happened for all, she was meddling in Piltover's business after all. Now S2 is about to drop, and Riot just made our respect for her skyrocket, it sets a precedent, and the message is pretty clear, Ambessa is NOT someone you wish to go against, she will fight you back, and that's -very likely- what our fav Arcane Gang is going to do... This is cool, all the characters in the gold with pantheon all had near death experiences. Katarina was almost killed by her brother Talon, Swain was almost killed and lost his arm during the Ionian-Noxian war by Irelia, and Pantheon almost died when Aatrox stabbed him in the chest. What’s also a cool detail is that I noticed all the red markings on these champions seem to indicate other, not as prominent, wounds they had that eventually healed.

I think I get it, all of these champions survived Death/Kindred in some way: - Ambessa was on the brink until she felt her child and it gave her strength to get back up. - Atreus was “killed” as the Aspect and managed to live on without Pantheon. - Katarina faces death on a daily basis and almost died giving her life to Noxus (Bit of stretch but that’s my two cents) - Swain is harder to pin down but maybe it has to do with the fact Swain was sent to die in Ionia but was reborn as the Grand General of Noxus when he made a deal with Raum?
interesting but to counter argument : they would have probably put Tryndamere in the package since he's the champion known to face death. But all of the champion in the cinematic may be a hint for a future skinlane so there is maybe economic reason involved

This song is so good. Omg. The character designs, visuals, everything was amazing. Also, the design of the drums being used are so nice aesthetically. I forget that Kindred takes on different appearances in different regions and Kindred looks beyond ethereal.
In lore, the kindred (wolf in this case) is only visible to someone dead or dying, and they always kill their target. The fact that Ambessa saw the wolf and it didn't take her life means that the wolf wasn't there for her but instead it was for her child. The lamb could symbolize the way Ambessa is protecting the child from the spirits of death, keeping it's innocence. Since it's the wolf Ambessa needs to fight to prove her worth, in the end the child still dies, but The Kindred acknowledges their struggle and grants Ambessa some kind of clarity (or some kind of power) symbolized by the Wolfhead Heart given towards the end of the video. Top notch lore faithfulness and storytelling from these guys, Riot never misses.
Wolf from Kindred is for those who don't want to die. Wolf always chase them until he get the target, but when you accept your death you are killed by Lamb. In "Sill here" we see how Trynda is fighting with Wolf, it's because he doesn't agree with the situation, he doesn't want to die, he's NOT gonna die. If we want it to be Kinder it doesn't make any sense. Even if Ambessa didn't want to die and would fight with that thought she would had to fight with Wolf as he won't just go away "because you don't want to die" (Kindred withdrawed with Trynda because he was saved by Ashe). Wolf and Lamb symbolise more than just Kinder, especially when Kindred is simbolised by other things depending on region.

I love how the visual metaphors can have multiple interpretations! Her carrying and then sacrificing the lamb could be seen as her giving up the last of her innocence after being hardened by war, in order to become the wolf and save herself. Or it could be her literally carrying the innocent child in her womb through the horrors of the world. Also not to mention the switch from white clothing to black, resembling the transition from lamb to wolf, (Kindred).
That's the theme of the skinline - Those who were close to death, but had the will and power to survive, those who were recongized as worthy by Kindred(mainly wolf) to fight again. Pantheon literally died fighting Aatrox, Atreus barely survived, but he's fighting again, even going as far do defy gods and godlike beings. Swain lost his hand and was close to losing his life on Placidium, but he survived, found power(Raum) and is now ruling Noxus, constantly fighting both on the battlefield and inside noxus itself(Leblanc and the black rose). Katarina almost died to Talon, barely surviving and getting a scar, but again, she keeps fighting now to show her devotion to noxus and to find her father.

I think: - Ambessa is fighting the wolf and the lamb grants her raspite - The one-eyed spectres in Kindred‘s vision might have a connection to Jhin (or why he wears a one-eyed mask). - She is pregnant at the end - In the vision she is fighting someone who looks like Pantheon but I think she is fighting someone who has gotten Lamb‘s raspite before - The small lamb might represent the unborn child?
She was pregnant from the start of the vid. It seems more than anything at the end the child has the grace/blessing of the lamb from Kindred? Would be an interesting concept that the innocent (lamb) that is her child is kept safe by Ambessa (the wolf)
Probably fighting Wolf's chosen to prove that she's worthy of his blessing and Kindred's respite. If she had given up mid fight against Pantheon (doesn't pick up her bladed knuckles), she probably wouldn't have revived as she's not worthy.

Seems like the overarching theme is sacrifice. On top of all the league lore that others have mentioned. The lamb not only being kindred but also symbolic of the sacrificial lamb metaphor and being what ambessa had to sacrifice for her vision of being on the throne. Also 0:55 has to be black rose related. The bit of fragmented wall framing kindred looks like an abstracted or low-poly rose shape from a top view but also in half to create a cave* entry like shape, and knowing fortiches style, i'd say alot of though went into framing this shot. This is so cool.

I am gobsmacked. I love the singer's voice so I went to look up some of her other albums/work. Her last album was 40 years ago. To still be able to deliver this kind of performance is just incredible.

It's fantastic to see how the concept of the 'Reaper' embodied by the sheep and wolf changes to match with religions that don't focus on death as an individual experience. This is why dying as a Shuriman is a communal ritual involving dance, music, a mediator, and the presence of other departed souls. Noxus, drawing inspiration from Rome, emphasizes anthropocentrism and individualism, reflecting modern values rooted in Greco-Roman culture. However, Ambessa's perspective on death is distinctly different. Even in her solitary battle against the wolf, she draws strength from her ancestors. It's Ambessa's ancestors who give her strength, literally undoing the lamb made to die without fighting in what is what will make her alive. In religions/cultures of African matrix, death is a collective experience and that's why connecting with the dead can only be done through rituals that involve many people. Ambessa is not only Shuriman, but also she is not Noxian, thats why death is white-golden and dark-red in different moments. It's a very sensitive way of approaching how cultures interact without canceling each other out. Notice she's already pregnant, her hand resting on her belly instead of the arrow. As she 'gains life', her daughter also awakens. It's intriguing that Ambessa turns her scars into gold post-battle, yet they don't manifest physically. Could the magic of facing death and returning have altered Mel, causing her scars to become corporeal? Arcane has a remarkable ability to elevate everything it touches.
The detail of covering her scars with gold "Kintsugi" is so beautiful and well thought. Contrarty of her daughter she covers her scars not using gold lines for make up.

People say it's Mel or Kino, but the way i see it is that Ambessa was from a nation/region that believed the lamb instead of wolf in Kindred. When she saw the statue or whatever of her holding the lamb, you could see her crying, i think it's about remembering the innocence past self before becoming a noxus soldier and then later, a noxus warlord
Trying to make a linear story takes away a lot of the magic honestly. I see it as ambessa fighting death in order to stay alive for the sake of kino/mel and the symbolism of sacrifice she carries with her. Not sure about anything else but overall the writing and the design for this story is INCREDIBLE. Seeing ambessa’s story on going from an injured pregnant woman in a battlefield to the titan she is today is absolutely incredible. Thank you for this ❤

2:26 Haven't seen anyone mention this but the shot of Pantheon stepping back with that sort of "not bad, not bad indeed" look is SO good. It's animated so well that had to be a flex by fortiche

I guess the lamb symbolizes her innocence, which gets slowly chipped away by war after war and battle after battle. Until it reshapes into the heart of a wolf, creating the battle hardened warrior and conqueror we know today as Ambessa.

Imo, it's also the noxian version of Kindred : Lamb (acceptance of death) and Wolf (fighting death no matter the cost). But opposite to other cultures, where Wolf represents death chasing you, Noxus celebrate the Wolf and the strength to face death.
There's also a good chance that the 4 characters around her represents the noxians warriors blessed by war (Pantheon) and death (Wolf) : Ambessa, Swain, and maybe Katarina ?

well in the most regions it is the wolf and the lamb. in ionia in special it is the spririt blossom kindred. in some parts of ionia it is also thought to be a frog and a raven (first and last wave) and on mount targon its a fox, thata all that is known to it for now

I really love that combined with the way they gave the Noxian version of Kindred a red right hand, showing that in Noxus the "peaceful" death is wrathful or even vengeful
So much to unpack here: She's on an Ionian beach fighting in the Noxian war on Ionia; when she is on the brink of death her soul gets pulled into what appears to be 3 different afterlifes: The domain of the kindred (testing her worthiness for the lamb's respite), Mordekaiser's Death realm (another potential member of the army of the damned - her home of noxus), and a shuriman xerath cultist afterlife (pulled by her lineage - blood connection). (Fairly certain these are xerath cultists due to A). environment, B). their attire (They very closely resemble xerath cultists from LoR cards), and C). corrupting the lamb's gift (inducing a pregnancy towards some eventual end goal).
This isn't even a fourth of all the pieces I hope Necrit unpacks!
I have a theory that the black character at the end is 1) the wolf personified which would be the first time us seeing this OR which is even crazier it's just The greyman... Sort of how wolf and lamb look when they are actually one entity... Cause when you look at the mask it has 2 parts at them bottom which kinda resembles the open mouth of a wolf that you can see at the stone it's giving to Ambessa but on the other hand it also has the curly fur in the back of its head and the skinny physique which resembles The lamb more... Will see what Necrit says but I highly doubt it's just The lamb

Something to note here is that among the Noxian champions, it's Pantheon who seems to test everyone. If Noxus ever believed in the Targonian aspects, it would make sense that they would worship Pantheon, the Aspect of War, the man who struggled every minute to eventually become a god.
EDIT: It has come to my attention that this is not actually Atreus, but another chosen of the wolf that just happens to look like Pantheon. Though I wish to apologize for my error in judgement, I still stand by my statement above.

Or possible Ambessa's cultural heritage is a Targonian tribe assimilated by Noxian conquest. They don't require you to abandon religious ideology or cultural practice, so long as you tribute the empire. Sometimes that means installing a local governor, sometimes if the local leader can "see reason" they can keep their holdings, provided they swear and march under the Noxian banner when the time comes.

This is cool, all the characters in the gold with pantheon all had near death experiences. Katarina was almost killed by her brother Talon, Swain was almost killed and lost his arm during the Ionian-Noxian war by Irelia, and Pantheon almost died when Aatrox stabbed him in the chest. What’s also a cool detail is that I noticed all the red markings on these champions seem to indicate other, not as prominent, wounds they had that eventually healed.
Actually, Pantheon indeed died against Aatrox, Atreus is the one that survive, the human who reached mount targon and was chosen by pantheon to be his avatar

Chosen of the Wolf. I think I get it, all of these champions survived Death/Kindred in some way:
- Ambessa was on the brink until she felt her child and it gave her strength to get back up.
- Atreus was “killed” as the Aspect and managed to live on without Pantheon.
- Katarina faces death on a daily basis and almost died giving her life to Noxus (Bit of stretch but that’s my two cents)
- Swain is harder to pin down but maybe it has to do with the fact Swain was sent to die in Ionia but was reborn as the Grand General of Noxus when he made a deal with Raum?
interesting but to counter argument : they would have probably put Tryndamere in the package since he's the champion known to face death. But all of the champion in the cinematic may be a hint for a future skinlane so there is maybe economic reason involved

In lore, the kindred (wolf in this case) is only visible to someone dead or dying, and they always kill their target. The fact that Ambessa saw the wolf and it didn't take her life means that the wolf wasn't there for her but instead it was for her child.
The lamb could symbolize the way Ambessa is protecting the child from the spirits of death, keeping it's innocence. Since it's the wolf Ambessa needs to fight to prove her worth, in the end the child still dies, but The Kindred acknowledges their struggle and grants Ambessa some kind of clarity (or some kind of power) symbolized by the Wolfhead Heart given towards the end of the video.
Top notch lore faithfulness and storytelling from these guys, Riot never misses.
Wolf from Kindred is for those who don't want to die. Wolf always chase them until he get the target, but when you accept your death you are killed by Lamb. In "Sill here" we see how Trynda is fighting with Wolf, it's because he doesn't agree with the situation, he doesn't want to die, he's NOT gonna die. If we want it to be Kinder it doesn't make any sense. Even if Ambessa didn't want to die and would fight with that thought she would had to fight with Wolf as he won't just go away "because you don't want to die" (Kindred withdrawed with Trynda because he was saved by Ashe). Wolf and Lamb symbolise more than just Kinder, especially when Kindred is simbolised by other things depending on region.
So Baby sacrificed = More POWER OKAY

I love how the visual metaphors can have multiple interpretations! Her carrying and then sacrificing the lamb could be seen as her giving up the last of her innocence after being hardened by war, in order to become the wolf and save herself. Or it could be her literally carrying the innocent child in her womb through the horrors of the world. Also not to mention the switch from white clothing to black, resembling the transition from lamb to wolf, (Kindred).

That's the theme of the skinline - Those who were close to death, but had the will and power to survive, those who were recongized as worthy by Kindred(mainly wolf) to fight again.
Pantheon literally died fighting Aatrox, Atreus barely survived, but he's fighting again, even going as far do defy gods and godlike beings.
Swain lost his hand and was close to losing his life on Placidium, but he survived, found power(Raum) and is now ruling Noxus, constantly fighting both on the battlefield and inside noxus itself(Leblanc and the black rose).
Katarina almost died to Talon, barely surviving and getting a scar, but again, she keeps fighting now to show her devotion to noxus and to find her father.

Couple of things.. I think:
- Ambessa is fighting the wolf and the lamb grants her raspite
- The one-eyed spectres in Kindred‘s vision might have a connection to Jhin (or why he wears a one-eyed mask).
- She is pregnant at the end
- In the vision she is fighting someone who looks like Pantheon but I think she is fighting someone who has gotten Lamb‘s raspite before
- The small lamb might represent the unborn child?

She was pregnant from the start of the vid. It seems more than anything at the end the child has the grace/blessing of the lamb from Kindred? Would be an interesting concept that the innocent (lamb) that is her child is kept safe by Ambessa (the wolf)
Probably fighting Wolf's chosen to prove that she's worthy of his blessing and Kindred's respite. If she had given up mid fight against Pantheon (doesn't pick up her bladed knuckles), she probably wouldn't have revived as she's not worthy.

can you elaborate further on why yoiu think these things? I dont understand what that vision was. Wolf showed up meaning she is near death, why did lamb interfere? And what makes you think thats not pantheon, but someone who received lambs respite? has lamb done that before?
Seems like the overarching theme is sacrifice. On top of all the league lore that others have mentioned. The lamb not only being kindred but also symbolic of the sacrificial lamb metaphor and being what ambessa had to sacrifice for her vision of being on the throne. Also 0:55 has to be black rose related. The bit of fragmented wall framing kindred looks like an abstracted or low-poly rose shape from a top view but also in half to create a cave* entry like shape, and knowing fortiches style, i'd say alot of though went into framing this shot. This is so cool.

The story that goes behind these scenes are so rich! I love that she has to literally shatter the lamb spirit to embrace being The Wolf - a touch on Kindred story line. The Aspect of War Pantheon trialling her if she was worthy. And there's the glowing eyes of the baby possibly Mel taking some influence from either the Lamb, Wolf, or Pantheon.

It's fantastic to see how the concept of the 'Reaper' embodied by the sheep and wolf changes to match with religions that don't focus on death as an individual experience. This is why dying as a Shuriman is a communal ritual involving dance, music, a mediator, and the presence of other departed souls.
Noxus, drawing inspiration from Rome, emphasizes anthropocentrism and individualism, reflecting modern values rooted in Greco-Roman culture. However, Ambessa's perspective on death is distinctly different. Even in her solitary battle against the wolf, she draws strength from her ancestors. It's Ambessa's ancestors who give her strength, literally undoing the lamb made to die without fighting in what is what will make her alive.
In religions/cultures of African matrix, death is a collective experience and that's why connecting with the dead can only be done through rituals that involve many people. Ambessa is not only Shuriman, but also she is not Noxian, thats why death is white-golden and dark-red in different moments. It's a very sensitive way of approaching how cultures interact without canceling each other out.
Notice she's already pregnant, her hand resting on her belly instead of the arrow. As she 'gains life', her daughter also awakens. It's intriguing that Ambessa turns her scars into gold post-battle, yet they don't manifest physically. Could the magic of facing death and returning have altered Mel, causing her scars to become corporeal?
Arcane has a remarkable ability to elevate everything it touches.

When she saw the statue or whatever of her holding the lamb, you could see her crying, i think it's about remembering the innocence past self before becoming a noxus soldier and then later, a noxus warlord

Trying to make a linear story takes away a lot of the magic honestly. I see it as ambessa fighting death in order to stay alive for the sake of kino/mel and the symbolism of sacrifice she carries with her. Not sure about anything else but overall the writing and the design for this story is INCREDIBLE. Seeing ambessa’s story on going from an injured pregnant woman in a battlefield to the titan she is today is absolutely incredible. Thank you for this ❤
