Well, at least their wasn't a casket in that lower level. If I'm not mistaken, this one falls into the kicking of the can; as in down the yellow brick road. Another high quality production from the soft spoken SC gentleman. 😎
I have been using the stubby gauge with core depressor removed for quite some time now. I must admit I got the idea from one of your older videos. Works great and is the first thing I check on older packaged units especially if they have CoreMax high-flow valves which are prone to leaking. Your videos are very enjoyable, thank you.
That idea with just the gauge has been around a long time. I was using just the gauge in 1979 when I started in the trade. It was my boss idea for a quick check of pressures.
That was a thorough coil clean up Ted, here in Australia we are in for a Hot summer, it's still winter here and already the trees have burst there green leaves, stay cool 👍 Au
Good job on coil cleaning and the leaves aren’t going to bother cooling performance. The only thing the leaves will do is hold moisture causing corrosion but if the bottom isn’t falling out of it already a couple of weeks won’t matter.
If and when we come across a r22 system we've been using 422 since about the time it came out and haven't had any issues at the end of the day if they still have r22 system it's time to change it, why spend so much on refrigerant..
Do you sell surge protection when you sell your high seer communicating equipment? I never see you changing inverter boards or anything like that so I just wondered.
It was running probly a slow leak wasnt that low if it was it b froze id cleaned charged it let it run if it got low in nxt. Yr. Maybe do different cant change out every unit cause it low of freon
I cringed when you used the term mini “pressure washer” as some may interpret that as your endorsing a pressure washer TO clean their coil. YES, watching your machine it was more a portable mixing device than EVER hi pressure. I really enjoy your channel!
Sweet...would be good to know when it was last recharged as that could have been a year or two or up to 10 years ago etc. The condenser was filthy dirty. I'd have told the customer that bush is getting a hair cut if they want HVAC servicing. There's no point in leaving that Holly alone when its invasive to the HVAC performance and in servicing. I'd like to blame much of condenser dirt build up from gardeners and their leaf blowers stirring up the surface soil and debris to do their job while the condenser is running and pulling it all inward. Great idea on the Schrader check. Really like how that coil jet works and that it has tips to do various spray patterns. I use it all the time even if no cleaner is required on a job, lots of homes have crap water pressure and access to hose bibs.
make them clean cut and clear a ten foot radius around and twenty foot height above, before agreeing to install a new unit and specify no warranty if the clearance is not maintained or just refuse to install it if they dislike it. I myself would rather be broke, than knowingly disservice others and I hate those who do so(knowingly), none of us ae perfect nor all knowing beings, so you have to judge is a nicely as possible and factor in having bad days. taking shortcuts is most always bad and will cost you/others/many more in the end and yes it most always comes back around to you full circle. most often ending with you kicking yourself in the and bunghole.(lol) or being dead from "RUSH"ing to the bottom of the oceans "Stockton" titangate implosion (whom with half a wit didn't see that coming?). life lesson one, do not play with pressure vessels, more so ones that are subjected to tremendous external pressures *compression*.
Ted nubrite will void your warranty on that sprayer. I asked our Johnstone store when I bought mine and they've seen it firsthand destroy several of these machines
Yup, they’re caught between a rock and a hard place: can’t afford a new system, can’t afford to fix leaks with a cylinder of R22 priced +$1,200 Almost as if that’s part of the plan
lol I woulda done a worse cleaning job. foam up just the outside with only nubrite. lot more foam then spray it through with no top off. Its old and probably leaking. coil would be way cleaner and great super heat. i be gone like flash
Ted I know you are old a wise and I have learned a tremendous amount from certain things you do running your business but this young buck needs to give you some advice. Please start locking your van when you get something out or walk away from it. Your tools are your livelihood and there are tons of scum of the earth just looking to take from us what we have worked so hard to acquire. It might not happen today or tomorrow but it will eventually. I know locks only slow them down but why give the easy quick access to your tools and refrigerant jugs.
Ted, I also know you're a wise man. Having said that, I'm going to agree with @tuffram2165, it's a strong suggestion that you close and lock up your work van when you're away from it. Too many individuals looking to get some high quality tools at a 5 finger discount. You're great man Ted and I'm learning so much from you sir. Happy Hvac'n
coil clean and charge approx 4lbs but scale will say for sure. also add leak seal. $800 to $1000. if leak again then replace it. credit some back towards replacement depending on amout of time it lasted. I do these all day 🤑Im not chasing micro leaks on every call in hot attics. leak search only if empty or extremely low. this Job 1hr max
dont need sit there with a gauge.. every call I soap bubble service valve if no bubble then i replace with brass caps and tighten with pliers...It wont be leaking. i keep a small bottle of soap bubble in the tool bag
I agree on the not cleaning the trash out of the bottom and wouldn't have bothered to use coil cleaner either, now pulling the top and hosing from inside out with full/large stream up close(wont bend fins) and moved on. it's probably a splayed fin type coil and loves to plug bad deep inside where it's hard to see! granted it should have been cleaned yearly or more from install to keep efficiency up and to stop it from turning the gas/oil acidic, which could have helped the indoor coil to not leak for more years. BUT, it was likely indoor air contaminates and poor quality thin copper, which is also touching steel and aluminum and always wet when in operation... what could possibly go wrong? 🤣 far beyond us, upstream engineering/bean counter influence levels(total idiots at the helm) very few complaints from me on your service work(as well as others I watch and comment on), its all suggestions on possible improvements/easier ways. nobody is perfect (I know all too well), but some people out there just never try to improve and fail endlessly, also the ones that just keep running the system until frozen solid/burnt out fully. 🥳🥸
you love them goodmans lol
She’s a leaker, Momma!
STEVE!!!!!!! 👋👋👋👋👋
Can’t stop a Goodman!
God I wish you two would do a video together 👍👍🏆🏆
@@TedCookHVACwish that could be said about Trane nowadays I have had a bunch of defective evaporator coils they all seem to be a 2019 model
Lack of maintenance destroys just about everything in our “mechanical” world. Brand doesn’t matter.
Ted I've been watching your videos for10 years and I think you always make the best call
Thank you very much for watching! I really appreciate it! What area do you live in?
Ted your neighborhood must not be to ''Cool '' your always doing no ''Cooling'' calls in there Good vid my friend ... Thx

Thank goodness for Goodman. Keeps us busy
Quality old school service call thanks 👍👍👍
Halloween's right around the corner. 😎👍
Oh yeah!
That idea with just the gauge has been around a long time. I was using just the gauge in 1979 when I started in the trade. It was my boss idea for a quick check of pressures.
Thats a dirty coil !!! Good job 😊😊
hard to stop a goodman
great video...where can I find that sprayer? The nozzles and pressure are excellent for keeping those coils clean...
That was a thorough coil clean up Ted, here in Australia we are in for a Hot summer, it's still winter here and already the trees have burst there green leaves, stay cool 👍 Au
Always enjoy the videos.
You hear that landscaper making noise with the blower in the background. I guarantee he is making you another customer with dirty coils.
I hate the way Goodman units fade so much in the sun. Makes the unit look older then it is.
Lol I guarantee she wants it😂nice work Ted👍
Good job on coil cleaning and the leaves aren’t going to bother cooling performance. The only thing the leaves will do is hold moisture causing corrosion but if the bottom isn’t falling out of it already a couple of weeks won’t matter.
or plug up the drain holes

at 1:28 is that an Ted Cook doll? 🤣🤣🤣
totally joking big brother. 🤪
What’s that box half hanging off the condenser? Thx
Crap promoted by the power companies that they claim will save you money, I do most customers justice and get rid of them
Junk
Do you sell surge protection when you sell your high seer communicating equipment? I never see you changing inverter boards or anything like that so I just wondered.
Freon? R12? I thought that until recently most residential AC units used R22. R12 was mainly for automotive AC. Replaced by R134A.
Thanks for the vid!
Good Work!
What does a hard start do that a capacitor can't do
Surprised your recharging system if your gonna replace it soon. That’s dang good customer service
Agreed, but with work/supply delays of 5 - 12 days, it's a merciful thing to do.
Wonder what that ladies favorite holiday is?
Isn't it amazing if most people would spray out their coil with a hose, it would last longer , don't you think?
Sometimes they don’t clean em’ and sometimes a yahoo gets crazy with a 20deg tip pressure washer.
Thoes shrubs needs to be cut at least 3 or 4 feet away from condenser
If not for Goodmans Ted would have to get a Maytag uniform.
How old was that junk?
It was running probly a slow leak wasnt that low if it was it b froze id cleaned charged it let it run if it got low in nxt. Yr. Maybe do different cant change out every unit cause it low of freon

You can't stop a Goodman! But I suppose you can rip it out.
I would ask the owner to cut the shrub on this side completely before installing the new one , that's your call
Z manifold came from Zach.
you are to cute for leaves😃😃
You don't have to explain yourself to these "super techs."
Darn leakin Freon!
Wasn't very low
Thats a monster of a house.
Whose hammering
John Israel is the truth. The 1st tech I found fresh out of school
Gosh darn. How dare you not clean out them leaves from that poor man unit
She’s a leaker mama, she’s a leaker.
How's miss molly, you old leaker?
I’m starting to think you are following comfort medic and only doing family and neighbors
Keys to a successful business is locking down those close to you, and then they spread the word.
Yes, I try my best to be as much like them as possible. They are my heroes!
You can buy a 30lb jug of R22 for $975 on ability refrigerants.
I had one sent to my house. For my hvac guy to use
Always customer first.

She's a Crusty One Mr. GRINCH..😅
Trim that bush back. Poor place for it to be planted. And it will probably be cut back to put a new unit in. 👍

It might be a Leaka Momma.
Of course I would’ve done better if I were a supertech. 😂😂😂😂. The company I work for doesn’t carry R22.
Ted it is Conservation of Energy yours and The customers . Especially when you will be Replacing in the Near Future.
Crazy price on gas. Must be a/c is gonna be a luxury for the tich and famous. Old ppl and poor ppl gonna just die from the heat.
With Social Security running out of money, looks like that's part of the plan.
Yup, they’re caught between a rock and a hard place: can’t afford a new system, can’t afford to fix leaks with a cylinder of R22 priced +$1,200

She's not long for this world
Goodmans don't fit back together without a lot of effort.
A no cooling call

HVAC Shop talk says great things about Goodman 🫶🏻
