  • We look at the use of detailed layering in Musescore 4 in the creation of audio for final production. These techniques are essentially identical to procedures used for production mock-ups with sample libraries in midi digital audio workstations.

Another excellent video. I need to go and try this right now! On first hearing it was hard to believe it was entirely native Musescore but a couple of play throughs and it becomes audible what you have done; a very nice technique giving a much more intimate and better differentiated sound. One thing that might be useful for a future video (which I was hoping you'd do here briefly) would be to solo each pair of instruments and show how your decision process goes for the balance between them and any dynamics differences that might be necessary - I can't see any in your score but Musescore's dynamics are not always faultlessly equivalent between different instruments so I'm surprised this works as well as it does! Your channel is 100% useful...with many thanks!

I have found that pan and level differential are sufficient in most cases. One thing that I did here was that I set the solo strings entrance dynamics different from the ensemble so that there would be the implication of gradual section 'growth' when the strings enter from nothing.
