About Us.
Byther Farm is a small organic homestead, being designed and managed using permaculture practices. We aim for self-sufficiency in fruit and vegetables for increased self reliance and better resilience to the modern world. I recognise that we are unlikely to be truly self sufficient, but do the best we can. I share our home with my loving husband, Mr J.
We are a fifty-something couple who live on a smallholding in Carmarthenshire, Wales. We are going green and creating a gentler, cleaner and more healthy life for our family.
Having had a highly successful smallholding in Monmouthshire, we hope to recreate the abundance at our new home. There will be a large organic kitchen garden with no dig gardening raised beds and young food forest in which to grown our fruit and vegetables.
We keep a few sheep and Aylesbury ducks.

Have you visited any other gardens recently? Do you have a favourite public garden to visit?
@@LizZorab I visited the Christchurch botanic gardens near my house in New Zealand and it was splendid. I found many people taking pictures of the daffodils and blossoms which have been wonderful to see coming out
It's all looking so wonderful Liz, and glad you managed to visit Frank P Matthews 😍
Thanks Huw, the forest garden area is really filling out now. Yes, the visit to FPM was fantastic!
Spent a lot of time in my childhood picking fruit for my dad to make wine, I still dislike fruit picking 70 years later! You got a good harvest, thankyou for the great videos.
I hope that you have someone who will help pick fruit for you! Thank you for your kind words.
I'm a fairly new subscriber and found this video to be a true delight. Thank you!
Hello and welcome to the channel. I'm so glad that you like this video!
So many raspberries 🤗
We do love raspberries! They are easy to grow and freeze well, so while we are waiting for our fruit trees to start producing, we are relying on the soft fruits and berries to keep us in fruit for the winter.
Lucky you…so many great gardens near you to visit…love the national botanic gardens of Wales as well as Aberglasney😍Jinxy
I'm hoping to visit a few gardens a little further afield next month.
Wow lots of work, what’s your process options?God Bless love the harvesting. Wish I was close to you to get your spill over. In addition, I could come and help you and pick up a few nuggets(ideas) 🙏🏽 thank you for sharing. I know it’s not easy to videotape at angles and edit. I appreciate your hard work.
So nice of you, yes it's lots of work, but the garden is a pleasure, and the food is a pleasure at a later date! I freeze or can foods as I don't much like dried food.
Did you weigh your harvest this year? It has been so difficult with misty weater, slugs etc..? :)
I haven't weighed my harvest, it's been a difficult year here too.
Liz! We get a good frost even a freeze here in Toronto, Canada I use newspaper over anything to keep the frost away…
That's a good tip! Thank you.
Lovely video,we used to visit the royal botanic gardens in edinburgh
I've never been, but that's another one for my 'want to see' list.

There are so many gardens that I've wanted to visit and haven't got around to doing so. Perhaps next year I'll get to a few more and take my camera with me to share them.
