It's a shame that Will Wright is no longer on The Sims. The game would be way different, I think.

I think it was his influence that kept silly, rude and dark humor in sims 1 & 2. After he left there was a big shift away from those types of humor and it became more family friendly/ dumbed down. It was a noticeable difference in sims 3 but has become a massive problem with sims 4. Without Will Write the sims are boring and all the personality has gone away.
@@tjg813 For sure. While playing The Sims 3 in the past couple of days, it just got me thinking how much I missed the little things like Sims getting pissed off over dumb things. The Sims 3 definitely has some of it, though. My elder Sim sits there and grumbles and mutters under her breath for no apparent reason and it has me hysterical. There is none of that in The Sims 4. It's completely watered down. The Sims 4 is better in some aspects, but not the silly things from 1 and 2.
Yeah sims 3 n 4 would have souls.
I'm pretty sure EA would find a way to ruin it. Will tried to make Spore an amazing game, but then EA's meddling, rushing it and the awful DRM it came bundled with ruined it.
Will Wright is a creative genius he made history and paved the way for simulation games. I will forever be grateful for him. ♥️

In 2000, me being 20 years old at the time, told my husband to pick up some type of dollhouse Barbie type game. I just got my first PC and wanted a game I can basically play dress up and furnish the home. My husband called me from a PC store and said "I found a better game, called The Sims". I was like wtf is The Sims? I don't want that. Well, he brought it home anyway. I was so mad at him. I still installed it and 20 years later here I am @40 years old. I'm loyal to a fault. Sometimes my friends and family still wonder how I can sit and create worlds, custom content, etc all this time later. As of today my practice of building homes for the fun and fantasy of it, has allowed me to make my own floor plan to my home in real life. Without The Sims, this would not be possible probably not even an interest of mine.
I know you still love the Sims but are you still married to the same man? lol

@@elizasbusiness6442 With my now-husband since I was 17, we will be married 20 years next year. I am 40 at the time of this post. I also just played my TS4....so it all worked out. All of it

On the picture in the beginning, you see Will playing Sims 2. He knows, that it's the best game out of the series.
This is funny, but to be fair that picture was taken when Sims 2 was the newest entry in the franchise
It's easy to tell his touch was missing on TS4.
He also left so early on in TS3 as well, which I think is easy to see in the later packs as well.

@@still_your_zelda He left but none of the packs are bad, his touch was still in there until the last pack. Maxis also had more freedom of creativity.

The heart of the sims. Once he left after the sims 3 base game was complete and ea canned much of the original team, you can see how much changed and very much for the worse
I think the sims 3 is the best sims game, not that he made it worse by being there, just that they definitely weren't slacking on it
@@YooranKujara sims 3 is definitely good but unless you have a decently expensive computer it doesn’t run well, it can crash and be very slow one reason being the huge scale of the game. the lore is great though and they definitely put a lot of work into it. sims 2 will always be my favourite though the lore, the cutscenes, probably the nostalgia as well. the sims 3 & 4 are also way more family friendly whereas the sims 1 & 2 can be very risqué at times in a sort of laughable way.
@@lordc1508 I had a pretty old laptop and my game always ran smooth even regardless of how much cc I had it still ran really good but yes I agree sims 3 and 4 are more family friendly loll sometimes I kind of wish it wasn't 🤣

@@lordc1508 yea , I've had way more issues with ts4 than anything and I never had a issue with sims 3 and I know lol 😆 hopefully with ts5 they listen to us and make the game more similar to sims 3 atleast with the open worlds and cars and taxis I use to love that
High school students in the Sims 2 could also earn a Will Wright scholarship.
It looks incredible all he created from such a basic computing technology of those times. He is a genius and has much imagination.
Had he also published Pinball? I admire him even more now.

Sims 2 is still my favourite game of all time, I’m so thankful for this man and his amazing brain - I’m 21 and I’m still playing the sims 2. The sims 3 and sims 4 just wouldn’t do it for me 😅

Sims 2 will always be the *PARAGON* in the Sims franchise.
When I was a kid I always felt a sort of Santa Claus vibe from Will Wright for making a game i loved so much.
There are honestly new sims players who dont know at all who will wright is and its really sad...

I wished he'd come back to The Sims in some way :(
The greatest irony is, when Will first pitched the idea of The Sims, Maxis was not up for it at all. Instead, it was EA who was more receptive to his ideas and gave him the green light to proceed with the project.
And yet, it was Maxis who did the game so much more justice instead of EA.
Will losing his home in a fire makes so much sense as fires in the sims happen so much and are so intense 😂 a bit morbid that we then proceeded to just kill sims on purpose using it
it’s sad for the series that he left but i’m glad that the man who brought me so much happiness through my favorite game series is doing something he’s passionate about instead of staying at ea out of obligation
I wish Will Wright was still making sims games, but I can see why he'd feel his work was done after SC4 and TS2. They're masterpieces.
That’s why you can definitely tell if the game was made from passion or solely for money. The first sims games came out of Will’s passion in architecture and technology. Now, the company are just milking money from Will’s original idea and naming it “The Sims 4”.
The Lloyd Wright dollhouse seems to be a double reference (also genius on his part) since Frank Lloyd Wright was a famous architect in the 20th Century.

@@felmargego2534 in comparisson to the sims 4, yes, they do look godsent. though the expansion packs are amazing (with few exceptions), the stuff packs were expensive garbàge.

When my cousin's ex-spouse was getting a degree in city planning, running a Sim City was one of the mandatory projects, so that the students could see and use what they were being taught.

This was a great video, I really didn't know much about Will other than he was the creator of my favorite game series. Why does it only make perfect sense that he also worked on the pinball game lol. It's a shame that EA is kind of doing his legacy dirty lately 🙊 I just wish its lore was present in Sims 4

It's not completely wrong that the Sims is a doll house simulator. But that's only 1/3 of it.
The other 1/3 of the Sims is an architecture and interior design simulator
and the other 1/3 is a murder simulator.

Not true at all. OFB was the last expansion he worked on before he left for Spore, but unlike certain other games, the bulk of TS2 was in the base game. Will Wright is what made TS2 as great as it still is to this day.

Under the Sims 2 section it says "Will Wright was not directly involved in the development of The Sims 2 or later games in the series, though he is still given special credit for its initial creation." The thing is also I saw an interview where he said that either spore or simcity was the project that he was the most invested into, so about spores you could be right
they still had the will wright vibe ...back to era where will wright was involved.. now it's just so far removed from that....it's cheap quick and nasty

This is the reason why I insist The Sims was developed as an architectural simulator with Sims being placed inside to test the build. It has of course morphed into a game that incorporates life game and clothing.

Buuuut you may want to reconsider your music choice for your videos when you make videos like these. The music fits to alien stories and mysteries but this is basically a documentary about a successful game designer... instead it comes across like some conspiracy theory video and I'm constantly expecting some plot twist about his mysterious disappearance or murder or something lol.

Sim Safari, Sim Town, Sim Park, SIm Tower.... Maxis made an entire genre of "sim" games for kids, and those were some of them.
I think the robot lady is a reference to the person who made the Kings Quest series. Roberta Williams.

Hear me out: Morty Roth likes the Paranormal, what if he saw the Real Bella being kicked out of the Space Ship in RiverBlossom Hills then he brought her to his house? That would explain why Stella has low romantic interest in him and why she’s described as Distracted. I know this doesn’t make sense since they have Kids but, well, I DUNNO, maybe they are Morty’s real children but their Mother ran away, then he Disguised Bella as Stella and told them their Mother came back?
