  • Lectio Divina is a simple and powerful way of meditating on the bible and listening to the Lord.

    SUMMARY OF THE TRADITIONAL STEPS:
    1. LECTIO (Reading): slow, prayerful reading of text, listening to the Word; perhaps two or three times
    2. MEDITATIO (Meditation/Thinking): mulling over a particular word or phrase what strikes us, reflecting, thinking, wondering, connecting, puzzling
    3. ORATIO (Praying/Conversation): our response in prayer: talking, wondering, asking, thanking, praising, saying sorry etc
    4. CONTEMPLATIO (Contemplation/Adoration): gazing with the heart, below the level of the mind, silent, being present to the Lord himself (who speaks through this Word), resting in Him, quietly conscious of Him and his presence
    5. ACTIO (Action): what is our response, what will it lead to, what do we need to change, what do we resolve to do; we live what we have learned

Thank you very much for uploading this very informative video! I will have a go at the traditional method you laid out.
It seems as if it is a method of reading the bible which really gives God the time to speak back to us. A time for us to set aside and listen to Him more attentively.
Also if we were to set aside the same time every day to do this (say 7am for example) it would be like God would know that that is the time we dedicate to waiting to hear from Him. And I feel like maybe He might like that?? ☺️☺️

Interesting that lectio is spelled with a ‘ct’ but pronounced with an ‘x’ sound.
