The encounter itself should be manageable but I feel like the arena it is in is simply too small. It makes the encounter drag on and on as there is simply not enough space for a good hit on the possessed marauder.

Idk about that I did the entire holt level including the slayer gate using only combat shotgun, heavy cannon, and microwave beam (only for spirits) took about an hour and a half, and a handful of deaths, but it was fun. Not to mention all the speedrunners, but I suspect you didn't mean that literally

Don't give them any ideas! That damned Possessed Marauder surrounded by Carcasses was really bad enough. Up until this, I had thoroughly enjoyed Marauder fights. I had a blast fighting the two Marauders at once. But once you take away faltering, make him twice as tough and aggressive while Carcasses and Imps become his body shield, it really stopped being fun.

Always astounds me they’ll have checkpoints for each part of a Boss fight but even non-slayer gate campaign arenas that are way harder have none. I noticed they did have a checkpoint in the final arena at the UAC facility though (after the double marauders), I appreciate that (even though I got it on my first try).
This is insane. Even more so with Haste 2. This gate is downright mean. It took me 2-3 weeks of repeated attempts to beat it on Nightmare. I did find that abusing Remote Detonate and Sticky Bombs was the only way I could deal any damage to the Possessed Marauder.
So, Spirit already gives a speed boost, which is doubled by the console command... oh God. This is some serious next-level gameplay. I regularly practice this Slayer Gate on Nightmare without further augmenting the difficulty via console commands and despite my somewhat 10 hours put into it, I only recall five successful completions.
As much as I enjoy high skill play this is the only video I had to fast forward of Zero Masters a bit because I was getting 2nd hand frustration on how it must have felt trying to do this, my legs were slightly aching from the potential stress that you must have went through into beating this. Good job!
I think the most challenging part of a frenetic Doom Eternal moment is the weapon switching! It aids movement sooo much, like Zero here just gracefully flying around courtesy of those lovely Super Shotgun switches. I need to give my mortal eyes a rest now 😂🤣
It's been a while since I've played this game, and I can't believe I used to play games this difficult. The other day I tried to play again and it was so damn hard. It really is something else this game. I love it so much!
But that is very difficult to execute. It needs to be very rightly timed especially during a small jump. And if playing at AI haste 2, can't even imagine doing that
This video is fun to watch, I couldn’t beat or pick up this game while I was playing on Xbox One S. I think it’s me that this game was made for PC. It was fun but I had a hard time enjoying it. This game was BIG improvement over the 2016 I’ll give them that.
It took me around 50-55 runs to close this gate but attention at normal difficulty 😅😅😅. This guy is and his gameplay at nightmare is insane 😮😮😮. I am impressed.
I finally did this level on Nightmare after all these years. It looks like the developers somewhat nerfed it. Thankfully there's no longer "TWO" marauders at the end. My advice to anyone trying to beat this level on nightmare, is to restart the whole level if you have to, and go in with two BFG ammo, and full health and armor. There's several blue orbs in the level. Save at least one. Then when the automap shows up at the end of the level, go back and get one of the blue orbs before you enter the slayer gate. Once you enter the slayer gate, quickly rocket launcher the first Arch-vile, and freeze the second, and finish him off with the chaingun with shield. Then save the last two BFGs for the two DOOM Hunters.
I am just jealous man. This is top notch gameplay. Plz never stop playing Doom Eternal. Btw were those Marauders normal? They seem much stronger than before. Any cap?
