That was the first album I ever bought and I remember when I pulled it off the shelf, my mom said "lemme see that" then turned up her nose (like she does with everything). I just remember staring at that album cover because it was so striking. Also, Chuck D designed the Fear of a Black Planet cover (and their logo, as well). Illmatic will always make this list because of the emotional response we get from the photo of him as a boy. The expression on his face made us wonder what he was thinking and the album was there to answer that question.
I am so glad I ran across Tony Baker!!! I love his animal voice overs, his comedy shows, lists. I haven't found anything I don't find hilarious 😂!! I wish he'd come to Boise, Idaho. I don't live far from there. I would make sure to go.

Before I even heard your top 10, I was thinking The Pharcyde and Tribes' Midnight Marauders should be on this list. Honorable mention to Sugar Hill Gang's Rappers Delight. The colorful version with the city in the background.

My #1 is Regulate G Funk Era by Warren G. You have Warren G leaning on a lamp post looking kind of melancholy with the top half of the art in negative and a super imposed image on the right. Really nice looking cover. If I had a chance to meet Warren G, I would love to ask him the story behind that album cover.
