But as a WEST COAST guy I’d replace a few and sub one for the other.... first the sub - I’m going Ghostface “Iron Man” over “Supreme Clientele” now to the additions... and I’m guessing you have to be from the West but I need “THE CHRONIC” by DR. I can tell me and tony around the same age cuz both of our love for hip hop started in the early to mid 90s. The majority of his list is from that time period as is mine.
I never expected to hear him mention Little Brother. Those skits really were life, same with the Listeninnng. I even love the callbacks on May The Lord Watch.

Others on my list: Public Enemy - It takes a nation of millions Eric B & Rakim - Paid in full Gang Starr - Hard to earn Pete Rock & CL Smooth - Mecca and the Soul brother EPMD - Strictly Business De La Soul - 3 Feet high and rising ATCQ - Midnight Marauders I could name more! Great list
Man, already had you on the stand up comedy for many years . And now you drop this pure gem , all these albums except Kendrick and J cole were daily played by me when they came out . You even gave a shout out to the legendary No.ID (his album was special as well). Thanks for sharing your knowledge and also with some balanced nuance . Peace from Amsterdam !
Great list and I love all your stories about those albums! Mines as follows: 1. The Infamous 2. Illmatic 3. Ready to die 4. 36 chambers 5. Low end theory 6. Moment of truth 7. Reflection Eternal - train of thought 8. Mos Def - black on both sides 9. Only built 4 Cuban linx 10. DMX - it's dark and hell is hot 11. Madvillainy 12. Doggystyle 13. Reasonable doubt 14. Pete Rock & CL Smooth - Mecca and the soul brother 23. Illadelph Halflife 24. Jay-Z - the black album 25. Aquemini
Great list!!!! I'm like you, I don't have a Pac album on my list either but I'll make a mean playlist of his joints. Im a BIG ATCQ fan. Senario is my fav song ever BUT album...I gotta go with Midnight Marauders. Also...my fav album ever: Lost Boyz - Legal Drug Money. Again....GREAT LIST!!!! RIKI P...out!
I would've never gave you my Illmatic, I had Cuban Links and The Infamous higher up, props for Things Fall Apart, Supreme Clientele and Aquemini cuz I rocked them hard, I would've went with Midnight Marauders...Redman got snubbed
Tony outside of the "Cadillactica" brotha we must be the same person. Different stories but the same taste in music, and when you said you listen to Wyclef "carnival album" freaking amazing.
I respect Tonys list & also his perspectives & details of timing & features knowing the labels but Me Against the World belong on this list due to you knowing Cuban Links & The Infamous verbatim. Im not a huge pac fan but me against the world is Pacs most honest work with so much goin on in that 95 era. You even mentioned J Dilla so I know you know in your heart that Me Against The World belongs. List is solid tho.
That list is pretty damn solid. I can't say anything shouldn't be there. I would probably replace the J. Cole with Paid in Full on my list, but other than that, my list is pretty damn identical.
I have to say an 'impressive' list! I'm also a Wu Tang fan!!! Some albums on my list are: Fugees the Score Ol' Dirty Bastard -Return to the 36 Chambers The GZA - Liquid Swords De La Soul - 3 Feet High and Rising Nas - Gods' Son w/ Illmatic Kendrick Lamar - To Pimp a Butterfly Raekwon - Shaolin vs Wu Tang Also big fan of Blu n Exile and Big Brother!
man I’m definitely a music head and I could not think of why I can’t come up with 25 albums. Then it hit me. Our digital generation probably won’t reminisce about albums like this anymore. It use to be a event going to a record store . It would imprint on your mind. Since about 2005 I’ve been all digital. Except for Lupe’s food and liquor. Crazy b
I'm SO GLAD I ain't the only person done that. I "accidentally" never gave back my best friends Midnight Marauders cassette back. It was TOO GOOD! ATCQ will always be my favorite group of all time!
Excellent list Tony!! Been waiting for you to release a video like this!! Good looking out on Cadillactica - Big KRIT, KRIT is a legend in every way, Krit>>>Kdot & Cole, and KRIT is gonna be mentioned with the other Southern legends like Outkast, Goodie Mob, UGK, Scarface, ect. and yeah Aquemini might be my fave Hip Hop album ever, Aquemini is the best self titled track ever, that track is insane! and big ups on giving your son's middle name Raekwon!, listening to the Chef was like watching your fave mobster movie, and yeah Pac is legendary and all but imo there's so many better artists and albums than what Pac put out, Pac wasn't the greatest lyricist, but his voice and message was what really makes him special and Pac is who got me heavy into Hip Hop, but yeah Pac & Biggie both wouldn't make my top 10 imo
after seeing your list makes me feel better knowing I’m not the only one with good taste lol blues album when it came out below the heavens was just different and I’ll never forget I had that on repeat
I whole heartedly agree with your list I would add My beautiful dark twisted fantasy and the Carter 2... I never press skip on any these albums. 🔥🔥🔥 from beginning to end
🔥🔥🔥 I can't argue with the list But we can't forget that Blackstar album, Dead Prez "Let's Get Free," De La Soul "Stakes Is High" & Big L's "Lifestylez ov da Poor & Dangerous"
14:35 Agreed...Ironman was dope better than expected...but then he dropped this Supreme Clientele...and it was like 🤯🤯🤯...Ghost stepped in front of Rae at that point for me as fav member!!
Extremely late to this party, but EXCELLENT list. Agree with most, I would add Slum Village Fantastic Voyage V1, De La Soul Stakes is High, and I like The Listening by Little Brother slightly better than The Minstrel Show. Shout out to you on the Blu and Exile find. Such a dope record.
I clapped in my crib when I saw the first album out the gate was Black on Both Sides by Mos Def. Brought back nostalgia of me loading that album into my mp3 player and going on a family trip and only listening to that album from Georgia to Ohio. Good times
Shoutout to you for knowing Organix was the TRUE Roots debut and for putting DYWM and Things Fall Apart on your list! Illadelph is actually my favorite album of all time. I agree with many of the picks on here. I gotta give Cadillactica a listen.

I can tell me and tony around the same age cuz both of our love for hip hop started in the early to mid 90s. The majority of his list is from that time period as is mine.
Man....I haven't listened to a full album in decades.......but your enthusiasm for these albums has got me to buy 34 Albums
I never expected to hear him mention Little Brother. Those skits really were life, same with the Listeninnng. I even love the callbacks on May The Lord Watch.
Tony's younger than i thought lol, I thought he would have Public Enemy, Rakim and Slick Rick on here.
it’s a super backpackery list- not mad, ijs
Love Supreme ❤️
This is an amazing list. When u mentioned Blu Exile Below the Havens... I know u were a real hip hop fan. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
SO glad you're back with the lists, Tony🤗 Top 25 RnB albums are the obvious choice but because you're a foodie I think top 25 foods or meals would be interesting too
I really like your list and to have Below The Heavens on it shows you are definitely a hip hop head!
SOLID LIST!!! Great catch on the Below The Heavens LP and the Minstrel Show!! Heads be sleeping on those.
Lol this list about the same as mine. I didn’t have snoop on it (lil too young when it came out and it took a while for me to come around) BUT I had madvillainy.
The BLU and that LB!! Lol Diary of a Mad Black Daddy!!! Lmao awesome vid!
Dang, you made me want to go back and listen to some of these. Can you do a top 10 albums of 90’s R&B next? 😄
It boosted his career and made him anonymous compared to his 1st 2 albums. “J. Cole? Jermaine?”
That’s how I knew j Cole was that guy
One time fo tha citaaay and 2 times fo youuuu?
Great list! We matched on 10 of them. Others on my list:
Public Enemy - It takes a nation of millions
Eric B & Rakim - Paid in full
Gang Starr - Hard to earn
Pete Rock & CL Smooth - Mecca and the Soul brother
EPMD - Strictly Business
De La Soul - 3 Feet high and rising
ATCQ - Midnight Marauders
I could name more! Great list
Incarcerated Scarfaces was a game changer
Man, already had you on the stand up comedy for many years . And now you drop this pure gem , all these albums except Kendrick and J cole were daily played by me when they came out . You even gave a shout out to the legendary No.ID (his album was special as well). Thanks for sharing your knowledge and also with some balanced nuance . Peace from Amsterdam !
Very solid list my brother!! Always good to see a person have good Hip-Hop taste #Salute
Anyone who think Hill wasn’t rapping don’t know everything is everything or that thing!!!
🤜🏾🤛🏾💯
She was beasty and had substance
The way I screamed when you mentioned Below the Heavens 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾 a true work of art

Truly impressed with that Blu and exile.. classic album right there
Seen you come up with this on daddy issues thought I'd be waiting a while...pleasantly suprised
Props for the Blu & Exile nod
That album was phenomenal
Common Be is definitely one of my top five albums...I thought I was the only cat that knew about that Blu and Exile classic album.
Not too many albums better than Scarface’s The Diary and Untouchable. Also, Twista Adrenaline Rush.
Agreed about The Diary! Scarface's third verse on "I Seen a Man Die" is better than most rappers whole fuckin catalog.
Twista?🤯🤣
??! This is HIS list man!! Make your own then!!
Agreed on face. Twista wack tho. Only ppl who think he nice are from Chicago
Scarface is my favorite of all time.
I'm not gonna denie it, Tony put me on a lot of genius artists i never knew cuz i'm a 95 baby and grew up on gucci mane era. 😅
Gucci mane is a 🐐
I would've never gave you my Illmatic, I had Cuban Links and The Infamous higher up, props for Things Fall Apart, Supreme Clientele and Aquemini cuz I rocked them hard, I would've went with Midnight Marauders...Redman got snubbed
I literally love EVERY album on your list. And, when you said BLu I knew you were a true hip hop head. Two thumbs up!
Tony outside of the "Cadillactica" brotha we must be the same person. Different stories but the same taste in music, and when you said you listen to Wyclef "carnival album" freaking amazing.
"Put that Outkast on"
I respect Tonys list & also his perspectives & details of timing & features knowing the labels but Me Against the World belong on this list due to you knowing Cuban Links & The Infamous verbatim. Im not a huge pac fan but me against the world is Pacs most honest work with so much goin on in that 95 era. You even mentioned J Dilla so I know you know in your heart that Me Against The World belongs. List is solid tho.
phenomenal list, literally bro me and you got the same taste in hiphop
Great list Tony! Like a curated exhibit of hip hop masterpieces. All yall young heads take notes...
Tony has good taste in hip hop. I'ma Krit fan as well. Im still playing 4eva is a mighty long time
That list is pretty damn solid. I can't say anything shouldn't be there. I would probably replace the J. Cole with Paid in Full on my list, but other than that, my list is pretty damn identical.
I have to say an 'impressive' list! I'm also a Wu Tang fan!!! Some albums on my list are:
Fugees the Score
Ol' Dirty Bastard -Return to the 36 Chambers
The GZA - Liquid Swords
De La Soul - 3 Feet High and Rising
Nas - Gods' Son w/ Illmatic
Kendrick Lamar - To Pimp a Butterfly
Raekwon - Shaolin vs Wu Tang
Also big fan of Blu n Exile and Big Brother!
man I’m definitely a music head and I could not think of why I can’t come up with 25 albums. Then it hit me. Our digital generation probably won’t reminisce about albums like this anymore. It use to be a event going to a record store . It would imprint on your mind. Since about 2005 I’ve been all digital. Except for Lupe’s food and liquor. Crazy b
For real💯
🔥🔥🔥 I can't argue with the list
But we can't forget that Blackstar album, Dead Prez "Let's Get Free," De La Soul "Stakes Is High" & Big L's "Lifestylez ov da Poor & Dangerous"
Respect for the Little Brother placement. You are a man of my own hiphop heart.
I’m so glad you put Little Brothers as one of your top 25.
14:35 Agreed...Ironman was dope better than expected...but then he dropped this Supreme Clientele...and it was like 🤯🤯🤯...Ghost stepped in front of Rae at that point for me as fav member!!
Shout out to Tony for showing Little Brother some love. One of my favorite groups
Facts Plus Tax
Extremely late to this party, but EXCELLENT list. Agree with most, I would add Slum Village Fantastic Voyage V1, De La Soul Stakes is High, and I like The Listening by Little Brother slightly better than The Minstrel Show. Shout out to you on the Blu and Exile find. Such a dope record.
Tony talking about music in depth for 22 minites? *clicks play*
Peace Tony! Awesome list💪🏿
Pound for pound probably Ironman by ghostface is fav all time!!
I remember how they use to do bonus tracks on cd you didn't even know unless you let it the last song play haha
I clapped in my crib when I saw the first album out the gate was Black on Both Sides by Mos Def. Brought back nostalgia of me loading that album into my mp3 player and going on a family trip and only listening to that album from Georgia to Ohio. Good times
Keep in mind I was around 14-15 at the time and I couldn't go to a store and purchase the album myself
I listen to 20 of these albums..tony have good music taste
Shoutout to you for knowing Organix was the TRUE Roots debut and for putting DYWM and Things Fall Apart on your list! Illadelph is actually my favorite album of all time.
I agree with many of the picks on here. I gotta give Cadillactica a listen.
Started your list with Black on Both Sides that’s an automatic Win Tony love that record
When Tony makes a list. IM PULLING UP!!!
Black On Both Sides out the gate...the list is legit no matter what else follows.
We have new respect for you because of this list you have new fans for lifetime
Because of the strength of the albums with which I am familiar, I will purchase the one's I do not already have.
Super appreciative of the Kast love! Them getting 2 on the list is what's up!! But ATLiens over everything!!!
