@@DogBeast221 Thanks to this latest video, I just did a deep dive on the internet about mountain waves. I've heard them called other things, especially on plane crash forensic documentaries. I can say, at least in the Pacific Northwest, that the affect mountains have on weather is starkly evident in the flora growing on different sides of them. Oregon in particular is actually three states: Everything on the east side of the Cascades, everything on the west side, and then the coast.
@aquachonk the weather can never be predicted accurate up here. He does a pretty fair job of doing so tho. He lives up here like most of us & watches weather with what he has & is a far better predictive assessment than the news & even sometimes better than the almanac. My comments iether backs up his predictions for inland NW or shows the latest development after it hits landfall. I'm here to learn just like you all but am very involved in weather patterns & like to think my information matters to you all in spokane as well. I work outside, daily & on a very wide range as I do pest control from spirit lake & priest lake ID- North spokane/chattaroy/elk/mead, & as far south as Cheney & fish trap. They send us everywhere!!!
Hey Michael… I’m a retired merchant marine captain, who worked alongside Lee Chesneau for about 15 years, teaching a wide range of maritime safety related courses I did most of my maritime meteorology training with him over a couple of decades. You’re doing good work… Keep it up
I agree that this is a great channel. But why do you say that it is ahead of the NWS? Upon what metrics do you base your conclusion? Michael continuously complements and credits the NWS - so why can't you? Perhaps you're simply some disgruntled anti-government know-it-all?
...and The Weather Channel, and the local news, and every other weather You Tuber. It's gratifying to find someone who understands that there is actually weather west of the Rockies.

THIS EXCELLENT WEATHER REPORTING WAS REALLY NEEDED IN OUR AREA!! Michael so informative, smart viewers comments prove he may be saving lives by sharing his Radar readings!! Thank you!!
I was planning a multi-day kayak trip out in the San Juan Islands last week through the middle of this week. Your warnings last week this was coming advised us not to be out today. Thank you so much for the warning, it was a real life-saver!
Im from anacortes and people go missing all the time setting out from washington park. i worked on an island charter for a year and when the winds get above 40 the waves can hit 6 easy feet through the straight of Juan
Michael Snyder has become a must-watch weather pro, for me, for the past couple of years, especially when a storm's a-coming. Palmer and Sistek are good, but Michael is really great. And, just when I didn't think I could appreciate him more, this morning he brought his crayons, which hopefully made it easier for the newbies to understand. Those crayon pictures made my day.

I just want to express my deepest gratitude for your hard work and dedication. Originally from Florida, where radar is ubiquitous, I've noticed that here in the Pacific Northwest, radar coverage isn't as extensive. Now residing in the Cascade Mountains along US Route 2 in Sultan, WA, we experience wind gusts reaching 80 miles per hour through the valley. So, thank you immensely for the advance warning.
We only got coastal radar in 2011. Huge storm blindsided everyone and finally got federal funding to cover the gap on the Washington coast. Check out the history on Langley Hill Radar.
Weather with loving care for all of us! You deserve much commendation for such an attitude. Thank you so much Michael. From under (next to) Deer Mountain, Steve
Thanks for the information! Just heading out to work around Cape Arago and the Bandon areas. Going to be an interesting day. Be safe out there everyone! Think before doing.
Good morning Michael, it's already snowing lightly which is a little unusual for us in Ephrata since the rainshadow usually keeps us dry. It's blowing out of the northeast and is really reminiscent of some good snows around here, although with the warmer weather coming from the southwest it's highly likely to change to rain as the front passes the cascades so it should be a very interesting day in Eastern Washington so thanks Michael ❤❤
I AM ON A BOAT!! In Brookings, OR Thank you Michael for all that you do keeping us informed and prepared ahead of the weather❤❤ You are very much appreciated!!!
Really glad we got an Ecoflow and solar panels during the recent prime day. We have underground utilities in our 1980s suburb but if the trees hit the feeder lines out here towards Covington we’re cooked until PSE can get here. Gotta keep the fridge on at least.
When we bought our house here on the central coast, our realtor was discussing home maintenance issues. He said, “Take note. Out here you’re not buying a house, you’re buying a landlocked boat. Treat it accordingly.”
