4YA is my favorite server so fly on when I don't have much time to fly. I can load in and get into action within 10 minutes, it's also my favorite for learning new weapons because there's so many targets.
I fly pretty much only [4YA] servers and anything else just feels "weird" to me now. I don't even fly WWII, but there's a whole other WWII community within 4YA that have a real passion for what they do in their mission planning and whatnot. I am kind of biased though, I should meantion! ❤❤
I would argue no... IMO a training server should be zoned, what I mean by that is that it should divide the map up between zones for different mission types, if you're trying to learn something like say how to employ a SLAM-ER for example, you're going to want to do that without having air to air threats just spawn in out of no where and shooting you down while you're getting set up, likewise if you're trying to practice dogfighting or BVR, getting shot down by an SA-10 or SA-5 half way through that, it's not going to help you much... Personally if I was to set it up, I'd have a zone for pure air to air, a zone for air to ground, a zone for anti-ship, a zone for helicopter ops, and a mixed zone of all four combined, with at least a 20nm boundary around each, the problem with the 4YA servers and a lot of others is that they're not really set up for what they say "training", they're just capture the base PVE servers, so it is a bit misleading. The helicopter ops one is really important given the time it takes to get anywhere, it's more than annoying when you're wanting to practice, and when you've spent the last 20 minutes just trying to get to the target, and you're just a couple of minutes away, someone buzzes in in an F-16 or F/A-18 and destroys it, or they launched stand off weapons to the same effect. A training server should be that.... set up as a training server. A capture the base server should be that.... set up as that, and both called what they are.
My only complaint with them is the AI bad guy aircraft seem to be set to "nearly invincible"! Boy they can dodge some amazing stuff. And the ground stuff is loaded with Golden BB's! But fun for sure. My only other grief is the Mod aircraft being in there. They show up as camouflaged Su30s and hover over the runways!
Yeah the AI can by really OP for sure especially when the server isn't full of people and they all perma aggro you. But I just look at it like I'm here just to get reps in on an aircraft to work on the mechanics of it. Then I go into another server to really fly a mission
4YA has been absolutely invaluable to me while learning DCS. Just wish more people were using SRS, but when you're able to link up with 4 or 5 people using SRS it really becomes exciting.
@@thelespauldude3283this is unfortunately the norm. When you are on a server that shows the enemy locations. Most people will revert to single player mentality. ED needs to update the mission editor to help creators out. Pretense mission usually have comms (F4CES of DEATH server or Rotor OPS)
FYA WAS BRILLIANT, now it's trash, they have ruined every server by becoming political, even on an Aerobatic server you have to pick a side. Red or blue, also you can't like before spawn anywhere, or in any aircraft you want, I tried to spawn in an F4E and had to spawn in the air, also you only get a couple of aircraft on the ground, so you have no choice but to start your game in the air, so they FYA have taken complete control over whoever joins their server, WHY have they done this, it doesn't make any sense, I will create my own server, and it will be like the other best servers, FYA no more for me.
The lag has gotten pretty bad on open beta servers, I have seen plenty of people quit because of the.lag I switched to the stable version where is less people and less lag.
It serves 2 purposes. 1) Yes for people to fly around like the blue angels and practice formation flying skills and aerobatic performances. 2) For people who are absolutely brand new to the game and want a safe multiplayer space to learn how to fly their aircraft and practice things like carrier landings and air to air refuelling without worrying about being shot down. Not to mention there are other activities available on the server like three race courses, one through the mountains and one with oil rigs, and one over some rolling hills. There's the refuel-or-die challenge, where you spawn in air near a tanker with 500lbs of fuel and as the title says, you either refuel or die. Overall, it's an experience that's similar to FSX Multiplayer servers if you've ever experienced them, but with collisions on so it leads to much more chaos and fun lol.
I mainly play on the 4YA PVP server. Great fun and still gives some sort of challenge. Hope to see a new version of the PVP mission soon. PVE servers are a good place to test some A/G weapons and slow moving jest like the A10. I also play on the BuddySpike server but I find the player base to be quite odd. Sometimes I join and see 20 Blue vs. 4 Red. Where is the challenge on that?
I think the issue is there aren’t enough redfor aircraft. Makes it hard for balancing servers. Everyone just gets into the fastest jets (16/18) because why fly a inferior redfor plane and get shot down. I think that’s the general mindset of ppl
I can't think of one right now its just a "it is what it is" kinda thing. It would be dope if there was a server for slow moving jets and Helo's only that left the fast jets out. In my mind it would be a large ground attack with light AA elements.
@@Dan.318 You could try the Syria Server. Cyprus is dedicated to helo ops and slow movers. As far as I am aware, there are new missions coming for PG, Syria etc. Also the SA map has tons for slow movers.
I was banned from 4YA because some kid landed before I could pull off the active after I had landed, slammed into the back of me, and then complained that I landed on him and not the other way around. I chose not to respond to his whining so they just believed the kid and booted/banned me. If this is the type of experience you want, enjoy.

The fun that I have on the training server is huge , there is every sort of opponent at the same time: airborne enemies, ground targets, SAM sites, also, contrary to other servers where you have to take off and fly for 20 minutes in an F-16 to take out a target and when you arrive there the enemy has been taken out or you get killed when you arrive so you have to start again, in 4YA, usually the distance between you and exciting action is about 100km so its between 5 and 10 minutes of flight before reaching your destination

Excellent point that I forgot to mention which is that it's great for when you're limited on time and just want to get in and shoot stuff for a bit.
Sensor select forward to your hud. You will be able to get lock through you hmd which make it way easier to track

That’s what’s up. I like to dabble in a variety of servers. I find it really challenges your knowledge of aircraft based on how each server runs.

100% agree! The game is immensely better when you co-op with other players to take down obj’s vs just solo flying.

4YA has good placed road bases that can be used by harrier for ground attacks and beat F16 to target
I like this server, I recommend it. I never understood the point of the aerobatic server. Is that where people just fly around like blue angels? LoL
