Hello everyone! I hope you all are having a great week so far! This episode was quite insane and beautiful at the same time. First off, I am aware that Steven Universe is more than likely gonna have a sixth season (not to mention the new movie that will be airing in the fall of 2019.) I felt that this episode represented the end of an era for the series. I’m predicting that season six would probably have a time skip (large or small) and possibly tackle a different storyline throughout the next few seasons of the show. Secondly, when I first watched this episode, I become really confused with the ending or scene shared between Steven and Pink Steven. After watching this season finale a few times, I’ve realized how truly powerful that scene was (not to mention the smooth animation done by the one and only James Baxter!) Once Pink Steven and Steven become reunited, both entities realized how much they needed each other and fused to become one individual. This scene not only represented Steven’s power and possibly confirmed that Steven was a fusion, but this scene also represented the main character (finally) accepting himself. Steven realized that he was neither Pink Diamond nor Rose Quartz, but Steven Universe. Steven had always been himself and he finally realized that he didn’t need to live up to the expectations left from Rose Quartz or Pink Diamond. Instead, Steven has control of his own destiny and understands that he doesn’t need to change himself in order to fit others expectations (hinted in the song at the end of the episode “Change Your Mind.”) So, what were your thoughts on this season finale? Sun Lyt3 steven is technically a fusion. he has the ability to defuse (by force) but his human half depends on his gem half for life. steven is a fusion between human steven and pink diamond (who now belongs to and identifies as steven) rose fused with baby steven in order to give him life.

Well really all of them were right. Pink's form shapeshifted to become Steven, Pink Steven was trapped inside of Steven's body, and Pink Steven and Human Steven fuse to be Steven. All of them were right!
@@ambersoto4407 I know this reply is rather late, But I'll say it anyways. The information in the comment you're referring to is mostly stuff that can be known by watching Change Your Mind. Anything else can be acquired by just watching through the show and learning a few plot points.

@@kingcrgp I mean... the main plot is done. They'll probably just be tying up loose ends and giving us a nice send off epilogue season. Like how old movies gave little snippets in the end credits of what happens to the main characters, except it'll be entire episodes.

Do you remember the episode Lion 3: Straight to Video, where Steven watched Rose's tape? Rose said:
"Steven, I'm going to become half of you. And every time you love being you, that's me, loving being you, because you're gonna be something extraordinary... you're going to be a human being!" That explains why pink Steven is so inhuman and Steven is helpless without his gem. And Steven's gem is a part of him. That explains the pink steven. It's his halves- his humanity, and his power. They need each other.

But at the same time, he acted exactly like Pink Diamond for most of his life almost like he was just another form. It wasn't until later in the series that you kinda realize that he's not the same character he was at the beginning

Rose nor Pink Diamond have existed since Steven was born. She’s gone.
Steven is all who Steven has ever been, and that was the point of removing his gem and seeing it manifest in Steven's likeness. Removing the gem was the ultimate moment of truth, which would reveal if he was truly just a shell for Rose or Pink, or if he was his own person. So when he laughs and embraces his other, he's relieved because he at last knows beyond a shadow of a doubt who he is.

Steven and Pink Steven reuniting is my FAVORITE scene from the entire series
Pink diamond died when she became Steven. Her gem remained, her powers remained, but they belonged to another. Steven. The diamond is literally a part of Steven. They held together a part of his cells. Without it, he had only thirty minutes to live as soon as White took out his gem. He was literally dying, hence “..I NEED it..”
when Pink's gem reformed it showed all the past forms it took before taking Steven's form. The gem is just pure gem power without Steven, no personality of it's own anymore since Pink gave up herself to become part of Steven. It's like a computer system that was upgraded from a previous operating system to a new one and had it's memory wiped clean. Since its been set to be part of Steven that's why it was so emotionless until it was holding Steven.

Basically, White has had a bit of a perfectionist delusion, which made her judge everybody on their most basic level. It took the revelation that Pink was gone to break her out of that.

The stars in the sky shows the amount of gems in the end there was one shooting star so they are finally one with Peace
It's a clean slate now. Season 6 is confirmed by Rebecca Sugar and if I had to guess that Season 6 will basicly be marketed as a new show and a fresh new slate with a new Villian, new intro, new story to build up to. Which honestly is perfect, because they can keep going in into Season 6, 7 and beyond and now have that feeling of getting old cuss they finished there story with the diamonds and bow can bring in a new villain to refresh the series. It's brilliant if you ask me.
And as for the ending. In my opinion inthink what happened was that White Diamond separated Steven into his two halves. One was his human half that's caring and loving and the other was his gem half that's made up of pure energy and power. But no matter what both halves of himself r just that, himself and I feel like this scene shows how no matter what he needs both of his halves to be himself.
I’m like three years late, but I like to think the reason that Steven is happily crying when his pink self comes for him is because he realizes that the gem isn’t just his mom. It’s him. It’s a part of himself forever and he’s okay with that
I think the idea behind the reform scene is that Pink Diamond has been in Steven's body for so long, that when it was removed, its form remained Steven. In other words, both Stevens are Steven; except one is his human half and the other is his gem half.
You didn't have to go and add that bit at the end from Lion 3, but you did and now I'm crying, thanks a lot.
Season 6 is a limited epilogue series called "Steven Universe Future".
Fun gem fact: White and Pink diamonds have the same crystal structure. The only difference is that the pink coloration comes from intense pressure. That's why White says Pink is the part of her she has to repress. She puts the most amount of pressure on herself.

Lots of reactors were confused by the final confrontation between Steven and White. But to be fair, you have to pay attention with some context in mind. Recall how Steven/Pearl called themselves Rainbow 2.0. How Rose said in her video that she and Steven cannot exist at the same time. How Pink Steven declared that Pink Diamond is "gone." How he seemed emotionless and incomplete before rejoining with his dying biological half. The revelation to Steven upon becoming whole once more that he's always been Steven (and by unstated extension, not his mom). Whereas other fusions are two or more wholes coming together to create a new whole, Steven's bio and gem components are two halves of the same whole. Paraphrasing Garnet, "there has never been anyone, or anything, like Steven."
I think Blue particularly might have had some questions for Greg after they arrived on Earth. I also think the planet just became Space Australia, where Homeworld will dump its pirates, rebels, and other undesirables. Steven's still a Pink Diamond, but not "Pink Diamond." He's the second Pink Diamond, and the heir to her colony, and her authority as much as he wishes, or is allowed to exercise it. So it's his problem now! ;)

However, I remembered that Steven Universe was technically labeled as a “kids show.” Then again, so was “Courage the Cowardly Dog” and “The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack.” However, tv regulations have definitely changed since those showed have aired on the newtwork😅

The best guess I can venture for the show's next story is that it will be about the next stage of Steven's life. It's clear at this point that the show is going to be completely different when it returns. On the podcast, Sugar and Jones-Quartey made clear not to expect more of the same show we've been watching. The show up to this point has been a coming-of-age narrative, and "That story is over," Sugar said.
So, if it's still called Steven Universe, presumably it's still a show about this character. And if it's no longer a coming-of-age adventure, then one has to guess it's about the complications that arise in early adulthood. When suddenly people expect you to know what you're doing, and nothing is as simple as it used to seem. People can go their whole lives and never quite work out what it means to be an adult, how to manage those responsibilities.
How that maps to the story elements and metaphors already in place with this world we've built over the past five seasons, it's hard to do more than throw spitballs. I presume a few years will have passed. Steven will be aged up, allowing Callison to rest his vocal chords. He'll be considered a leader. But the whole situation will be changed. Gems and humans will be integrated on Earth, maybe not as smoothly as anyone would hope. There will be an interplanetary network. Not everyone will be pleased with the new Homeworld policies, and there may be a sort of feudalism taking hold in the more distant colonies as higher-ranked Gems defect and try to build their own little fiefdoms. Disgruntled Gems like Jasper may lead small militant cells, causing mild chaos. Basically, adult problems. Politics. Diplomacy. Navigating conflicting needs. And sometimes there won't be neat answers.
It'll be complicated. There will be a sense of a million things outside of what we know. There will be a new backstory of sorts to piece together, of all the things that happened since the last we saw these characters. What kind of a plotline might lay on top of all of this, it all depends on what specific issues Sugar and the crew want to discuss. Given the world that we live in now, which is different in many important ways from the world in 2012, when the last story was conceived, that may affect the kinds of issues they'll want to explore.

As for the episode itself...even after all this time since the premiere, I'm still shook up! I laughed, I cried, I screamed with joy, I panicked. This just had me feeling too many things at once

Oh my gosh that short video you added at the end was so amazing! Idk if you made that yourself or if you found it online but it was absolutely beautiful! I see you like this episode of Steven Universe. I enjoyed it too. I especially the part where Steven fuses with Pink Steven after confronting White Diamond. I also like the part where all of the corrupted gems were healed. I liked it so much, I made a rescored version of the part of the episode that sync to the music of Disney movies, including Sleeping Beauty, Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, and The Little Mermaid. Too bad that when I posted it on TH-cam, it's blocked worldwide under a claim by Tuner Company, and I can tell that's frustrating, just what you said about Turner not flagging your video for containing your video. I even posted it on DailyMotion through a link on one of TH-cam videos in the description box.
