@@Rainiers what even is success in life? Does it mean reaching your goals or the goals that society dictates and deems as worthy? Maybe your goals are actually just copies of what's expected by society. Why even try to reach a goal if the outcome doesn't even make you happy? Aren't expectations per se constricting? I think that expectations can be one of the most harmful things in life.

    • @Rainiers

@@SawChaser Thank you I really needed to hear that! Also I completely agree.
I think the expectations and the almost forced enthusiasm to "succeed" (according to society's standard) is only applied to shape people into tools to better serve their society, which hey is great for the advancement of a civilization sure but not necessarily healthy for an individual.

    • @thisone2522
      @thisone2522 3 ปีที่แล้ว +37

@@AndyZach disagree. In the context of a disagreement/argument/debate, "right" is used to describe trying to force your way into the winner's circle by whatever means necessary. Te users want for there to only be one "right" answer and they want it to come from them, and they try to shoehorn complex concepts into black and white ideas, ignoring nuance, in order to make this so. ENTPs want to have the final idea, that no one can contest (either due to running out of ideas themselves or sheer fkng exhaustion). That is what people hear when you say "INTPs want to be 'right.'" And because I like to be accurate, I can't let that stand. 😄

@@thisone2522 We're thinking of different contexts. I'm only thinking of conforming to reality, what actually exists. You're thinking of some kind of debate/competition arena. True, in the area of competition, ENTJs tend to think 'whatever it takes to win'--but that is not an absolute. ENTJs also are ruled by reality and must conform to it.

INTPs are wise because they observe. They can somehow spend most of their time in their head, yet they aren't oblivious to the world around them. I know a lot more than people think I do about how others act. INTP's are great at gathering information from the slightest thing and dissect details from it. They are quiet observers, blend into the background, and get to see people for who they really are. It's like a superpower.

I’ve found that, even when you come across some INTPs who have a hankering for being the one to give the right answer, if you lay out a sound argument/theory/evidence, they adjust and factor consideration of any new information into their processing (in order to get to the greater truth/idea theory, above all). Even the ones with “ego” per se will give ground to something that is sound, even as they continue to back parts of their original argument. I love our flexibility!

There are a lot of factors that play into whether something is true or not tho, so what is true for one individuals life may work for them but not for others. But then that would negate the actual meaning of "truth." Truth is objective and is not influenced by what someone believes or thinks. Someone may say "this is my truth" and still be completely incorrect. Just because its the idea you believe doesn't make it THE truth. Also truths can not work against each other without at least one being partially wrong.

I really want to go to a place full of only INTP people, just to see whats its like if all of us are interacting together. Then again, it would be hard to get us all introverted people out for a social convention, but just imagine how interesting it would be. We would quickly find that there are probably many different personalities still within INTPS, though it would relieve me to have everyone have the same value of logical reasoning.

  • @filippomonaco2303

I often read that INTPs don't care a lot about how they dress and that is a thing that doesn't apply to me. I'm not interested in trends or fashion, but I always try to be elegant. What you said really makes sense though, we always dress "the same". I'm always "elegant" which for a person in my position means always wearing shirts, pants, classic shoes and other classic pieces depending on the weather. I really care about how I dress, but mostly for myself, and I always dress "elegant" it doesn't matter if I'm going to a restaurant or to throw out the rubbish. So, as I said, what you stated in this video makes more sense than what I usually read, is not that we don’t care about how we dress, is that we always dress more or less the same, we seek consistency in the physical realm.

@@justinwhite2725 It makes no sense for INTP's to be diagnosed with ADD, that diagnosis is literally the opposite of what INTP's suffer from, which is HYPERFOCUS, not LACK of focus. :P
INTP's would logically be diagnosed with autism, not ADD. Then again, when i was diagnosed with autism, i was told my the specialist representative that there's a slight overlap between ADD and Autism.
For example, if you try to make a person with hyperfocus try to change their focus, you're not going to be very successful, and since they're not paying attention to what YOU want them to focus on, they get misdiagnosed with ADD, there are a few more examples, but that's the basic jist of it. :P
And yes, this is apparently a very common occurrence... Apparently these specialists are, generally, not very good at thorough analysis, or have a tendency of jumping to conclusions. : /
In my case, though, i was diagnosed by a TEAM of specialists, not just ONE specialist.

And, yes, it is well recognjzed that pI types (the kind I was diagnosed with) are focused too much inside their head to be aware of their surroundings, which is exactly what the old ADD meant.

Very interesting to think about how i treated my real life environment. I used to eat the same food for months at a time because it was easy to make and I was usually hungry when meal time came. I never minded wearing uniform from 6 to 18 during primary education. I became obsessed with understanding fashion in my 40’s; spent 10 years studying it. I became quite good at finding excellent garments shoes and accessories. Since Covid I became obsessed with cooking. I can make dishes by studying cooking channels and then became good at modifying recipes to make it versatile and better. I self learned how to swim since last year by studying channels that teach how to swim. Nothing excites me more than trying to figure things out.

Intp's speak quickly when they are excited about discussing anything in the mental realm. That is their play area. They become alive and posit their theories unreservedly. They don't mind examining several sides of an issue with the one they're conversating with, but they've usually already run this line of thinking through their systematic analysis and they will lean towards an idea and enjoy debating it with you, if you seem intelligent enough to spar with.
Infp's appear dreamy and stoic unless they know you and can feel comfortable with you. Then they can be animated and playful or romantic and whimsical taking delight in their imaginative realm and the emotions it inspires within them. They can be quite witty and have a well of wisdom they have gained from observing life which they will share spontaneously and often in little tasty morsels. They speak more slowly than intp's and are focused on expressing their values and interests. They can be quite philosophical and are intelligent, but their philosophical musings are related to their passions and interests, whereas the intp will enjoy discussing, disseminating, and throwing out bits of random knowledge on a wide variety of topics.

Heyyy...so FYI...you can be both. I was an INFP that developed into an INTP (my Fi is tertiary with almost the same score typing as my Ne). Being a “T” started as a survival mechanism for enduring my emotions/trauma and now I’m more INTP, but still have a lot of the INFP traits from my youth. I still have a strong emotional intelligence, although I often consciously choose to bypass emotions. Also, the way I approach spirituality, creativity, and many other areas are strongly INFP. The qualities are not so much rigid boxes as they are a spectrum. What’s more, as the development of your brain and personality continue almost to 29, it is definitely possible to see your personality evolve.

It's that tertiary Si and Polr Se that made me hate being INTP when I was mistyped as one. I tried to take the advice of keeping things simple and trying to embrace my mental strengths, but in practice I was neglecting my Se and pushing myself deeper into a rut, believing I was doomed to mediocrity and frustration. Once I figured out I'm ISTP, I've been a lot happier knowing my true strengths, and I've instead started taking the much more appropriate advice of shaking things up and not overthinking as much. I've gotten better at recognizing true INTPs in contrast to myself as well. So if you keep getting INTP test results but you don't feel satisfied with it, it's possible the tests are wrong and you need to try and figure it out for yourself.

It’s hard if you can’t just be yourself completely and let everything out. It’s even more difficult if the people you’re around only care about the physical world and nothing beyond on a macro and micro scale. We’re in a world surrounded by unaware robots but we’re the robots. The irony could make an individual commit mindless actions that solve nothing. I’m only satisfied with peace at this point so I stop going deep into details in person or when I’m texting people. 😞
